Have just spent a week at the Siesta Mar11 booked through owners direct with Jayne Henderson who is the owner, The 3 bedroom apartment number 101 we were given was very shabby and everything is old and needs replacing!!! all the beds creak every time you move 2 of the ceiling fans did not work properly in the bedrooms and as it is so hot you really need them!!! In the bathroom the shower head kept spinning around so flooded the floor every time it was used which was a lot every day as there were 6 of us, the bath had a massive chip in it where the enamel has come off so it looks horrible it also filled up every time we showered and took ages to empty, the bidet was leaking even though we never used it, the basin needed a good clean could see black mould in the overflow. The lounge had a table and 5 chairs (suppose to be for 7) a small sofa seated 3 and a tiny kids chair so we could not all sit down together and a very noisy floor fan!!! In the kitchen the fridge was ok the sink was ok the hob was ok but the oven was a nightmare everything burnt on the bottom it does not have a temp dial so had to be vigilant with the food, no work tops just a small old table which had the kettle and microwave on, the cupboards stank mouldy and we found a couple of terracotta dishes in one covered in MOULD we were reluctant to put food in them but you have to or the ants and cockroaches come in!!! The doors, handles, and light switches need a really good clean god knows what germs are lurking on them!!! Also every time we boiled the kettle and the fan was on the electrics tripped out which was a real pain!!!! Outside we had a small patio table and 4 chairs we asked Jayne for 2 more we eventually got them 5 days later!! !also had to ask for more towels tea towels and a bath mat which we did get the same day but no clean sheets, also Jayne's husband did get rid of the wasp nest above the kitchen window as soon as we asked them too, no cleaning done during our stay so we had to do it!!! The whole apartment needs completely redecorating and EVERYTHING replacing!!! The pool area is nice but there were a lot of Spanish teenagers and kids coming in every afternoon jumping of the rocks and being silly and really rowdy my 10 year old grandson got pushed over in the slide pool by the Spanish lot because they do not wait for others to get out of the way before coming down the slide they hurt his head and back and he went under the water it shook him up and he was in tears, if it had been a younger child it would have been a lot worse!!! The supermarket nearest to and opposite the apartments sold us mouldy cheese and the milk in the cartons although in date was off which we discovered when we opened 2 of them they stank to high heaven when I took them back they insisted it was fine to drink and refused a refund I stood my ground and got the bottled milk instead but had to pay the difference!!!! We used the Spar next door much nicer but found everything is expensive. To sum up Cala'n Porter is a lovely area but these apartments are not, we paid 980 euros for 7 nights and we could have got a Villa with its own pool a lot cheaper!!!! We do not recommend this complex!!!!

On arrival at the Siesta Mar after a short taxi ride from the airport we were given our keys straight away, it was only 10.30 am and the rooms are not usually available until the afternoon this was a nice surprise as we were swimming in the pool by the afternoon. When we entered our apartment I was very pleased, it had two large balconies one of which overlooked a large pool, we could not have asked for a more beautiful view, we had three bedrooms as requested and was very spacious and clean, after reading some of the reviews I was a little worried but had no need to be. I cannot understand some of the bad reviews, yes the apartments are a little bit dated and could do with some good air con but many apartments abroad usually are dated and what does it matter as long as they are clean, a fan can be bought from the shop just across the road if you struggle to sleep in hot weather. I think Siesta Mar deserve at least three stars you just cannot please some people. There is also an additional pool near the entrance of the the complex which has two small but fun slides which my children enjoyed, my husband had a go on them too. The apartments are in a really good location opposite a couple of shops and right next to a handful of restaurants and bars, the beach is only a short stroll away and is worth all the steps down to it as it is a lovely little beach, we hired some peddle boats one day and canoes on another which are very reasonably priced. You can also catch a bus to mahon for the day the stop is very near to the apartments and is only 1.65 euros per person, we went down to the harbour where you can go on a glass bottom boat for an hours tour, it is a lovely day out and there is also some market stalls to buy gifts by the harbour too. Now back to Siesta Mar, the staff are extremely hard working, you see them first thing in the morning and still working late at night, the breakfast is nice with a good choice of either a hot breakfast or cheese and ham, also croissants and cereal are available. During the evening we only stayed in to eat once at the hotel as wanted to venture out after being by the pool almost every day, we tried the pizza at Siesta Mar which was very good, our favourite restaurant was the Castle as it serves very good quality food for a reasonable price, Chinese Restaurant a close second but more pricey. Pitos is good for eating during the day as it is more like a cafeteria but serves massive portions of food, could go in the evening if you like but it is nice to get dressed up and go some where a bit more romantic, good prices though and does have a bar. Cala en porter is lovely for families and couples but would not suit young groups of people looking for a busy nightlife. Overall my family and myself had a lovely holiday and would return to the Siesta Mar in the future, do not listen to the bad reviews. We got a good deal through booking .com and booked flights with easy jet. Sarah from Blackpool.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony for a better view, ours was overlooking the pool in Siesta Mar 2 which was lovely...

First off, I'd like to say how nice & helpful Jayne was. She showed us to our apartment, was v quick to help out with a couple of small things (one being that our high chair was stolen off our balcony!) & let us stay later in our apartment on checkout day.

The apartment itself was so much better than I expected. Good shower with plenty of hot water, comfy beds, shutters so bedrooms were nice & dark, great pool area, really close to all restaurants & supermarkets. The whole of Calan Porter was really quiet which suited us perfectly as we had a 6 month old in tow.

The beach is gorgeous. Lots of nice restaurants I the town - our favourite was Samoa (although most of the waiters were a bit aloof) or Salamander.

I would recommend Calan Porter & these apartments are great for those on a budget.

Quick transfer from Menorca airport to the Siesta Mar apartments, around 18 euros. Upon arrival our room wasn't quite ready, (about 20 mins to wait), but that was okay as we had arrived earlier than expected. Went back only to find their maintenance guy had to refit a ceiling fan & light as this needed replacing. We went to the apartment anyway, and although he couldn't speak English he was very pleasant. Eventually settled in and decided to get some food as we were self catering and also have a look around. Pleasantly surprised by how quite the town was!
The apartment was extremely close to all facilities like supermarkets and a short walk to the bus stop and beach steps (nearly 200), or you can walk the road.
Unfortunately, the gas cooker only had one burner working, and we could not get the oven/grill to light. Sorted no problem! Then had ants - again sorted straight away. Apartment next to us was occupied by extremely noisy Spaniards (long weekend break) who did not care who they woke at 7am or 2am! Had to shout through the walls to please be quiet. Think they might have got the message. The apartments transfer a lot of noise from one apartment to the next, so might be better to ask for an upper floor! The neighbours were not Siesta Mar's fault but we were getting quite ticked off.
The pool area is very nice with a shallow one for the infants and a slightly deeper one for older children, but there is also the adult pool and you can also use Siesta Mar 1's pool and that of Sa Paissa next door. Nice slides for the children as well.
All in all (apart from noisy neighbours) we had a very relaxing time.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor apartment!

We also booked through JAYNE and first of all though she was very helpful. Until we actually got to the apartments. The first thing to happen was at reception where we had to pay the outstanding balance, we had paid the deposit directly to JAYNE who had sent an email to us to tell us the remaining balance. However the rude old reception lady had HER piece of paper which said that we owed XXX amount, and of course HER piece of paper was correct. So we ended up paying more for the apartment than we should have done and I have the proof!!
We had a one bedroom and it was tiny. I knew the accommodation was going to be be old and basic as I had read reviews, but every review said that the apartments were very spacious and clean.............. It was the crappest place I've ever stayed in my life, it was so small. The spacious apartments must have been the two and three bedroom apartments. We had to use the washing line to hang our clothes up as there was very very little space for clothes. We had to live out of our suitcases as there were no drawers or cupboards for things like hair dryers etc. we did have one boiler cupboard which had a bit of space in to hang up your clothes, but as the boiler had been leaking (stains in the cupboard) we were very reluctant toput our clean clothes in there.
This actually was my main problem I contacted JAYNE several times as we were worried about the boiler leaking. She kept saying she would send someone round to look at it, but she never did. Hotel reception staff were absolutely useless and rude, (apart from one helpful lady) so they couldn't help either. The only reason I didn't kick up a big fuss is because I found someone who lived at the siesta mar II apartments and they told me that the boiler was electric and not gas, which put my mind at rest.
The one bedroom apartment on the top floor was a complete suntrap, which was nice on the balcony but it meant that the apartment just would not cool down. The first couple of days during a heat wave it was unbearable. JAYNE said that she would send round an extra fan with the man that was coming to check the boiler.....well that never happened!

Also the cleaners were meant to come twice in 10 days.......they came the day before we left with fresh bedding and towels......not very helpful, the bedding was not changed once before that, although they had left clean towels once during the week.

So now for the good bits, the pool was lovely although I agree that there should have been some sort lifeguard for all the kids jumping from the rocks. The bar staff were very nice and friendly . The location was fantastic, in walking distance to all shops, restaurants and the beach, which was just stunning. When you walk around cala en porter you will see that there are not many nice hotel/apartments and the siesta mar was certainly very popular, so maybe it was the best of the Bunch.

I would not stay here again and I could not recommend it. If I was to go back I would rent a private apartment. It was definitely the worst place I have ever stayed and people who say you get what you pay for.....I have stayed in other apartments for around the same price and the difference is unbelievable.

Seagrams, the castle, el pulpo and can bernat are lovely restaurants. The village pub also do really good English food and great quizzes. Pop to aloha cocktail bar the lady owner is absolutely wonderful and cocktails are lovely (a bit strong) but definitely worth a visit.

Just to start off by saying we booked through JAYNE AT BALEARIC BREAKS. I would not recommend you book through her if you have a problem or a complaint she is rude, unhelpful and massively lacking in communication and interpersonal skills. We booked through her this year as we had a great experience last year but that must have been down to the fact that we had no complaints, as when you have a problem she is awful and we WILL NOT book with her again.

Anyway, we were given a two-bedroom apartment which was not what we had paid for (one-bedroom). This is probably down to the hotel as they allocate the apartments but JAYNE shouldn't have sold us a one-bedroom if there was not one free at the time of us booking. The two bed was not pleasant as the 'double' bed was two twins pushed together. There were hairs on the sheets, marks on the sheets and the bins hadn't been changed. The fridge was rusting and mouldy.

It really upsets me to write this as last year we went and were given the apartment we had paid for and had no problems so I do want to add the following...

HOWEVER, I cannot fault the staff at the hotel (apart from Dolurus who is a cantankerous old cow she works at the front of desk and is the most unwelcoming and rude woman ever, luckily my boyfriend and I found this amusing as she is quite literally a spanish version of someone off fawlty towers) the manager is great. As soon as he found out we were unhappy he came to see us and he moved us to a one-bedroom as soon as one was available (two days later). He had someone come and clean our apartment straight away and two cleaners arrived and fell over themselves apologising. The one-bedroom we moved to was just like last year. Huge spacious balcony, spotlessly clean, lovely bathroom and shower, kettle/fridge/crokery/tea pots and tea cups ect. We had an excellent time after being moved. The pool area is fab and there are always sun loungers and I just generally love Cala'n porter. The beach is stunning, the restaurants are great and the people are welcoming.

I wish I could give it four stars but due to JAYNE being our booking agent I can't as she ruined the start of our holiday by being unhelpful and not caring that we weren't satisfied with what she had given us.

I do recommend you stay here, it is not a 5* hotel so if thats what you want do not book it. However the apartments, in general ( I believe we were unlucky as we had a fab experience last year) are clean and have everything you need. The pools are so lovely and there are always sun loungers and I spent lots of time reading my kindle and dipping into the pool with my boyfriend. The beach is stunning and is literally a 5 minute walk and there are great restaurants too! I would go back, I just would never book with Jayne at Balearic Breaks again.

Room Tip: Pick the top floor! It has the most private balconies and best views.

We have just returned from a short break at Siesta Mar II. We booked an apartment for four people and got one with three bedrooms so there was plenty of space. There was a big lounge area, small bathroom (no window), kitchen with kettle, toaster, fridge, cooker etc. and good-sized terrace with table for eating outside. The apartment was certainly better than we expected for the price and generally clean but it's a good idea to dust the drawers and cupboards before you use them as sand and dust get everywhere and I think they get missed out.The beds were already made (that isn't the case everywhere when you rent an apartment) and there were two towels each. Nothing to complain about there for the price except for the lack of a window in the bathroom.
We were close to the pools and in Siesta Mar II (exactly as I had requested) - there were restaurants on site and all around the complex. We ate out at Big Al's and Sa Paissa and paid 14.95 Euros in both places for a full meal with something to suit everyone. The resort itself is quiet apart from music in the various restaurants and the complex is situated on one of the two main streets running through the small town/village.
The main beauty of the place is the beach and it takes no more than ten minutes on foot to get there from your apartment door by taking the first road on the right and then the 180 steps down to the beach itself. At 17 Euros a day, two sunbeds and one beach umbrella aren't cheap - you can bring or buy your own of course but make sure you anchor it down firmly as the wind can be quite strong (very welcome when it's hot) and a couple of times we saw people chasing theirs up and down the beach! There are three restauants/bars down at the beach and we always had lunch sitting outside at the first one called Bar Rustic, where we found the food, service and prices to be very good.
If you want a relaxing holiday (and not a wild time) then this is the place. If you hire a car, or take a tour, you can easily get to visit other parts of the island and one such tour can be booked at the well-stocked Spar supermarket directly opposite Siesta Mar II.
We had a good time and hope to return next year.
