Really pleasant art gallery featuring the works of a variety of professional artists. Much more interesting stuff than the usual touristy paintings of Holy Island!! Home made cakes, comfie sitting area and warm welcome. But note it's only open thursday to sunday.

Visited last year and tried again this year only to be greeted at the door at to be told that they were closing. I can't remember exactly what time it was but it was early. Unusual since the music festival was on and Rothbury was full of visitors!

As you can see from the link provided here to the 'Rothbury Traditional Music Festival' website, not only were we open, but we were hosting compeitions in the gallery all of the afternoon! Competitions open to all that were very, very well attended.

http://www.rothburymusicfestival.co.uk/competitions.html

We closed after the competitions around 3.30pm, at the earliest, rather than our usual 4.30pm so that we, the gallery owners, could enjoy our favourite day of the year in Rothbury! We very clearly advertised at the front of the gallery we may be closing early after the competitions for this very reason.

If you haven't visited our brilliant Traditional Music Festival I strongly urge any, and all, to attend. The talent on show is simply amazing, the setting is perfect and all of the day time events are totally free to attend.

Sadly it seems this local resident believes that our only priority should be to try and make money from the guests in our village on this special weekend, rather than soak up any of the atmosphere ourselves.

We at the gallery also handled all the ticket sales for the evening events, which was no small task, when asked by the organisers to help out. This was very time consuming and we did it for no monetary gain, but because we love the event.

Hopefully we will be hosting competitions again next year as all the muscians commented on our excellent acoustics. We'd be proud to have them back! Keep on eye on the Rothbury Traditional Musica Festival website for tickets and lineup details as they arise in the New Year.

The food fabulous; delicious soups, breads, cakes etc. Sitting by the fire on the sofas is so relaxing- if you are lucky there may even be a couple of musicians passing the time there. Add to this the lovely art- one of the best places to relax in Rothbury.

This is a friendly, well- run Gallery, in a the beautiful Northumbrian town of Rothbury. Your dog is welcome, too and if, like me, you are Coeliac, you will find delicious treats to eat, and excellent tea or coffe to drink, while you savour the work on display. It's also very family- friendly - with comfy sofas and a log-stove.
If you aren't lucky enough to be staying in the town , do plan a detour or stop there!
