“Very convenient, clean hotel, on the beach.”
Reviewed 24 September 2012

We have stayed here many times.
It's not luxurious, but it is very clean, the staff are helpful and have good command of English.
It's not expensive, and the location is excellent, right on the beach and close to shops and restaurants.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view. Having said that we are always given one.

Centrally located, near to bars restaurants and shops.Liked the location, liked the food.Very Spanish.Staff polite and helpfull. If you go for the half board option you can choose to have either breakfast and dinner or breakfast and lunch.
They dont stop serving dinner till around 11.00pm so a good location if you are looking to tour the area..Quite a lot of famillys and groups of retired people.Very few English people while we were there.
Breakfast a choice of continental, cooked, fresh fruit etc.
Dinner choices are varied and i found the portion size good.
You can sit in the restaurant and look out to sea which is just across the promenade and beach.
I woul recommend for couples seeking a quiet break.
I would ask for a sea view room if i came again.Only thing that we were not happy about was the air conditioning took a long time to get going.
The Hotels decor was a little dated ,quite dark and could do with a face lift.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view,No pool or fitness centre, but you are on the beach.Wi Fi available.

Location Almost on the beach
Bedrooms Spacious and clean, Good free WiFi, Free Safe, Mini Bar with enough spce for what you want to put in. Front rooms have a fantastic view.
Entertainment A Pack of Cards
Staff All speak passable English and very helpful
Food Breakfast Buffet style, hot food was not hot, but enough for any appetite. Half board can be taken at Lunch or Dinner, choose two courses of four. Not the best food and ok if you have a small appetite, waiter service.

This area is mainly residential and mainly caters for Spanish tourists, so don't expect a Brit Abroad Service, If you want entertaining go somewhere else . Malaga is well worth a visit and at 1.50 Euro bus fare easy and cheap to get to. If you like beach walks your legs are your limit. The beach itself is clean and sandy and two other people is as may as you will find in April/May.
Something different, something Spanish but be prepared to snack if you have a big appetite.

Room Tip: Pay extra for sea view

Centrally located near to bars, restaurants, shops and cafes, and practically on the beach itself. Excellent spacious rooms, some are smaller than others but we could have danced around ours, excellent service and a good variety of food. The area is flat so it would also suit the less mobile. Knowing a little spanish would help as english is not widely spoken. 4 star hotel with 5 star service. Excellent value for money and would definitely return.

We were recommended this hotel by friends in the Sierra Nevada and stayed there in October 2008. We came back this year for 3 more nights as a part of our honeymoon. If you bear in mind the price (60-70 Euros / night) and the location (right on the beach) and the free car parking then this is a good place to spend a few nights. It's also a convenient base for the odd day-trip.

For this modest sum (relatively speaking) you get a somewhat tired but still well-equipped hotel with helpful, friendly staff and a reasonable restaurant. If the weather's good you can spend all day on the beach and retreat to your balcony in the evening - if not, Malaga (castles & the Picasso gallery) is 20 minutes south, the caves (Las Cuevas del Tesoro ) are a 20 minute walk / 5 min drive away

Stayed 10 days there but would never book it if I'd seen it earlier.
Location was good - right in front of the beach. Staff was friendly although only the reception ladies spoke English. Rooms are decently sized but need a new decor or at least refurbishment. Moulded shower, blocked shower head, aircon switchable by main fuse - either ON and you get 15C and noise or OFF and you get 26-28C... 5 floors in total - with only one lift - if it's crowded it must be horrible - we were quite lucky to avoid the "rush hour". Cafeteria where the breakfast was served was absolutely horrible. During our 10 days stay they served same stuff every day - ham, chorizo, cheese, bacon, egg, sausage and some youghurts. Fruits were used for decoration - as they haven't moved from their place for 10 days. Same with the ham and other stuff - you could see the ham getting greasy after a couple of days just to see new ham added on top of it... no vegetables at all. The only good thing was the bread - it was fresh every day. Worse thing was the flies - absolutely hundrends of them while you were supposed to be eating - perhaps because the staff was too lazy to close doors to the beach, or perhaps because the aircon in the cafeteria did not work - or perhaps because it was normal to eat with one hand and use another one to wave at the flies... Funny thing was that the papeteria found in the room clearly stated 3 stars while everywhere else you could see 4 stars... That, plus the breakfast (we've only booked B&B), plus the broken glass we've found in our bathroom (and not being removed after 10 days of stay), crap aircon, lack of pool or any other facilities, WiFi working only in 3-5 rooms nearest to the lift (where the router was) is enough for me to avoid this place at all cost. We've been to other 3 stars hotels before and this one was at least average in comparison - why advertising and charging it for 4 stars? Big mistake in my opinion. We have found another hotel down the road (300m or so - same location beachwise) called "Elimar" - http://www.hotelelimar.com/ which just recently had their restaurant refurbished (we've been there from 6.07.09 to 16.07.09) and the food was absolutely fantastic - buffet with selection of salads, vegetables, desserts, meats, fruits, icecreams and drinks - got you happily fulled for just 12 euros per person. They've served different stuff every day and the staff was very helpful and understanding. They are building a new wing of the hotel so I reckon next year - the hotel could easily get 4 stars rather than '70 - '80 Rinconsol.
Location was absolutely local and not too "touristic" - the town itself does not offer much apart from sandy beach, sun (and some rocks when you actually get into the water for the first 1-2 meters). You get a great selection of local bars and restaurants - prices vary from 1.5 euros for a tapas porcion through 4-6 euros for a tapas meal to 14 euros for a steak and 15-20 euros for a brilliant fish. I absolutely recommend sardines from the grill, fish and various tapas dishes. Best place we've found was called "El Nora" - fantastic food, quick service and very friendly.
If you are planning on renting a car - do so in advance from Malaga or even the airport. Most of the local car rental companies DO NOT deliver the car to Rincon Sol (or any other hotel in the area) and the only two that are available in the reception do not have enough cars available so you don't have too much choice when it comes to cars / dates or prices... We've paid 186 euros for VW Polo 1.4 with aircon for 4 days - you could get the same in Malaga for less... There is a parking in front of the hotel but it's usually full - luckily the staff is happy to move your car if needed - in fact you have to leave them the keys...

Generally I would recommend Rincon de la Victoria to people who are after "real Spain" (as others said in their reviews) - but if you are after entertainment - clubs / discos / loads of restaurants and English speaking locals - this is definitely not the place for you. I would also advise on either getting the most expensive room in Rinconsol or avoid it at all cost - breakfast will still be crap.

Another thing is the location of the town - you are 45 minutes journey by a bus away from Malaga - tickets are cheap (below 2 euros) but you have to get on the right bus - 160/163 will not take to the Maria Zambrano Estaccion - which is the main communication link in Malaga allowing you to travel to Benalmadena, Torremolinos or Feurengirola - the most touristic places in my opinion. If you plan on travelling East - there aren't many places you can go to and the buses won't take you too far... there are no trains in Rincon de la Victoria either...

Overally - a bit boring town unless you stay for 7 days (or less) and are looking for real Spain and real Spanish food.
