“Better Than Expected”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2014

We were 2 over 60's couples and not sure about the holiday after some bad reviews so were quite pleased. We booked with booking.com not RCI and had a spacious apartment on the first floor although bedroom 2 was a bit sparse. The balcony was big, but we only had sun from 14.30 to 16.30 whereas the balconies further away from the main road had sun a lot longer.

The pool area was good and usually quiet and the bar open in the afternoon.

Although our linen/towels were not changed, it is a self contained apartment with a washer so a tip would be to bring washing tablets and do your own. There is an excellent supermarket by the back gate, reasonable prices and many offeratas. We knew it was hilly down to both Los Gigantes & Santiago and a pull back up the hill after your meal. The nicest restaurant was the Austrian one next to the large hotel towards Santiago, however a little gem is the restaurant a few yards up the hill at the back of the complex.

All the buses stop outside the hotel so there is no need to walk down the hill to the terminus and there are frequent buses to Los Christianos.

Room Tip: Ask for one at the front, sea view, not on the ground floor and as far away from the main road as po...

The apartments are spacious and we were lucky to get one on a higher floor with a nice sea view. Some updating would do the bathrooms a lot of good! The pool area is nice and sunny but a bit overlooked and noisy due to building work. The prices are very low and we didn't expect a 5 star resort, so overall we had a really nice stay here.

Room Tip: We booked garden view but ended up with a sea view. This is definitely much better as the sea side i...

I'll be brutally honest in this review and speak as I find. I booked this complex after struggling to find a three bed apartment on the island for our stay in late feb/early march. Although it had up until the end of this year good reviews, after we booked all we saw were negative comments which really dampened our enthusiasm to come on holiday. Thankfully we ignored the later comments and still came to stay here.

We stayed on the the third floor of the front block and had fantastic views. Don't know where other reviewers stayed but we slept with the blackout blinds open and not once were we awoken before 8/9am by and noise of any description. Being owners at Anfi del Mar in Gran Canaria, we have moulded to high expectations when holidaying and must admit that to this being one of the best impromptu holidays we have booked. The room was fantastic with everything in place, furnishings to a high standard and every eventuality catered for.

Being critical this is what was wrong......

Pool on first few days was chilly, but still usable
Wifi worked 90% of the time but hey was free so whose complaining?
Not enough coffee mugs but we didn't bother complaint so maybe they don't know
Personally no kids club but didn't really effect our lot but only a personal observation

In general couldn't find any other constructive fault with the complex, staff friendly and helpful, snack bar staff eager to please, location for restaurants and walks spot on and views stunning. Unless you ask you don't realise you can also use the pool opposite the complex for free and also spend the day at the Barcelona Santiago for a small fee, all inclusive of course!

In a nutshell, great complex, great location and would definitely return.

Room Tip: Ensure you pick the front block for the views. No restaurant or kids clubs hence one star rating!

Based on some of the recent reviews, we were expecting a complete dump infested with ants, but it really turned out to be great. Good views, and our place (apartment 314) was quiet. Having the supermarket nearby was perfect (just right outside the back gate, so we didn't have to go through the parking garage all the time). There was weak wifi in the apartment, but that didn't bother us so much, since we went to Tenerife to be outside! While not being especially close to the best restaurants, it's also conveniently located between Los Gigantes and Puerto de Santiago, so you have more restaurant choices.

The apartment was large and very comfortable for two people (two bedrooms and two bathrooms), though there were some negatives. There were a lot of ants that started to appear during our first day there, but getting a plug-in insecticide diffuser solved the problem. Probably not a healthy solution, though... There was also a bit of a drain smell in one bathroom, as other reviewers had noted. Not the end of the world, though, and we definitely felt like we got our money's worth!

Room Tip: We were happy with 314 (in the annex building), but higher-numbered 300-apartments should give even...

Our apartment was on the top floor so the views were excellent but we did not get sun on the balcony until mid afternoon. The apartment was well equipped but somewhat tired and there was a recurring bad drain smell, also the towels and linen had seen better days. However the location between Los Gigantes and Puerto Santiago within walking distance of both was excellent and gave some useful exercise coming back uphill to the apartment. There is an OK supermarket within 50m and a new Aldi being built a similar distance away. Several excellent restaurants within walking distance. The lift was essential unless you are super fit.

Room Tip: Good views from 3rd and 2nd floors

We arrived at around 1.00pm after a 4am start to be told to return at 4.00pm 3 hours later, not everyone gets this treatment as we found out.
We were given a 3 bed apartment (room 234) which being on the top floor was great, although it therefore had the best views we got no sun until around 1.00pm and we lost it again around 5.00pm.
Every morning we are woken at 6am by the street cleaner who has a mechanical blower that does nothing except blow dust all over the cars plus making a hell of a racket, so be warned you will get the 6am wake up call !!
We were furthest from the main road but it is still very noisy with all the buses and lorries, additionally the pool belonging to another complex is directly opposite so if there's noisy kids you will no all about it.
The apartment itself does have wifi but it is a very slow hit and miss affair.
The TV was as old as the hills and did not work, we were promised a replacement which did come but only after a lot of grief, the same with the DVD player.
Although a 3 bedroom apartment there is barely enough in the kitchen for just the two of us and every piece of equipment has seen better days and should be replaced, then again most of the contents of the apartment are like that, turn curtains, stained chairs, dipping beds etc.
Please remember I am only writing about apartment 234, I cannot comment on any other.
In conclusion it is a very expensive place that certainly does not live up to expectations and certainly there are better places to stay, the problem is finding them !

Room Tip: Try to find out where you are in the block as many have no views at all, there are better places esp...

Booked this in all good faith after reading a glowing professional website. The apartment 313 is spacious. But extremely tired. If you do not wear slippers whilst in the apartment you will have to wash your feet several times a day! The cleaning is done as best as the young girls are able with the equipment and time at their disposal. The pool advertised as one of the only heated pools around was so cold it took your breath away, and the baby pool was even colder. The snack bar was closed almost all of the time. We arrived at 8.30pm and the place was in darkness. Fortunately the odd job man saw us and unlocked the reception and took us to our room.
New to the area it would have been useful if reception staff had been present to tell us about the Supermarket behind the complex so that we could have bought something for supper!
This particular apartment is not that well equipped for the price that we payed.
We like the area and will be returning next year, but will be staying at La Rosa down the road which we believe to be more professionally managed and the facilities provide better value for money.
