Excellant. Hotel, food and staff are brilliant hoping to come back next year with the rest of my family. Rooms are clean food really good even for fussy eaters and the staff are brilliant and helpful would recommend to anyone. Great for couples or family's children would love it. Safe and everything a family would want on holiday.

This was our 4th Barcelo Hotel (Barcelo Marbella, Malaga, Isla Cristina and now Cala Vinas).
Cala Vinas was by far the best for food, in our opinion, compared to the other hotels (and their food was excellent).
The kitchen and bar staff (one in particular but can't remember her name, sorry - thank you señora for making our holiday more enjoyable [no recuerdo su nombre, lo siento - ¡gracias señora para hacer que nuestras vacaciones más agradable] - and that really goes for all the staff) could not be faulted - went out their way to be helpful.
The suited restaurant manager/head waiter, Sr Jose Garcia, has a wicked sense of humour and was the same with all the holidaymakers.
And thanks to you too, Maria, for being such a good table 'host'.
Okay, so the hotel is a bit out in the sticks and the rooms were not the same standard as the other Barcelo's, but you only sleep in them, so no complaint there!
6 euros by taxi into Magaluf is no hardship but would not go back (to Magaluf) - not our taste but the young ones would probably enjoy it.
NB: Nearly forgot the reception staff (Jesus Gil and his lovely staff - absolutely brilliant - couldn't be more helpful - what a terrific 1st impression.
Thanks again CALA VINAS for a terrific week!

Room Tip: Block 3 - high numbers are quieter

A friend and I stayed here for 4 nights flying out from Gatwick for the bargain price of just over £200 all inclusive with transfers included.
The hotel is simply one of the best value all inclusive hotels we have ever been to, and we have been to a lot.
The public areas are very well furnished, the pool and Jacuzzi areas are clean and tidy and there is a little beach/cove at the end of the pool area.
The hotel has free wifi, lots of space to chill out, a bar area, two pools, spa, gym etc. There is a snack bar too with outside seating overlooking the bay. The views are fab!
Rooms are a little basic compared to the rest of the hotel but bathrooms are very nice. It is just the décor really, the quality is fine.
Food is very nice and a huge selection - just get there early so everything is hot and fresh.
The all inclusive drinks include branded alcohol which is a first - never had that before - and the measures are very good :-) Huge selection as well which is not common. Finishes a little earlier than normal at 10.30 but no issue.
Evening entertainment is a bit poor but we don't tend to go away to sit in the hotel for this. You can walk into Magaluf within 20 mins if you are fairly fit which we did a few times and it's quite a nice walk. Get a taxi back which the most we paid was just under 7 euro to the strip.
The hotel is a bit out of the way with a few other hotels and a shop around. But get out and walk or rent a car etc. Get into Magaluf and get the 106 to Palma which runs every 15 mins for 3.15 euro. Takes about 45 mins but worth it. Can stop off at Palma Nova on the way too. Great beaches etc around.
We would not hesitate to go back here.
Whoever says this is a poor hotel cannot have travelled very much! The staff are welcoming and polite, it is clean and tidy. Great stay!

Room Tip: We stayed in Block 1 which you cannot get a direct sea view from but can see it over reception block...

I used my Tesco Clubcard vouchers so for £300 we had 4 days half board I've been on many "package holidays" when in my 20s and this was actually quite a nice hotel based on previous experience but it was partner's first (and last) time to a big family hotel and he couldn't handle it!

The bedrooms are spotless, huge bed which is comfortable, big TV (only 2 english channels) and lovely views over the bay.

Plenty of choice at the buffet but very average quality. Due to it offering an "all you can eat" buffet saw the gluttons (usually in their vests and shorts - even at 8pm) piling food high on their plates and returning time and time again. We wondered if people would eat chicken, lamb, fish & pasta on the same plate at home?

Wi-fi is free or there's plenty of access to hotel computers at 1 euro for 10 mins use.

The "entertainment" on offer in the evening is dire. The bar area has no atmosphere whatsoever. Wandered over to check out the entertainment in of the other hotels on the other side of the bay, this was even worse. Strip lights and bingo! In bed by 10.30 each night!

We hired a car from day one so just used the hotel as a base and went off each day to sight see or find a nice beach. The bay outside the hotel is actually very nice though.

There's a few nice walks a few streets away from the hotel (wouldn't bother walking to hideous Magalluf) with lovely big houses and gardens. We also found another little bay tucked away from view down a set of about 100 steps with a nice bar and loungers etc.. Didn't go in the evening but think it would be lovely.

Room Tip: Make sure you get Block 1 if you want a quiet room away from the music. Ask for a bay view.

Location :
It is not near anything within walking distance , You have to use public transport or car to get to the nearest town / shop / restaurant ...
Food: Best in the " canteen " was the salt. Incredible noise, poor quality of the food, families who change babies on a chair in the restaurant !
Room : In itself ok, but worn. Our room was right above the Restaurant, and in the opening hours, there was a lot of noise from chairs being dragged across the floor , and excruciating music from the restaurant.
There were adult pool area at the hotel , but of course one is tempted to say , there were children in the pool too. Finding our way around the hotel was also difficult. As I said, we lived right on top of the restaurant, but to get there we had to go to the elevator, 2 floors up, walk through the bar and then take the elevator three floors down . There was no possibility of stairs. And if you suffer from a bad back , the beds are impossible .. Very VERY hard, and not allow the mattress, we were given a blanket. Would use the gym , this is however extremely sparingly " furnished " and it is broken . We came to the conclusion that we probably had chosen the worst hotel in the entire Mallorca..

Can NOT recommend this hotel ..

Before going to the hotel I read the bad reviews so wasn't expecting much... Not sure where most of the bad reviews come from!
I went with 6 of my girlfriends for a 3 night break and we've all made a mental note to come back with partners and children.
The hotel itself is beautiful... Makes a real statement when you come into reception. Laid out in 3 blocks, block 1 is next to the road and I imagine it to not have great views, block 2 where we stayed was very quiet and had amazing views of the cove- we stayed in rooms 2201,2202, 2203. Block 3 will be the busiest block as above the main bar and entertainment area.
The rooms themselves are very basic compared to the rest of the hotel and much more could be done with the space, however the beds were comfy and the shower had running got water do not really sure what else we needed... You don't go on holiday to stay in your room after all!!
There are 2 pools... The infinity is much quieter and is at the top of the complex with a poolside bar and next to the gift shop. The other is next to the cove, a 30 second walk to the beach, and is much busier of the 2. This is the one we stayed in due to the entertainment and location. Pool is not heated so in May felt a little chilly- it's also salt water which took me a bit by surprise.
The entertainment itself was fairly basic, especially in the day but I think this might have been due to it being start if season and the hotel bring nowhere near close to full.
The staff are great- really happy to help you! The staff in the snack bar are a bit grumpy but when you attempt to speak a little Spanish and are pleasant with them they were more friendly. The drinks on offer were great for all inclusive... There's menus which show which of the drinks and spirits are all inclusive and the choice is huge. The AI vodka was Smirnoff, and other branded spirits were also used. The local spirits and drinks were nice too. Cocktails were not included in AI but everyday there was a cocktail of thd day included in AI... One day was sangria which made my holiday! The drinks you have to pay for are reasonable in price.. One oc our group was drinking mojitos and these were only 2 euro each!
The food was amazing... Spoilt for choice in the buffet restaurant everyday and ended up almost having to roll out as we'd eaten so much by trying bits of so many lovely dishes! There's the standard chips and pizza, but there was also pasta, soup, salad bar, fresh vegetables, paella, fish, delicious meat stews and choices of potatoes daily! When the restaurant isn't open there's snacks in the shack bar which went above our execrations - burgers, sausages, bacon, chips, onion rings, fish fingers and chicken nuggets along with bread, salad and one day even a plate if left over pastries from breakfast... A great selection if you skipped lunch but felt peckish later or if you arrive after the restaurant closes, which we did. Only thing letting the food down was the sweet selection, but it's the same with many hotels on the continent- sponge with bland cream and every cake tastes the same.
Taxis into magaluf itself were no more than 7 euro and 5 minute drive away... Hotel were great at arranging a taxi for us quickly!
The beach is lovely and secluded... I imagine great for snorkelling if there weren't jelly fish... Be careful! We're pool girls anyway do didn't really bother us about the jellyfish on the beach!
So all in all a great place to come... Would have been nice for a less basic room, room to have been a little cleaner, better daytime entertainment and for the top bar to be open, which it wasn't as not full season yet... These are only little things which would have given 5/5 but the overall hotel is great!!

Great value all inclusive deal, very friendly staff, excellent location by a small sandy beach, pleasant half hour walk to centre of Magaluf so well away from rowdy drunks, plenty of choice at mealtimes
