Just returned from a lovely relaxing 3-night break ... weather was warm and dry on the whole ans feeling refreshed.

Lochside apartment was comfortable and meet our needs ... loads of space for 2 adults and 3 labradors.

Any problems/requests were dealt with quickly and the staff couldn't have been friendlier.

Room Tip: Lochside apartments have a wonderful view and terrace is a great bonus on a nice day.

We have just got back from a three night stay with two friends. First impressions on arriving, was that the hotel was in a magnificent position right beside the loch. a friendly young man at reception told us about the brown water and explained that bottled drinking water would be in our room. The water being brown was not he hotels fault, BUT the cleaning of the hotel is down to them. I'm afraid we found the hotel dirty and in need of decorating. I had to ask for our carpet to be vacuumed and the window seals to be cleaned of dead flies! Wasn't happy. Our friends bathroom should have come with a government health warning. It's a shame because it could be a great hotel. The staff we found to be friendly and helpful. It just needs money spent on it to bring it up to standard and cleaning staff trained in how to CLEAN!

Room Tip: A room with loch view and a shower where you can stand in the bath even if you are very tall.

We enjoyed our stay here in May. Any requests were dealt with quickly and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. The hotel is in a wonderful location--so lovely to have breakfast overlooking Loch Awe and the patio great for a drink on warmer days.

Room Tip: No knowledge of other rooms but ours was good.

Stayed in loch side apartments & got back 3 days ago. Apartments are lovely & clean & very comfortable with stunning views of the loch. Had breakfast in the hotel which is pet friendly. Food was lovely with a good variety. Staff were helpful & friendly & food was delivered quickly even with the hotel being bust over the bank holiday weekend. On one occasion the cooked food was delivered before the toast. As soon as the staff realised they brought us an extra pot of tea as way of apology.
In the apartment a lot seems to be said about the water colour. If your having a shower you don't notice & on both occasions I have been now I have never noticed a smell as has been reported by certain people. We had a slight problem one day when the downstairs sockets didn't work. I reported this to the owner who was at reception. By the time I had walked back to the apartment he was stood waiting for me so he could fix it. This took him all of about 2 minutes as he realised a kettle had tripped the fuse which he quickly replaced & then brought us a new kettle.
The nearest shop we saw is not 15 miles away there is a good shop opposite the Loch Awe hotel 10 miles away or it is only 13 miles to Inverrary where there are plenty of shops.
The views of the loch are worth them money alone especially at sunrise & sunset.
If you are expecting 5 star luxury you won't get it. What you get instead is a lovely Scottish hotel on a fabulous location & friendly eager staff.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a loch side apartment. The hotel is pet friendly. If you are worried about the water t...

we stayed in th lochside apartments which are really maisonettes with balconeys overlooking the loch, fab views over the loch, the apartment is beautiful with brilliant comfortable bed and good leather sofa's. Only complaint was badly equipped kitchen but perhaps they don't expect you to actually ccok - needs good knives, lids to pans & a good saute pan. Staff were brilliant, so helpful and friendly, felt so bad other guests felt they were an easy target so were really rude to them

Room Tip: pay extra for apartment, its worth it

Just got back from a weekend in the Culzean lodge. 4 of us went after getting a deal at a game show and we werent disappointed. Yes it's not perfect and there are improvements which could made but only slight changes. The staff were friendly and chatty with all guests from what we saw. The hotel and lodges were clean and spacious. The food we had (an evening meal and here breakfasts) couldn't be complained about. Big portions, well presented and very tasty. Would recommend his hotel to anyone and we have already begun planning our next visit!!

Stayed in the hotel in April. Lovely, quiet location with superb views. After initial hiccup, Robert stepped in and was so helpful. We had a lovely room on second floor and enjoyed all meals. We were staying for three nights (Sat - Tues) and my car broke down on way back from Oban on the Sunday. Limped back to hotel and arranged for it to be towed to garage. It did mean we had a Monday in hotel but went for a couple of walks and Robert made sure we had lunch, so quite relaxing really. Robert then arranged for us to be taken to Oban on Tuesday morning by a member of staff. We found the staff really helpful and Robert is a star! He has a super dog too. We'll certainly return!

Room Tip: Worth paying a bit more for view of Loch Awe
