“Very good ,but...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2014 via mobile

I spend two weeks in SBH Paraiso Playa hotel and I am very pleased with my holiday. Food was very good, buffet every time was full and there was great selection of different dishes. Hotel has got three pools, always clean and never too crowded. Sunbeds near the pool are free of charge and there are lots of them. You can use gym, sauna and steam room for free. Beach near hotel is stunning, ocean amazing. Sunbeds on the beach cost 13 euro and they do not belong to the hotel. Is very difficult to sunbathe on the beach due to strong winds, but it is perfect for swimming and other sport activities( be prepared to see lots of naked people there). Reception is friendly, but not too helpfull. On our first day we could not find restaurant and there is true labirynth. No one showed us around, but maybe we expect too much. There is no luggage porters as well. Bar staff always helpfull and skilled. Hotel and rooms are very clean. Please be aware, that Internet and safe are very expensive. Please note they do not provide bottled water in the room. Water costs one euro two litres in the hotel shop or you can go the shop by bus. Animation programme is poor and don't except too much. Although I saw active animators with teenagers( Roy )and small children. There are fitness and dance classes with Szylvia , but every day they are almost the same. Every day there is as well showtime, unfortunately very poor. Animators 7-8 of them are dancing and pretending to sing from the tape(Grease, Cabaret).Mondays you will see hired dancers or circus artists. Please note that hotel is mainly focused on German speaking guests. Italian animators two girls hired by inviaggi are very active and always helpfull. Erica an Melly always work on Saturdays when hotel animators have day off. Girls on that day provide entertainment for everyone. To summarise service and hotel is very good, but you can see they struggle with crisis.

Generally, a nice hotel but our impression was spoiled on arrival by extreamely unpleasant receptionist. Local habits do not include to help guests to get their luggage to a (very distant) room not mentioning showing how to find the way in a labirythh of lon, long corridors. We expected to have "all inclusive" like in other hotels and were very dissapointed to hear that wifi, room safe (!) and beds on the beach are extra paid and very expensive. It was mainly due to wrong information that we were given by our tour operator but the receptionist (Frau Eva) instead of explaining chose to be unpleasant. For the question "is there a sea view opportunity" she answered that it is paid extra 10 euro per day per person, which was obviously not true but it was the way to show us that there are more welcome guests here. I have never met such "welcome" in any hotel in the world.
On the other hand the meals were very good, staff very friendly and hotel location very beautiful. The beach was stunning. The hotel itself is away from the nearest "pueblo" which is both good and bad. Majority of the hotel guests were German tourist, very, very pleasant and interesting people. I do not understadnd the phenomenon of the "naturist" behaviour all over the beach though, but that's the other story to tell.
We were there in the second half of February and weather was rather bad. We had 4 sunny days out of 11. PLEASE TAKE CARE: the weather forecast from Fuerteventura which you can reed on Yahoo weather or anywhere else has nothing to do with reality. While my mobile phone with daily updatd weather showed "mostly sunny" everyday there was an overcast, sometimes rain. Seems like the local meteo station supports local business.

Room Tip: Paradoxally, rooms an the groundfloor (1005 - 1017) give fast access to the beach and pools and hav...

Located in just front (102 steep steps, though) of the island's best naturist beach, reaching 20 kilometers from Morro del Jable to Costa Calma, this is really the paradise on earth! The location is however a bit remote, so if you want to visit local shops, bars and restaurants, have to take a rent-car or taxi. Bus service is also available, but not very frequent.

Instead, the SBH hotel chain's all-inclusive concept is very cost-effective and good value for your money. Especially the Paseo Bar on the edge of the beachfront offers stunning sea view, cold refreshments, warm snacks and sunshine all at the same time. And they did not bother with wristbands or any other formalities like that.

Despite being in such naturist-oriented surroundings, the hotel itself does not have any naturist facilities, except a small sauna.

The only thing I was missing was a refrigerator in the room, but after all who needs that in an all-inclusive resort with beer taps all over free to use?

Room Tip: Rooms in the north-east wing (327 to 342 and 527 to 542) have sunshine on the balcony a bit later in...

The good: Rooms fine, staff nice, location on beach great, in-hotel store to buy water, etc at good prices contrary to what someone else said about there being only a vending machine
The bad: The stairs to the beach pretty much of a climb at 103 steps, very isolated so no where else to eat if you have no car
The ugly: The food was really not good. Lots of fruits and veggies, but meat dishes were terrible so mostly I ate pizza which was sometimes good and sometimes not. Have fish allergy so don't know about the quality but hubby said was only ok.

Resume: would go back if the food wasn't so terrible

Room Tip: Get one on high floor in front

This was our first Beach Holiday in this Sunrise Club Paraiso Playa Hotel and it was really good there. It is a very good managed Hotel with a good 4 Star Level. All was clean and we did liked the Design there very much. Especially we have to say, that the Food - Breakfast and Dinner - have been very choiceful and did taste very good. It was hot and fresh. Also good Choices of Drinks.

Just returned from 2 week trip to this hotel. Exceptional value. Excellent food and service. Beach is outstanding, wide and sandy, goes for miles unrestricted in either direction. Walked to Jandia lighthouse in an hour. Sea is crystal clear and turquoise, no trash whatsoever. Also, very few waves and a gradual drop off. For those with small children, the perfect beach. However, there are about a hundred steps to climb, so not for the disabled or elderly.

Three pools, plenty of lounge chairs, pool bar and promenade bar, Hotel is all-inclusive only, no armband necessary. Restaurant is on 5th floor overlooking sea. Hotel Bar, theater and disco on 4th floor. Outstanding service and selection at all of them.

Some notes of interest, the wind blows contantly and keeps you cool, but don't be fooled, the sun can burn you in a matter of minutes if you're fair skinned. Use lots of sunscreen.

You can't drink the hotel water because it's partially desalinated sea water, not because it's effluent. They cook with it. It's safe, it's clean. It's in the pool.

Bus # 5 south to Jandia or north to Costa Calma runs hourly, costs 1.40 € each way.
Bus # 1 also runs south to Jandia and north to Porto Rosario (airport) but doesn't stop at all towns along the way. Beware.

Hobie cats, wind surfing and kite surfing gear, etc. available to rent on the beach 300 meters south of hotel. They also have Segways! Careful with rafts or tubes, saw quite a few blow away into the open sea.

And yes, there are mosquitos, flys and cockroaches in the Canaries, so don't be shocked. You may see them outside at night, but not in the hotel. Keep your balcony door closed and use the AC to avoid any problems.

Beach towels available against 10 € deposit, 1 € to exchange for fresh.
Room safe costs 26 € a week. WLAN costs 7 € per day, 25 € a week, or there's an internet corner in the Lobby where you can get 10 minutes for a 1 € coin. Nothing else to buy except side trips.

That about covers it. This is the only hotel that I would ever go back to, and probably will.
Don't even think twice. Good luck and have fun. Your only disappointment will be going home!

Room Tip: All rooms face the sea, however upper floors (2-8) have better views. Lobby is on 6th floor street...

I've just arrived from this hotel after spending a week there, and I we spent a wonderful time there. The hotel is a bit isolated, so if you want to explore other places in Fuerteventura you have to rent a car or buy a trip. In that way you may visit the whole island, or even visit nearest Canary Islands. If you like to walk along the beach you may visit Morro Jable in the south - nice, small town with a wonderful sandy beach. But at first, you have to check high tide report, which is available at reception desk, because tides may block your way! The weather is sunny though sometimes a bit windy, but rainfall is rather unlikely.
I found the staff very firendly, and food tasty. There are bar available near the pool, so you may have your lunch there. Many activities are available at the hotel, such as aerobics, tennis, archery. The gym is also at your disposal. Generally speaking, I recommend this hotel, and personally would go back for a holiday!
