“Thorpe Park stay”
Reviewed 24 May 2014 via mobile

Booked through thorpe park. Requested via email a high floor room and on arrival were upgraded free of charge to a family suite on 10th floor. Room was huge! 8 miles from thorpe park.
Self service buffet breakfast which was average but nice.
Ideal location for plane spotting.
2 min walk to train station which for about £8.50 will take you into London in 20mins and for that all the underground is included.
Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel was booked through thorpe park which is only 8 miles away.
Hotel is clean with plenty of parking. I emailed prior to ourstay and requested a high floor room and we got upgraded to a family suite free of charge.
Breakfast is a self service buffet which was ok.
2 min walk to train station which takes you into London in 20mins and costs like £8.50 and that covers you for the underground too.
Great location for plane spotting.
No complaints. Had a pleasant stay and would definitely return.

The St Giles Classic Hotel in Feltham is a typical airport hotel with a lot of tourist groups and airline staff coming and going. After I landed at Heathrow Terminal 5, it took me less than half an hour to travel to Feltham using bus 490. The check-inn at reception was fast and efficient. The room was not to small, but a bit stuffy. There was some cooling, but not enough on a hot day in May to make the roomtemperature comfortable. So at night, duvet and topsheet were unnecessary items. The room and bathroom (bathtub and shower combined) were clean. The bed wasn't very comfortable. The matress was lumpy and the pillows were thin and didn't offer any support for neck and back. I asked for harder pillows and got them. Since I was only staying for three nights, I didn't ask for a new matress, but the one in room 703 is lumpy and clearly past its prime. It should have been replaced a long time ago. A breakfast was included in the room rate, but although the breakfast room (bar and restaurant as well) was large, with all the tour groups there was little space on some days. There wasn't enough staff available, so tables couldn't be cleared fast enough for the next guests. And if you didn't arrive early, a lot of items were no longer available, since they were not replenished. The hotel was close to Feltham Rail Station and a daily travelpass zone 1 to 6 off-peak (the cost should be added to the roomrate if you are here to visit central London) is GBP8.90. A daypass for the bus is cheaper at GBP4.40, but it will take you three buses and 90 minutes to get to central London while travelling by train will take you to London Waterloo Station in 30 minutes. Overall, the price-quality ratio of this hotel is allright. I would have rated it four out of five, if the hotel hadn't charged for using wifi. And not a nominal fee, but an outrageous GBP10 per day. Since everyone travells with a smartphone or a tablet these days, charging for using Internet is ridiculous. There were some desktops in the lobby, but even there they wanted GBP1 for every twenty minutes of usage, Even in the Third World wifi is now free in every hotel. Over the years, I have visited more than 25 hotels in the London area, but this was the first time in ten years they asked me to pay for wifi. I declined because there is a McDonald, Starbucks and JD Wetherspoons pub within walking distance all with free wifi. The hotel should change this policy.

The Hotel is located in the Town of Feltham, just 20 minutes by Bus from ANY of Heathrow Terminals, BUS 285 (24/7) from Central Bus Station and BUS 490 from Terminals 4 & 5.
Feltham British Rail Staton is 5 mnutes walk from Hotel wit excellant train service to Central London.
Feltham itself has a small shopping Centre with couple of Restaurants, but Buses 117 and 235 Take you to Hounslow
a Larger Town more shops and Restaurants.
Hotel has VERY CLEAN ROOMS and an EXCELLENT STAFF. There is an IN HOUSE Italian Restuarant with a limited but varied Menu and they do have everyday an Evening Special Menu at about GBP 9.50 +/-.
I stayed at this Hotel on an average of 10 times a YEAR for the last 4 or 5 years its the ONLY HOTEL I use passing through London. A GREAT INEXPENSIVE PLACE TO STAY.

Having booked this hotel, judging from Internet websites, overall it proved to be very disappointing. Before arrival an email was received offering on-line check-in so as to speed things up on arrival - just collect your key from concierge. The website did not accept AMEX. On arrival it was to find that no action, other than noting I have paid by registering on-line check-in, had apparently been taken. The receptionist still had to allocate room etc., so there was no chance of collecting key from concierge. So don't bother to check-in on-line. When I asked about it, I was told nobody really uses it and if you want anything better to ask at reception ! ! ! I had requested by prior email a quiet room, but I was allocated one by the lifts. Informed when asking that nothing else was available. I had ordered a double room for single occupancy and paid the extra for this. The room was very small and whilst clean the bed size was the minimum that could pass as a double bed. Reception confirmed that I had got a double room. I wonder how small the single rooms are ? ? ?
The air conditioning control was broken and the room was very hot. The solution, called reception who came to open the locked window...so much for quiet room eh?
This weekend there was a junior international rugby group staying so everything noisy. The restaurant at night, whilst the service, presentation and actual food was good value, it was a case of being stuck between karaoke at one end of the dinning room and a group watching TV sports at the other end. No chance for quiet chat with friends over a meal.
The gym was small and totally unattended. One had to get the key off concierge to enter. Whilst the equipment was fine most of it relied on the user wearing a pulse sensor. As these were not available it rendered interaction with the machines and their programmes useless.
Breakfast was the feeding of the "five thousand" - school meals. It was all totally self-service with no cutlery or anything laid on the tables. The staff were attentive and friendly but seemed to have to work at double speed to cope. Not a good start to the day. I paid some £56 for the room - double room single occupancy booked in advance, which in London terms is not expensive but on arrival one cannot miss the sign which says rooms available from £45. If you want an inexpensive place to stay, at a hotel which has hints of "holiday camp/school days/biscuit factory" environment than St Giles is AOK for you. BUT if you want good hotel with a "real" hotel feel then you need to stay at one of the better chain airport hotels for slightly more money.

Room Tip: Try and see if they have got LARGER rooms ! ! !

We stayed on a park and fly package , leaving our car for 8 nights at the hotel and collecting on our return it only cost £95 with a full buffet breakfast . Well worth it considering airport parking charges. It was not far to the airport and cost us only £20 including tip to get to terminal 3. You can get a bus if you prefer. The room was comfortable , breakfast was very good and evening meal was alright for the price . I would certainly use it again.

After reading reviews, i emailed before my stay to request a quiet room, which in fairness was arranged and we were not bothered by noise from planes or trains during our stay.  However, the hotel was filled with what appeared to be drunk soldiers and the bar area was very noisy, as was the corridors.  We found a man asleep on the floor of our corridor and there was constant noise during the night from the rooms surrounding us.  I was in bed by 10.30pm (due to being sick from the food!) and spent most of the night listening to drunk singing, swearing and arguing from other guests!  Had we known that the hotel would be full of drunk men we wouldn't have booked!

Next came the restaurant, which I can only describe as the worst meal I've ever eaten!  My friend ordered the vegetarian pizza, while I ordered the garlic mushroom crustini and the ceasar salad.  The salad was lettuce and a few bits of chicken smothered in a thick garlic sauce which was inedible!  The garlic mushrooms were so salty that they actually made me sick and we ended up eating non of our food!  We told the waiter that it was horrible but nothing was done and we ended up paying for the food and leaving the restaurant as my friend didn't want to make a fuss!  Within 15 minutes I was being sick and this ruined our night! Hence me being in bed by 10.30!!

If you stayed here on a normal night and didn't eat in the restaurant then its passable! But we paid £78 for 1 night room only plus £28 for inedible food which made me vomit so it was an expensive night!!

Room Tip: Airport side. 3rd floor no exterior noise
