“And music too!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 November 2013

This art gallery and café is in Rothbury's former Congregational Church (hence the name). The home baked cakes offer an interesting and delicious choice, with soups available for those wanting something a bit more substantial. The normal choice of coffees are available. The speciality, however, is the large choice of teas, with each carefully described (and illustrated!) in the menu. These can be enjoyed on comfortable settees next to a wood-burning stove. On Sunday afternoons there is usually live music - often the gentle sounds of the Northumbrian pipes.

“Cafe Art”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 October 2013 via mobile

Visited to see the art, especially Allan Scott's sculptures, but also an impressive tea room. Excellent selection of teas, cakes and spiced homemade soups. Good friendly service. Not 5* because cake too moist and powdered spices in soup but very enjoyable and recommended.
The cafe/gallery is after the main shops going west (Thropton direction)

I'd just like to clarify for Tripadvisor users that we don't use any bought in powdered spices in our soups.

All our soups either contain whole spices, which may or may not be removed prior to serving - depending on the individual soup.

Or we like to indulge in one of the simple pleasures of cooking, which is toasting whole spices then grinding them up in a pestle and mortar to release all those yummy, yummy aromatic oils and flavours.

I assure you we would not deprive ourselves of this most satisfying of culinary delights!
You simply can't get the same results with powdered spices thus they are banned from our kitchen!

If any visitors find a cake they ordered to be too moist please do contact a member of staff and we'd be more than happy switch the item for something else.

“Beautiful setting - lovely food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 September 2013 via mobile

Good art/crafts by local artists mixed with a lovely cafe. Had soup (tomato charitzo & 3 beans) with fresh bread and my partner had a banana, date & nutmeg scone. Really flavoursome food and reasonably priced too. Will definitely be back when we are next in the area.

“A must visit on your trip to Rothbury”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2013

Went here for lunch and was delighted to find really tasty soups and gluten free bread. My partner had one of their delicious cakes and loved every mouthful. Great atmosphere with some amazing pieces of art. Well worth a visit.

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2013

Beautiful gallery, first class coffee and light meals. Cannot fault it! The service is good - any delay is simply because the coffee is made properly and food freshly prepared, and who minds waiting with a great gallery and books to peruse?
