Hi, Just returned yesterday from the Las Palmeros Apt. Stayed for a long weekend with my Daughter (age 15) ,wanted somewhere quiet and safe and the apartments and the resort were everything we could have hoped for, We didn't spend much time in the Apt , we went on a B&B Basis as we wanted to explore the area and eat out while we were there. The small resort of S'Algar is beautiful, very low key with a couple of lovely restaurants and shops, it's a 15 min walk downhill to get there, and there is a bathing platform there from which one can access the Sea, although we were advised not to as there were Jellyfish in that area, we walked instead to a little sandy beach which is just around the headland and it was absolutely beautiful, and so worth the walk. We also got told of another little cove that is accessed by walking to the left of the Apt's over some scrub land, took a bit of finding, but definately worth the trouble as it again was gorgeous and my Daughter was able to Snorkle. (Was very popular with the locals & as we discovered was also a Naturist spot). Also not to be missed is the glass bottom boat that leaves from the port in Mahon,we got the Bus there, which goes from directly outside the Apt's, Mahon is Beautiful and Definately worth a visit. We really wished we had been able to stay for longer, i think the thing is, after reading all the negative reviews, a holiday is what you make it, i've stayed all over in different hotels in various countries and each brings it's own pleasures, I can think of no Negatives at all,but then we didn't go looking for negatives, we went looking for positives, and all i can say is if it's a peaceful, relaxing holiday you are after in a beautiful resort, then look no further.

Room Tip: All the Rooms have beautiful views from what i could see

Dear Julie487,

Thank you very much for your lovely words, we are very happy to hear that you and your daughter enjoyed your stay.
We are really sorry that the day you wanted to access the sea from the bathing platform there were Jellyfishes in the area. This always depends on the weather and the wind direction. Normally it's a lovely place to have a swim.

Also, thank you very much for sharing your travelling philosophy of looking for positives and making the most of your holiday.

We look forward to welcoming you again in the future.

Kind regards,

Estefi C.

Myself, husband and 10 year old son returned from Las Palmeras a few days ago. This is my first review, as I feel many previous comments are unjustified.

I researched the resort before booking, so wanted and expected a quiet resort. We found the staff to be be very hard-working and polite, and Paco (manager) was very approachable and helpful (and appears to work 24/7!). The pool was fabulous - my son had a great time in it. The complex was extremely clean and tidy, and apartments are bright, spotless and spacious. My only complaint would be that the water supply in the apartment was very erratic - hot water often came out the cold tap and cistern. Sitting at the bar area at night was lovely; entertainment was low-key - there if you wanted to be near it, or you can sit around the corner or in the lounge if you wanted peace. I find it hard to believe that people can complain about lack of table service - it took at most 2 mins to get served at the bar. Yes, there are mosquitoes around in the evening - it's only to be expected in such a location, so pack insect repellent like we did!

Food was plentiful, and although the salad bar was a bit repetitive, there was always a good choice at all mealtimes. We ate out at the Asia restaurant (near San Luis hotel) one night - the service and quality of food was exceptional. We highly recommend the honey-glazed spare ribs!

The sports area at the San Luis was excellent - a shame it's not promoted more at the apartments, as very few people seemed to go there. It is a pleasant 10 min walk, with great tennis courts, football, boules, putting etc, and a cafe which all-inclusive guests can use. The equipment was of a very high standard. Ros, the English lady who works there, was very friendly and helpful. We went there every day as my son loved it so much!

Other guests mixed well, and we met many lovely friendly folk. My son made friends with another boy his age (as per a previous reviewer!).

The bus to Mahon leaves from the front of the hotel and is a quick journey. Mahon is a great place to wander around - if you want great coffee and cake, try Mademoiselle Plume (a quirky French style cafe).

Overall, a lovely place for a quiet, relaxing holiday - we shall be back next year.

We arrived home yesterday after a week stay with our two daughters aged 17 & 19, we booked this holiday with Thomas Cook who rated this holiday as 4 star and having been on other 4 star holidays found this holiday to be disappointing, the bungalow that we stayed in was nice but did not come with the features advertised on Thomas Cook website which I feel is misleading. We paid 30 euros for both our daughters to receive wifi that kept cutting out and at best was very slow, so don't waste your money. The staff were very friendly but too few and far between as mentioned in a pervious review we spent alot of time hunting down the manager, who I must say was very accommodating. Our main criticism was the food area, far to small and if you like sitting eating your food with lots of flies as your companions then you will be fine, there are no measures in place to tackle the fly situation and we found ourselves having to guard each others plates if you wanted to get up and get a drink etc, this is such a shame as this is a big part of our holiday and our youngest daughter ate very little all week.

Menorca is such a beautiful clean island and S'Algar is no exception, we travelled into Mahon which we loved and Punta Prima beach is lovely, but be prepared to spend 15 euros each way for a taxi to these locations. Overall we did have a nice time and met some lovely people especially Sarah, Tony and family.

Dear Jane G,

Thank you for your review, we are glad to hear that you liked the island and could relax during your stay.

Regarding the food area, we would like to inform you that we do have devices installed in the restaurant so we can prevent flies on the food. Those are strategically located. We also have regular health controls in the complex who check that everything is in order to spanish health and safety laws.

We will forward your comments to the managing team, since our main goal is to improve day bay day.

We are sorry to know that your stay didn't met your expectations.

Kind regards,

Estefi C.

This was the 1st time my wife and I had stayed here. The bungalow was lovely and was cleaned every 2 days by a very conscientious and polite cleaner. We were fully inclusive and the bar staff / waitresses did a fantastic job in keeping us both well fed and watered. The food was very acceptable with the chef giving us a selection of both hot and cold meals at Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, which did change daily. The draught beer was lovely (Estrella) the 'non branded' spirits were acceptable and if you want white wine with your dinner I would recommend that you get it from the bar and not the dining area. The ice creams with waffle cones and the crisps were gorgeous. There are plenty of sun beds, and the pool was very clean. If you want entertaining at night then this holiday is not for you, but if you are looking for a resort that offers a 'laid back' atmosphere then this is for you. My wife had spent time researching what this resort / holiday had to offer before booking, so we knew exactly what to expect and we were not disappointed!

Just arrived home after 7 night stay with kids aged 14 & 11. Good points...clean nice pool area, room ok. Bad points...manager is receptionist, bar man and waiter, every time you needed reception you had to hunt him down, wifi only free for 1 hour per day, no lilos allowed in the pool which we only found out after our kids had been and spent their pocket money on them, no signs or notices anywhere to tell you this and no reasonable explanation given for 2 days. Then found out it was because the life guard is also the barman and cannot watch the pool properly. Room only cleaned once during our stay, lack of food choices and what little there was was often too tough to eat, no cocktails, grumpy bar men...we had to speak to one as he was grumpy and huffing and puffing at the kids every time they went to the bar, then another took an order from our friend then was told by a colleague to stop serving her as there a Spanish person waiting and they are to be served first! Entertainment was very poor in the evening, in the day time you could take a 10 min walk to sister hotel to use sports facilities but there is no communication between the hotels to let guests know what time the sports are taking place.
This is our 4th time all inclusive and is the worst we have been to, the 3 star rating is mainly for the nice pool area and the position of the apartments. Our stay was 100% improved by the company of Mexican Tony and his lovely family.

Room Tip: We paid extra for a bungalow and are pleased we did but don't think there is a bad room to have...

Dear Gallikgalli,

Thank you very much for spending your time writing about your experience in Las Palmeras.
We will forward your comments to the managing team. We would like to make clear that we consider all our clients are special and our main goal is that they have a nice holiday.
Please take note that our life guard can perfectly attend the swimming pool, but the fact that lilos are not allowed is because there is a security and sanitation law that pohibits its use in public swimming pools.
Reception is always available and happy to help the clients and inform them about everything whats going on in the Resort.

We feel really sorry that your stay didn't met your expectations.

Kind regards,

Estefi C.

Stayed here for a 10 day holiday with family. Had a great time. Chose these apartments because of the sporting activities that were included only a 10 minute walk away at the San Luis hotel. Did either Yoga or Pilates every morning while my son used the Gym.
We also played tennis for an hour each afternoon when it had cooled down a little. There are 4 very good courts which seemed little used. Also tried our hand at archery, rifle shooting, table tennis, and boules. Hired mountain bikes on one day and took a brilliant trip along the coast by way of the 'Cami de Cavalls'. ( A bridleway round the island). Very rough in parts but great fun and a good way to keep away from the traffic.
The food was well prepared and there was a good variety. We chose all inclusive as my son could eat for England and he was very pleased with the choice available.
We would definitely return for another holiday
