“All you need for a relaxing holiday!”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

Vigilia park has had some bad press regarding it's self contained apartments and their need of some upgrading, but whilst this is true in part it demeans what is a lovely place to stay. The complex is full of places to eat and shop without going outside if you so wish, although I would not recommend it as you would miss some of the loveliest scenery, restaurants and people it has ever been my pleasure to meet. El Mason restaurant is within 100 yards of the hotel and I cannot praise highly enough the welcome you receive or the quality of the food and drink. This is not a resort for young people as there is very little nightlife, but as a place to relax and unwind, it really can't be beaten for the price. With regards to the apartments, they are spacious and comfortable and quite adequate for people who will be eating out and only using them for rest purposes. The staff are both helpful and courteous, and I would go back here any day and twice on Sundays!!

Room Tip: Request high floor, sea view by E.Mail the week before travel ( 131 is a good room)

We have stayed at this hotel for approx 6 years now with 2 x 2 week stays each year, so about 12 visits.
We are completely satisfied with all it has to offer plus the location is perfect for us.
We fly to Tenerife Sur airport and then make our way to Puerto Santiago on the local bus (approx 8 euros per person)
We always go self-catering so we can use the local bars and restaurants for meals etc. By doing this we have got to know the local people and them us. We do not feel like tourists but guests as the local hospitality is great.
The hotel has a good room cleaning service and any maintenance issues are dealt with immediately reported.
Some rooms need updating and this is an ongoing process as we see this being done. .
We have not eaten in the hotel as we like to do our own thing and find bars, cafes and restaurants for ourselves.
This place is like a second home to us and we are welcomed back each time we go.

Room Tip: Take what you are given and enjoy it.

That's is awful food and when you are paying money for all inclusive you are waiting for the good service and accommodation .
Unfortunately , we didn't get any good and positive emotions of our staying there. In our room when was a rain the roof was leaking and staff put on a stair some towels .... Nice decision. Even more, you have to buy soap, shampoo and other necessary things.
Only one plus of staying there is a good and amazing view from the roof pool and good location.
Never ever we gonna go there again!

We had a great experience here. We were lucky enough to receive a third floor sea view based appartment which gave us unhindered views to the sea and local cliffs. The room was enormous, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living rooms, dining area and compact kitchen. I have stayed in the eastern med before now and the facilities were far more impressive here with microwave, tv, hairdryer, iron etc. The room was clean and seemed in good order although the hob was old and burnt my husband's hand when we failed to turn it off properly. There was the occassional smell of drains in the corridor but we had heavy rains when we stayed. We mentioned it late on Saturday eve to reception and within ten minutes a man was up pouring some cleaning fluid down the loos and the smell went away. We didn't eat there but used self catering for our meals. I can recommend Scooby's for a snack and Casa Pedro or Corales just down the hill for lovely good value Spanish style food. The hill is steep but easily walkable. It's a great base for getting around the island and not for being one of the crowd. We could not have been happier.

Room Tip: Sea view, third floor was great

We wanted a week in the sun - got it. Arriving at reception we found the staff friendly and helpful. Clean, friendly ,convenient ,comfortable, self catering apartment - got it. Okay so the furniture, furnishings and colours were a bit dated but we wanted a base to have the odd meal, leave our belongings, wash/shower and sleep. The facilities and equipment were all we needed so we ate there more than expected. The pool and social areas were good and the staff there were friendly, helpful and informative. We would have no hesitation in staying there in the future.

Room Tip: ASK for what you want. We forgot to add a requirement but having re-contacted the travel company we...

Its a 3 star and more than adequate for the price. perhaps a little dated but I have stayed here twice and found the apartment clean. a well equipped kitchen and even though facing onto the street it gave a sense of 'being in Spain'!. The small street had a certain amount of noise, but once the balcony doors were closed and the black-out curtains drawn the noise was minimal. The staff..Giancomo on reception, the hard working restaurant staff and cleaning women were most diligent and friendly. The evening entertainment is hilariously atrocious but maybe it appeals to families! Easy (although hilly) walking distance to Playa La Arena and Los Giagantes. Bus stop right outside the apartments. Great pool area on the roof and adequate pool downstairs. Would reccomend for a budget winter stay!

Room Tip: Probably best to request a sea view if you want peace and sunsets.

I have been living in pto. santiago years ago, so i knew the area and knew vigillia park (not the apartments)
I would like to give some information about what you should know before you book. I wanted to stay in vigilia park, so I looked on the internet to get the best deal. I was a little shocked as this hotel was discribed as luxury 3* or even 3*+ apartment, all-inclusive with snacks etc. ALL NOT TRUE!! Vigillia park has 2 key's so if you want a 3*+ don't go here, they don't do snacks and have very limited drinks in there all-inclusive.. So what ever your agency tells you; it's a basic apartment, where you can leave your wallet if you go to the pool and want a drink. You can't leave it at home! If you want a holiday inside the resort where kids can go for there ice-creams and snacks without mum and dad running behind them with there wallet... don't go here...

Than the complex; it's dated, wich is no problem unless you want a designed room, and modern colors . Everything is in the apartment, microwave etc. Sometimes there is a knives that doesn't match the other knives, but seriously??? Is that a holiday 'no-go' Than the beds, well they do have 2 single and they sleep okay, but it's not the quality i have at home (must be told, they are not the best quality). Than the balcony, as I always book: oceanview rooms (you pay more for them) I have a nice view... I do belive the apartments on the back have indeed a balcony facing apartments from residents..
The pool area's both lovely, rooftop pool has incredible views. In my opinion the hotel is perfect.

For me a holiday is: having an apartment with a kitchen, so if I want to cook or just make an omlet I can. A pool with enough sunbeds/ space. A bar I can have a coffee or a beer or something. I do go out a lot, but I want facilities that i can stay in a day. The reason I give 4/5 is that the hotel could do a bit better, new beds (for example singels that you can click together as a double) changing sheets, in my opinion they could change them at least 1 extra time.
I'll go the in may again (that be the 3rd time in 12 months time) so you can say I like it a lot.

Room Tip: Book ocean view and high as posible (it's worth spending that extra)

Dear Ms. Easy664,

Thank you for your nice words and thank your for repeting for the 3rd time with us.
Regarding the all inclusive service there was a travel agency not giving the correct information on this service as we only offer all inclusive light with less choice as a "normal" all inclusive can do. As far as we know this problem is solved.
Thank you for your recomendations on the beds, we take note of it for our next renovation plans.
Hope to see you back soon for the 4th time!
Kind regards,
