“Amasra's Best”
Reviewed 23 July 2013

Amasra is not noted for it's lodging. We followed Trip Advisor recommendations and were very pleased. Owned by the town's mayor, we stayed in Emin overnight in midJuly 2013 in the efficiency apartment on the top floor. The apartment was clean and the private balcony overlooking the harbor made the price worth it. Air conditioning was welcome in the bedroom. There is a double bed (American size) and an extra cot. Outlets were provided but we couldn't receive the wi-fi although the signal was strong. Only one side of the bed has a light (there is an overhead light), so select that side if you're a night reader! The bathroom is good: clean, tiled, nicely lit, and a small window in the shower allows one a peek of the bay and town. The showerhead works very well--a pleasure. Hand gel and shower gel is provided as is a hair dryer. Bring your own bar soap, shampoo (if you don't like using shower gel), and tissues.

A separate kitchen offers a minibar and cooking facilities. We didn't use them, wanting to sample the local food at restaurants. But it contains everything you need to eat in the apartment.

Host Sennur Kullu is wonderful--friendly and efficient. She has worked as host here for ten years and can anticipate your needs. Breakfast is served in a very pretty courtyard filled with trees and flowers. Sennur guides you to the extensive breakfast buffet, makes you a delicious Turkish egg dish, and offers either tea or Nescafe. The bakery next door supplies the fresh breads AND the delicious smells of baked goods.

Being in the middle of town (great for walking), parking is a problem. But it you're lucky, there's room in the square near the hotel or in the autopark nearby.

A block away is the good fish restaurant Mustafa Amca's Canli Balik Restaurant where we ate twice. Restaurant abound, all within walking distance, as is the shoreline. We will return in the fall when fishing resumes and definitely stay here. Highly recommended.

We booked the apartment on the top floor & it was well worth the extra few euros for the extra room & our own private balcony overlooking the harbour - fantastic views. Great for sitting out with a glass of wine in the evenings watching the town below. The town swelled with local tourists on the weekend but went back to a quite seaside village during the week. I think in peak season it may just remain busy. Parking was not a problem as there was parking around the corner in the harbour car park. The location is excellent - in the centre of town, walking distance to everything. The apartment was spotless, well equipped and a very comfy bed & beautiful breakfasts.

Sennur is the most wonderful, friendly, efficient host. She made us feel so welcome & nothing was a problem. Very patient in trying to help us improve our turkish :)

Amasra is a great little town, the locals are very friendly & Emin is a top choice for accommodation. Highly recommended.

We had a very comfortable, clean room with a modern bathroom and an awesome view of the sea. The hotel is very centrally situated and everything is within short walking distance. We enjoyed the early morning smell of freshly baked bread, the calling of the fish sellers at the harbour opposite and the cool of the big leafy tree in front of the building. Delicious breakfasts were served by friendly and efficient Sennur in the beautiful courtyard. We spent many hours exploring the streets of the town and climbing to the highest point where we were rewarded with fantastic views. The Sefa park was our favorite spot to drink çay and eat sunflower seeds at sunset. Would definitely stay there again. We payed Tl 100 per night and it was booked for us by our hotel in Safranbolu.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a sea view

If you have a car, one of the biggest issue in Amasra is parking. Thanks to Hotel's friendly managers, they managed parking issue very smoothly.
Hotel is in the middle of city, that gives you ability to walk-visit anywhere worth to see it or taste it. It's very good because when you got tired after long-walking or tasting-drinking different type of foods, you find yourself in your room quickly.
They also have a beautiful garden, super green and refreshing, they're serving tea, water, cold-drinks for free at garden almost 24 hour.
Quality at hotel is quite good, our room was very clean, shower-toilet had renovated by modern tools and was extremely useful.

Fantastic accommodation in a wonderful town. The hotel was excellent in all aspects, rooms were a very good size and extremely clean. The staff was very friendly, did not speak a lot of English but was not an issue. The breakfast they serve in the mornings is also excellent and served outside in the hotel's courtyard. Would not hesitate recommending this accommodation. The town was also very cool, the beaches were at best average. Try to make it to the market that occurs in the centre – well worthwhile

Room Tip: Ask for a room that overlooks the square outside

We spent two beautiful nights in this Pension. Its right next to the Black See, and the rooms have an amazing view on it. The building has a very nice garden where the delicious breakfast was served. We enjoyed the whole holiday. The staff is amazing and they help you all the time. The whole hotel is very clean, small and you feel like at home! Thank you for everything!

Room Tip: Rooms on the See side!

This is a pension, not luxurious but comfortable. The rooms were very clean, the bathroom new, the breakfast choices were great for such a small place. The lady who seems to run the pension is extremely friendly and helpful - Turkish hospitality at its best. The location is perfect, right in the centre of town. I would certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: If you want the apartment, it is on the third floor with no elevator - however you get a big balcony...
