We booked a room here for one night on our visit to the Gorges du Tarn. We really did not know what to expect as our email correspondence needed Google translator to complete the booking so details were lacking. What a pleasant surprise as we had a wonderful stay. The converted Chateau room was comfortable. The dinner and on the patio was fabulous. The breakfast was a nice simple French affair. The couple that owns the Chateau were very friendly. The river and the Gorges were breath taking so be sure to kayak or take the boat ride down stream. Also use their car park as public parking can be rough.

We had booked two nights at this lovely chateau as part of a hiking tour of the Tarn Gorges with a group of friends. The day we walked to La Malène was wet, really wet! Much of the walk we were straddling puddles or scrambling across wet and muddy tracks. By the time we reached the hotel we were soaked, chilled, and mud spattered. When we saw the elegant chateau, we wondered if they would let us in at all...

In fact , we were warmly received and made most welcome, and shown straight up to our beautiful rooms. Our hosts were most distraught that our luggage had not yet arrived. By the time we had freshened up and come back downstairs, they had contacted the taxi company that had our bags, tracked down the taxi and gotten a delivery time, without us even asking them to do so. Whilst we waited, they gave us coffee and made us comfortable in the bar. We were very grateful for the attentive service.

Throughout our two day stay, the warm, courteous service continued. We ate in the restaurant there both nights, and the food was as wonderful as the service. Local trout and lamb featured on the menu, and were delicious. Presentation of the food was first class, every dish a picture!

Our room, in the tower , had an enormous bed, lovely antique furniture, and elegant drapes across a bay window. Very nice indeed!

Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Some rooms have twin beds (four posters), so if you want a larger bed you should specify.

Stayed for just one night. In busy village (La Malene), public parking almost impossible in peak season - but hotel has its own car park, which is not clearly identified on the web site. Room and facilities as expected in a converted Chatteau, smallish but clean and well appointed. Meal and other drink / eating facilities were first rate. Lovely part of the world, driving along the (crowded) gorge was pleasant, but once into the hills was superb. Well worth the visit.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the larger rooms (extra cost) - furnishing will be 'period' but more than adequate if thats what you want.

Located in the spectacular Gorges du Tarn. We stayed one night en route from Avignon to Millau and Conques. Nice old hotel. Welcoming staff. Do not know if English is spoken, but they were understanding and forgiving of our very rusty French! Room was nice - a little retro, but with modern bath and a lovely view out over the river and gorge. Old fashioned full bed could have used a newer mattress, but we slept well. Terrific dinner in the dining room and a nice breakfast.

What a delight. Third night stopover on our 2000 mile motorcycle trip. Stunning scenery in this area and a hotel which appeared to be hewn into the rocks of the gorge. Our room was quite small and up two flights of the spiral staircase in the tower, but was very clean and well appointed. The real gem of this hotel was the restaurant. The service was outstanding and the staff delightful. Probably one of the the best meals eaten in France to date (and I have eaten in many beautiful restaurants). The attention to detail was paramount and all the ingredients were locally sourced. I thoroughly recommend this this restaurant and we will definitely return here. It was early in the season so I would imagine in the height of summer it may be busy.
