“Looking forward to a return visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 April 2012

Stayed here late February /March 2012 for seven nights. Upgraded to a sea view room prior to travelling............worth it!!! Would recommend the Hesperia if you want to get away from it all. It is a little out from Puerto del Carmen so instead we sampled the local restaurants in Puerto Calero. As a result, a far more relaxing holiday was had. Breakfast selection was excellent. Rooms were spotlessly clean though TV facilities could do with upgrading. Overall if you want a real getaway I would strongly recommend the Hesperia...........

Room Tip: We booked the upgrade through the hotel direct.

This hotel is simply lovely! The staff (mainly) are very friendly. It's clean, the breakfasts are wonderful and the rooms are gorgeous,

The bar (like so many hotel bars) is impersonal. Stuck in the huge foyer with no atmosphere and the staff were not pleasant but this was a small inconvenience, other staff in the hotel were Very pleasant. The reception staff/restaurant staff were charming.

The animation team Dory and Ellie work very hard to make sure you have a wonderful fun holiday, and are so friendly!

The location of the hotel was quiet - best to hire a car.

All in all a good experience.

This is a beautiful hotel. There are extensive grounds, which are maintained well. The hotel is in close proximity to the marina where there are nice, affordable seafood restaurants if you want to stay close to home. We ate the buffet breakfast in the hotel and the service was friendly - the premises are clean and well staffed. The spa facilities are expensive (28 E for half day) but well worth a visit at least once for the variety of showers/jacuzzis etc.

A very minor issue with the room is that there was a lack of nice toiletries - no conditioner or body cream but an all in one shampoo/shower gel from a pump. However, this was a second stay and we would not hesitate to come back!

Recommendations would be to hire a car from the hotel which was straightforward and you didn't even need a deposit. We drove around the island at a leisurely pace for 2 days. With good weather everywhere seems so pretty and relaxing. We stopped off at the Sunday market in Teguise, found our way to the secluded beaches at the south of the island, and visited beautiful little towns enjoying the fine seafood and wine.

Beautiful location and fabulous grounds and pools. But rooms are definitely tired and well below standard. Everything costs extra - pool towels, wi- fi, and even an iron! Although they didn't have any irons available during our stay! On the plus side, the staff were extremely attentive and friendly, and we found the food to be excellent - especially in the evening. This hotel was good value for money and did what it said on the tin - provided an excellent (hot) and comfortable 'out of season' relaxing base for a week's holiday.

Room Tip: Always go for a sea view. Ask for an upgrade on arrival - don't do this at time of booking - as...

Lets be clear - this is no longer a five star hotel. Probably due to recession, price wise, cheaper than might have been expected but standards are not there.Rooms getting tired, television sets
from year dot,no robes (de luxe sea view room) no tea coffee facilities, poor reception staff, pay deposit for pool towels pay extra to delay check out by three hours despite spending a week there,no visible door staff on arrival .Pools freezing cold, unswimmable. No hotel shop at all.
On the plus side excellent buffet breakfast and pool areas.Puerto Calero nice but after that a car is essential.Would not stay there again. If it is true five star you want then this does not even come close, just scraping into four star on world standards.Very sad.

We stayed at this hotel over Easter 2012. The positives were that the rooms were comfy and spacious, the grounds of the hotel were beautiful ,and the nearby resort of Puerto Calero is quiet and classy, with several very good restaurants. The staff were, for the most part, attentive and helpful.
However, there were some negatives. The one night we ate in the restaurant in the hotel ,the buffet on offer was not as good as one might expect, and we were grateful we had gone Bed&Breakfast rather than Full Board. The breakfast itself was ok but it's easier to get that right than dinner. There was always a delay before staff were ready to escort you to your table, even though there would be usually several available. The food in the Drago bar and Pool bar was ,frankly ,poor and one occasion, a tortilla de patatas was still frozen in the middle. I agree with another reviewer that the sunbeds were really uncomfortable.
There are pleasant walks from the hotel to see the harsh beauty of the landscape, and a paved path to Puerto Calero marina.
Overall,I would return to this hotel for a winter or spring break, but would opt to eat in the fine restaurants a 5-10 minute walk away in the evening.

My wife and I went to this Hotel for the first time, also my second visit to the island since long time ago.
This hotel is quite new and it's a good value for a 5 Stars (I would give it 4 stars instead) Checking in was smooth and fast, they were nice and explained everything about the hotel rules and facilities.
The room is so so, the bed was very good (We took the King size one) but the bathroom is not very well designed, because they are big but the space is not well distributed. They have the "old stile" tube and shower together (I hate this) in the same room that the WC and the Bidet (Still necessary nowadays???) which makes it too tight for me. Then they have the lavatories alone in a Biiiiiig room.
The breakfast is not that good as some people said here before, it's not bad at all, but not enough variety for sure, orange juice was not "fresh squeezed" but bottled. poor variety of fruit and eggs, and the worst thing, the cook didn't know how to make omelets or to fry an egg, very frustrating¡¡
Another con is that there's not WIFI in the room¡¡¡ that's so bad, you have to go to the main hall to get your emails but there's the children amusement working at the Lobby all the afternoon long. Very noisy¡¡
On the up side I would say, service is very nice and helpful, it's a quite hotel, in a great location, with nice and clean pools (There's one for children) by the ocean, it has a "private" sandy beach and the hotel landscape is very nice.
Also, some of the sun beds were broken, but in any case, spending the day by the pool was great.
For those interested, like me, there's a nice golf course at 10 minutes drive and another one at 30 minutes drive.
Lanzarote is a beautiful island and worths the trip so see how Tourism could be sustainable.

Room Tip: F and G buildings are closer to the pool, beach and to the path that goes to Puerto Calero, but quit...
