“Good food, friendly staff, great location”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

We had a late Sunday lunch at this pretty country restaurant which is in a former pub. There were nine of us all with quite different tastes which the menu stood up to with no problem.

This old pub is quite a rambling building and we were seated in a small room at the back. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon and the ambience inside the room with its open windows was perfect. We chose to sit indoors but there is plenty of outdoor seating in the shade or in the sun.

We all enjoyed our meals and found the service to be warm and friendly. We took our time and were not hurried by the staff. One person in the party found that the bean burger she had ordered was luke warm, which was disappointing. However, it was taken away and brought back heated up although it was still not piping hot. Another person in the party had bean burgers as well and they were hot - so we were a bit baffled about that one.

Everything else was fine and we would definitely go back to give it another chance. It was very busy so it is clearly a very popular place to eat.

“Great place to eat”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

We decided to give the Fountain a try for dinner. Arriving at about 6.15, we were greeted by a pleasant lady who let us choose a table and got us some drinks. We ordered the food and some french bread and butter turned up on the table; How many places do you see that these days? The food was great, I have posted pictures of it here and the bill was reasonable. We had great service, lovely surroundings and will definitely be back soon.

“Yet another good meal”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

Emergency road-works around Tuddenham almost turned us back home - but we persevered and we were glad we did. My wife, as often, had calf's liver while I had the superb "duo of Suffolk lamb" - two small cutlets and the most succulent braised shoulder. "Knickerbocker Glory" was a new addition to the dessert menu: as we had expected, it turned out to be a rather "upmarket" version of the seaside version (if you want that, go to the Flora Tea Rooms at Dunwich!) The Fountain has now been consistently good over many years.

“Good Food and Attentive Staff”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

I had occasion to visit this pub twice when I was on holiday in Suffolk - once for lunch and once for an evening meal - and on both occasions I was impressed by the quality of the food, the service and the ambiance. There is a good range of pub/bistro/restaurant food on the menu to appeal to all palates. For the lunch I had the fishcakes and I was recommended to try the sweet potato chips, which were delicious! In the evening, I had a fish salad platter, which consisted of a good selection selection of fish pate, mackerel, beetroot and herring. Prices are reasonable considering the quality on offer and the staff are discreet but attentive. Tables are placed sensibly so that conversations can be had without loud music ruining the atmosphere. It is a pub which would appeal to all ages and tastes and there is plenty of parking outside.
