“One of the best food experiences”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 June 2014

One of the best food experiences we had in South Africa in 5 years.
I will emphasize that our recent visit to the place was not on the same level as the first two times. My expectations probably were too high. First of all the menu did not have what I would call the highlight of the previous visits - liver pate wrapped in a thin slice of veal with peppadew. It was simply excellent. As everything else we've tried, well presented and surprisingly good. And the service was excellent. It was so good that it was supposed to be one of the highlights of our third visit to Panorama Route in November 2013. But it wasn't. Nonetheless I cannot forget the previous experience (during the high season). So my rating is based on my experience 2-3 years ago and not on the one in November. I know the place can offer wonderful feast to your taste buds. Just probably it's not always possible to achieve due to different influx of people in low and high seasons.

“Our second visit”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 May 2014

I have rated this restaurant in the past with the highest mark and I am very disappointed that I have to rate it much lower this time. Having visited it about a year ago by a pure chance and enjoying wonderful experience there, this year we drove to Sabie from Pilgrim's Rest just to visit it again. Our meal was tasty, but nothing close to our previous one here. Trout was full of bones to the extent that it was almost inedible, deserts were nothing to write home about and the worst of all was one of the waitresses who was getting into lengthly arguments with an elderly patron at the neigbouring table about forthcoming RSA elections.
