“Very nice setting, good for a stopover”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 July 2014

We were enthusiastically welcomed by the owner, Pascal! Our room with a shared terrace, covered with artificial grass, was clean and comfortable with the added benefit of air conditioning.
The pool was welcome and there was space to sit out of or in the sun. Dinner was good, but the market menu did not offer any choice. Breakfast was very disappointing. Nespresso coffee, which is not a patch on proper coffee in my opinion. Croissants and petit pain that had clearly come out of a freezer. Excellent yoghurt. Worth considering for a stopover as it is near the motorway just north of Macon and has secure parking. However, I feel a little overpriced.

It's a beautiful Chateau, renovated with style, very nice staff, especially the owner who takes care personally of his guests. it has a beautiful park, the chateau is located near the saône, where you can take nice long walks. the menu has two excellent choices, we probably never had a more tender charolais meat. the selection of wines is very good, also the apéro platter is delicious! the desserts are a dream. the rooms are also beautifully made. dogs are welcome! we enjoyed our stay tremendously! and we will be back for sure. a magic place where you can relax and experience the real france!

Pascal could not have been more welcoming. He is passionate about his château and has renovated it to an excellent standard. Dinner was delicious as was breakfast. A dog friendly hotel with secure parking (the large Chateau gates are closed at night) and free wifi, in a perfect location. We shall come again on our frequent drives from Geneva to London.

We found this hotel (like so many other great ones) in an old copy of 'Small & Charming Hotels in France'. It was our stopover after a very long day in the (motorcycle) saddle coming down from Calais. The hotel is a real chateau - a truly beautiful building with turrets big staircases and stained glass. Ambience to go with it as well. We arrived quite late and were commended a dip in the pool by the charming front-of-house lady. But we felt it was a bit late for this as we needed to freshen up before dinner. However the pool does look lovely and we'll give it a go next time!
We paid a bit extra for a special room (the 'red' room) and it is indeed spacious and atmospheric with a lovely big four-poster. However if you are s tickler for modern perfection we have to admit that the decor and fittings are probably due for a re-visit. It didn't really bother us but some might view this as a detriment to the value for money. From our viewpoint this was more than made up for by the warm welcome and great service and the very special treat that was our dinner - taken al fresco overlooking the beautiful lawns.
Well it's not quite Michelin star quality but it is definitely heading in that direction from our viewpoint. We took the 60 Euro set 'Menu Comtesse de Fleurville' and went on a delightful culinary ride that was a perfect introduction to our holiday. 60 Euro might sound a lot but we were very happy we got excellent value. Check out the chateau website for details and menu but it is clear that the chef is a master and takes pleasure in giving pleasure. Good wine list as well. Pascal the owner sees to your needs for breakfast in the morning and it is obvious he too wants his guests to depart satisfied. In short - decor in room(s?) could do with a bit more TLC but we'd definitely re-visit.

Room Tip: 'Red room' is a bit special and spacious but costs more. Decor not perfect but otherwise wor...

We have stayed at C. De Fleurville four times now. Our most recent visit involved 8 guests and 5 rooms - each of which were cool, well presented and comfortable. The highlight of our visits are Pascal's welcome and the fabulous food. I would rather not let too many people know about the place, as we have always managed to get a booking, but it is the ideal spot on a trip to / from the south of France and is superb. A wonderful chef, a great wine list, and prices to put Michelin-starred establishments to shame. Not to be missed.

Room Tip: Ty to get a room in the castle itself.

We arrived at Fleurville midway on our trip to south of France.
We walked in to reception, the owner looked us up and down grabbed the keys and walked outside, he said this way as he went, no help with bags, or even a smile. The garden room we were shown to had a musty smell.
We had booked for two people and a dog.
On many previous trips through france, and indeed in many restaurants whilst on holiday, it seems to be the norm for dogs to accompany their owners at mealtimes.
When we walked into the restaurant with our dog, the owner, who appeared to be the only member of staff, said no dogs, you cant bring that dog in here.
after a little "discussion" we said we wont eat here then, and walked out.
The following morning we wanted to leave early but the gates were locked, i had to wake owner up to let me out, he was rude & discourteous, and eventualy said, your stay is free, there is no charge, and let me out.
Surprise, surprise, when we arrived at our destination, and checking my emails, there is a bill from the hotel, and a charge on my credit card.

We have travelled around France and Spain a fair bit and finding overnight stops is part of the adventure. The Chateau de Fleurville turned out to be a gem. We were warmly greeted by the owner and shown to a lovely garden room, and even though it was raining the garden and grounds were looking great. There is a lovely heated outdoor swimming pool, shame the weather was too cold for a dip, we will have to plan our next visit to be during warmer times. We had dinner in the restaurant and although its not cheap, the food and wine were worth the extra expense. We had the traditional menu and it was superb, and we were given additional tasters throughout, can't tell you how lovely it all was, and we will definitely stay there again.
