“Don't miss out on this little gem of a B&B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 June 2014 via mobile

I travel around the country every weekend for work I have never been so pleased with my accommodation for a long time .
I has my husband and 6 year old son with me so booked the advertised "interconnecting rooms"which turned out to be a complete suite 2 huge rooms a main bathroom and an ensuite here comes the list of what awaits you... a friendly welcome and a sparkly drink on arrival sat in a beautiful flower filled lounge then shown up to our room.Fresh fruit, bottled water, great tea and coffee tray with a constant supply of fresh milk and biscuits ,fresh flowers and a plate of petit fours. Fabulous soft white dressing gowns even one for our little sin along with a jigsaw to take home.White company bedding soft throws mix of antique and contemporary furniture brings this old house to life. The music system in each room already on with relaxing music tv's DVD players with a collection to choose from.Breakfast starts with a fresh smoothie shot a great full menu of everything you would want I had porridge with limencello cream and a small breakfast there was so much more to choose from .I am not saying I haven't had a lot of these touches before but I'm usually in a 5 star hotel not a country B&B this place is faultless

Very high quality accommodation, with all comforts and needs attended to. Bath robes and toiletries, reading lamp and amazing music devices to suit all tastes. But the best tastes were the extraordinary breakfasts - porridge with pink champagne cream and strawberries, or a coconut milk-soaked muesli with mango in addition to many choices of cooked breakfasts. Audrey and Graham have made this a most welcoming hotel, with so much attention to personal touch and detail. The weather was mixed (some heavy rain but days of sunshine too) - but there was always a warm hallway to return to and drop the umbrella. A faulty light-bulb was replaced immediately and the wecome chocolate fudge, and home-made bed-time biscuits left us with the very best of memories. Definitely a 5 Star rating for comfort and luxury.

Room Tip: We had a standard room, with separate private bathroom, but Graham showed us the other en-suite room...

My Husband and I stayed at Orchard House for a 2 night stay and were delighted with our room, breakfast, and the warm welcome we received by Manager Audrey and her Staff who were polite and attentive throughout our stay advising us on local places to eat and visit. Lovely little extra touches to make our stay more enjoyable such as drinks on arrival hot towels chocolate strawberries and a fruit bowl in our room and on our second day on returning in the evening some chocolate brownies and caramel shortcakes placed in our room for us to enjoy which were much appreciated. Good tea and coffee facilities in our room with fresh milk available and home made cookies which could be collected from the breakfast room. Breakfast a very enjoyable and relaxing start to the day with lovely music playing which again brought a nice atmosphere to the room. We would definately return to stay at Orchard House again. Thank you to all for making our stay so enjoyable

... a little more expensive than some, for sure, but what price style and comfort! And overall great value. We booked late, but were made most welcome and we were delighted by the whole experience. This is a family home, so comfortable and homely, but with excellent facilities which felt like a very smart hotel. The breakfast was wholesome, well prepared and tastefully delivered. Overall a brilliant place to stay, at the heart of Rothbury ...

... but who is Audrey, I was sure your name was Andrea! Apologies!

We stayed here for two nights. Audrey was very helpful and welcoming. Warm flannels were very nice (we didn't get the Bucks Fizz?) upon arrival. It really is a lovely house, very comfortable and relaxing, a calming atmosphere with a really nice lounge for residents. We arrived the day before the Street Fair, which was excellent. Instead of our planned visit to Cragside, which is very close by, we spent the day at the Street Fair and walking by the river. Breakfast was lovely. We will certainly revisit Orchard House.
We used the Newcastle Hotel for our evening meals. The service, staff and food were very good, we couldn't have been made more welcome. Due to the Street Fair they were very busy but we were still well looked after. Can certainly recommend this hotel for food and drink.

Room Tip: Amethyst Room 4. It was always warm. Very nicely equipped. Would be difficult to find fault with it...

We really don't want to tell everyone how good this place is - as we'd never get booked in again ! This lovely B&B excels on all counts. Welcoming staff, lovely large rooms, beautiful furnishings combined with a great location in the heart of the lovely town of Rothbury, But what really makes the difference is the attention to detail - the little things that set it apart - like hot towels on arrival, a welcoming drink of Bucks Fizz, 'goodnight' chocolates, fresh fruit in the bedrooms, fresh refrigerated milk always available and a comprehensive breakfast menu which covers all tastes. The presentation and cleanliness of everything from the food to the rooms is exemplary - even the butter in the butter dish is soft enough to spread !! Little things mean a lot ! Congratulations to Audrey and her team on a job VERY well done.
But remember - DON'T TELL ANYONE ELSE ABOUT THIS PLACE.

So delighted when we arrived at this beautiful Georgian (?) house, greeted warmly by Audrey and offered hot flannels to freshen up, and Bucks Fizz. What a lovely start! Rooms were very well equipped, we wanted for nothing - as a previous reviewer said, a lot of thought and attention has gone into the rooms. The bed was comfy, lovely linen; smart, modern bathroom, bath robes; 'welcome' chocolates and bottled water. Lovely and peaceful and delightful view over back garden. Breakfast was lovely, local produce (delicious bacon).
