An average B&B. Very handy for Atlantic College just 2 miles down the road. The decor is all quite 'tired'. The room was really not very nice, small and outdated (certainly nothing like the photos!), although clean enough. A decent bar and a good breakfast in the morning.

A lot of our guests appreciate the oldness and charm of our hotel and the ambience which it offers. I am sorry that you did not enjoy your room, in that it was not the same as the pictures on the internet. We do not have pictures of all our rooms on the internet and thank you for bringing that matter to our attentionon, which is something we are looking to correct. As you mentioned your room, one of our standard, was clean and although had a new bathroom was not similar to the pictures. I appologise if you thought that all our rooms were the same, our pricing structure reflects the difference in rooms ranging from £50 to £100 per night plus breakfast. Our standard and traditional rooms offer excellent value and most have new bathrooms, but for those wanting something better I would suggest booking at our 4 poster, bridal or one of our traditional rooms. Most people including many regulars tend to elect for a standard room as they acknowledge and appreciate the value. Improvements to our hotel are a regular ongoing occurence. All our carpets are new, the majority of our bathrooms have been upgraded and we continue. I hope that if you decide to stay with us again that you sample one of our other style rooms. Thank you for your comments.

Stayed 2 nights for business in nearby Cardiff, beautiful little town, very attractive hotel, room was really nice (although the ceiling tiles were a little odd) and had superb food for breakfast and evening meals on both days. The bathroom felt brand new, like I was the first to use it, and the towel rail heated the whole bathroom (unlike many hotels I've stayed in!). Twice-cooked scallops as a starter were very memorable, and if you get the chance, try the sauce made with Penderyn Welsh whisky with your steak. The bar with sofas was very comfortable. It's a good idea to bring a sat nav for finding the hotel though!

Thank you for your kind comments. All our food is sourced locally and cooked freshly by our chefs. So many people seem surprised at the high level and standard of our food, that it is indeed a pleasure to receive your feedback. The Pendyren whiskey sauce has indeed been commented on by practically everone that has tried it. Our hotel is a little secluded from the town and a satnav certainly helps. There are directions on our web site directly to our hotel from whatever point someone commences their journey. Hopefully you wont need either next time that you may elect to visit us.

Well, there are so many good things about this hotel......
Firstly its location is perfect being just about a 7 minute stroll from the centre, situated in a quiet street, and only a five minute drive to the beach. Then the hotel itself was was cosy, comfortable and clean, and decorated in a lovely olde worlde style. The bathrooms were modern and clean, stocked with beautiful products. The staff were friendly, professional and very helpful, and the food was good quality, delicious and generously portioned. I also loved the peaceful and sunny front garden where we enjoyed a coffee on a warm Saturday morning. Additionally, this is one of the few hotels that does a good single room at affordable prices (most charge extra for this!), and mine was overlooking the front garden. I'd wholeheartedly recommend this as a good place to stay, be it on your own or with friends. It in turn had been recommended to me by friends.
Thanks for a lovely stay.

My Wife and I had our Wedding Reception in the West House recently. Can't recommend the place enough. The surrounding area and the hotel itself has a real rural charm. I found the staff extremley friendly and helpful, as well as the meal catering to Vegetrians/Vegans in our party. They also served us the night before the wedding in the bar late into the night and even later on the wedding night. We had a fabulous time and were very grateful! Room was clean & comfortable, with an excellant bathroom. Breakfast the next morning was fantastic too! All the guests were happy with their stay & a few have already made plans for weekend visits to Llantwit again.

It's always the bathroom that lets a hotel down.... This was a pleasant small room but the ensuite shower room was shabby to say the least. Nowhere to hang towels as the towel rail was no longer there - just two holes in the wall. Paint peeling above the shower - and one wall covered in mould with dirty streaks where condensation had run down the wall. The hotel itself is pleasant but looks as though the place is struggling financially - chipped walls, damaged table tops in the bar, gloomy lighting, Our room overlooked the back garden but the paths had not been weeded, and the garden needed some tlc. And why a plastic sheet on the bed - surely not necessary unless in a family room? The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was lovely but please put some money into the place as it could be lovely!

We inadvertently placed you into a room that our handyman had left unfinished. He had removed the towel rail which had been pulled off the wall and was installing a new extractor fan which had been on order. The one in the bathroom had stopped working and had been the cause of the condensation running down the wall. We immediately transferred you to an another room once we realised that the room should have been out of service. If this was not clearly explained and an apology extended to you at the time, then I hope you will accept my personal apologies. Bathrooms are very important and form part of our extensive improvement plans. We have upgraded 18 of our 21 bathrooms, the last few scheduled for the new year. The Bar and lounge are also due to be refurbished, but we are having a lot of objections from our regulars who like the ambience the rooms offer with its furniture and old used look. Everything is subjective, however we do intend to change it in the new year.
The few weeds in the gravel path had been exposed once we had removed a Marquee from our walled garden. The inclement weather precluded us from removing them immediatelly.
I trust that you were not inconveinenced to much and that you were happy with the room that we moved you to.
We are always making considerable ongoing improvements to our hotel. All our carpets are new, the majority of our bathrooms have been upgraded and we continue to invest in our hotel and strive to offer good service and value.
