This was a family celebration dinner. The evening was very pleasant, and the setting fine. Food is "pub classics", well executed, though un-exciting. Portion sizes are excessive and could probably be reduced by 1/3... (main courses were impossible to finish, as we had made the mistake of ordering starters). Puddings are well-executed home-cooking style (apple crumble, sticky toffee pudding etc, but in fact almost no-one in our group had room). Drinks need to be bought from the bar.
I'm giving this a mark of 4/5 because, although this is not fine dining or a culinary adventure, it does what it does very well.
