Porcupine Ridge is a magnificent spot a few minutes out of the town of Sabie, and the house is pristine and the rooms comfortable and immaculate. The breakfasts were wonderful and the proprietors helpful. The dogs will even take you for a walk up the mountain!! I had no access to any sitting area besides my room, and was sorely disappointed when, needing to leave one day earlier than planned, despite having provided 5 bed nights to an otherwise empty establishment, the proprietor in a very stern way demanded the payment for the sixth night, which she was entitled to as it was "in the contract". I duly paid but recommend all potential guests ensure they are willing to lose their money, regardless of what clientele they might provide, if their plans have to slightly change as there is no flexibility!!

It is unfortunate when a guest leaves Porcupine Ridge without feeling we tried 110% to make their stay memorable.
We make no apology for having a Cancellation Policy however, which is explained in detail in our Booking Confirmation e-mail, our Check-in Form and our Room File. Regarding this comment, we have a lovely guest lounge and two large covered verandahs for the use of guests.
We hope our other reviews speak for themselves.
Best regards
Janet & John Wills

From the moment we arrived we knew we were in a great place, both location and accommodation. We were loving South Africa, had had a long day and were exhausted and looking forward to rest and comfort. We had a delightful stay. Janet's greeting, care and attention, swept away fatigue. The rooms are superb. We stayed in two, having planned 3 nights we stayed for 5! Breakfast was also superb. The nearby canyon is amazing and we revisited Kruger. The hospitality and warmth of both John and Janet was fabulous. I was wary of hosted accommodation but this experience 'blew away' any concerns. We loved the company of Alice and George. The verandah has magnificent views- a great place for long cups of tea or an evening pre-dinner drink, and the nearby waterfall is beautiful- a glorious walk. We thoroughly enjoyed the Wild Fig restaurant and the Woodsmans take on Greek food was very enjoyable. We had a great time in Sabie and Porcupine Ridge was a highlight .

Room Tip: The two front rooms we occupied were beautiful.

We stayed at the Porcupine Ridge Guest House after a family wedding near Pretoria. We were a party of nine family and friends. The proprietors Janet and John were very welcoming and they gave us very sound advice about the Kruger Park, nearby restaurants and other places of interest. The rooms were first class, comfortable beds with electric blankets. The breakfasts were fabulous. We felt so welcome in the lounge area and the boys even got to catch up n the latest football scores! The gardens and grounds are simply gorgeous and a short walk to the rear of the house will take you to the most amazing ridge with a view of a waterfall and the surrounding countryside. Our stay was so enjoyable we didn't want to live. Don't miss the local Sabie coffee plantation and the Old Fig Tree Restaurant. The Botanical Gardens are also well worth a trip too. Janet and John are regular visitors to the Kruger National Park and can offer lots of advice on short and long trails, safaris etc. The B&B is only about 40 minutes away from one of the main gates to Kruger

There was nine in our group and we were looked after by Janet and John, not just morning and evening but anytime during the day when we were there. Their house was our house and, with a 5 year old adventurous boy in our group, that was above and beyond what would normally be expected. The breakfasts were "any size" required and excellent in quality, the rooms were spotless and lots of little touches to make it home-from-home. When we went to The Kruger National Park, they made us a glorious picnic for the trip. In our opinion, the the best B & B we have ever stayed in, anywhere, "period".

Porcupine Ridge is a former goldminers house and it is truely a gold mine! What a great place to stay and the owners make you feel very very welcom! All the details made it perfect. The house also has a very nice veranda and a big flowery garden. We loved staying there and really felt at home. First we stayed for one night but we came back for a second one later in the week. The guest house furthermore makes a good base for visiting Kruger Park, de Blyde River Canyon and is situated along the Panorama route. Whenever we'll return to South Africa and Kruger Area, we'll certainlty want to stay in this pearl again!
