Having lunched at The Congregational soon after it opened, we were delighted to discover it is now open on three days each week for evening meals. It has a small but creative menu including vegetarian options.

The cafe has a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. On cooler days there is even a woodburning stove

Seating is cleverly arranged amiong the art work and we decided to buy a painting on display.

Booking in advance for the evenings is probably advisable.

We came upon The Congregational by chance, and never expected the pleasant surprise we were in for. This is a really pleasant place which has only been open for just over a month. We hadn't expected to eat there, the menu was fairly small, serving home made soups, sandwiches, and cakes. However, the food quality was extremely high, and the cafe also served a good range of specialist, loose leaf teas, and high quality coffees. On the day, I had pea, spinach and mint soup, and my wife and son had a home cooked ham sandwich with home made apricot chutney, served with salad and couscous. Very enjoyable !! So is the art gallery.

Located towards the west end of High Street, on the north side of the road.
