“When can I come back?”
Reviewed 7 June 2011

Lovely town with all the facilities you need. Plenty of bars, restaurants, shops of all description.
Bit of a hill for the beach, but car hire well worth it.
Clean and friendly.
Salamanda, Sa Paissa and Aloaha well worth a visit. as is the sports bar at the bottom of town, English run and all main games shown on tele.

“What afantastic place.”
Reviewed 12 July 2009

Just returned from Menorca from a week in a villa. The area is fantastic, so beautiful and calm with a terrific cove beach. We landed after our 2 hour flight from Gatwick and flagged a taxi to take us to the town of Cala'n Porter, we were expecting to pay in the region on 50Euro, as most of the websites we looked at advised pre-booking a transfer at about 120Euro return. It took about 10minutes to grab a cab and he charged us 19euro- excellent. The trip took about 10 minutes from the airport to our villa, no hassles.
The beach is great, although there are A LOT of steps down to it, but walk through town past the Irish bar to take the path/road down to it, only takes about 10-15 minutes to walk down, maybe 20 to walk back up. My kids( 6 &8) managed it no probs. The beach is beautiful, with the usual cafe's and shops, the lifeguards are helpfull and on the ball, but the sea is so calm and shallow its very safe ( wel as it can be). There are pedellos with slides to hire from 13 - 17 euro depending on size for an hour. Beach parasols are 5 euro a day but you can buy your own for about the same in the town or beachfront.
Eating out is about the sae as the UK, but shopping is a bit pricey but i suppose thats the same everywhere right now. The Bombay star indian resturant is ok, but no fantastic. Le Salamandra is good with a good specials menu 3 course menu, 1/2 bottle of wine each, coffee AND liquor ( not local stuff either) for just 16 euro a head. Also the Buffalo Bills Ranch is a good buffett with loads to choose from and great friendly staff.
Nights out visit the COVADENXOROI - a nightclub set in the caves in the cliff face, awesome and the foam party on a thursday night is a great laugh. The view from the club and the setting itself is worth the visit.
I would and will revisit Menorca and Cala'n Porter excellent place, great area, great weather, great people.

“Great entertainment”
Reviewed 5 July 2008

Week of 26/06/08
Stayed in the Playa Cala 'N Porter apartments, good location in the centre of village, need updating a little and the shelves in the bathroom were wonky.
Nice pool, showers and a bar.
Definately go to the Sa Paissa restaurant and bar, there was live entertainment every night, tribute bands like The Temptations and the Supremes, we got a 3 course meal for 12.95 Euros, we could not eat it all but they do takeaway which is great.
Beach is vertically down 168 steps but there is a train that takes you there, 2.50 Euro's each way per person so it is expensive and the sun loungers were 6 Euro's each so make sure that you stay all day. Few bars and places to eat there too.
I would recommend hiring a car if you intend to do some sightseeing as you have to travel into Mahon everytime to get a bus anywhere else.
There is a guided coach trip on Sundays & Wednesdays, Raphael the Guide is an absolute hoot with a passion for showing you all the best beaches. 24 Euros and well worth it
Caves den Xoroi - a night club in caves in the side of a cliff, doesn't get busy till about 12 but well worth a visit. It is also open during the day for coffee as a tourist attraction.
Mahon is beautiful, harbour with great boats, restaurants and bars.
