“Very pleasant stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 September 2008

We spent two days at the Coquetvale in August. We took a 'superior' room which was very large with a spacious bathroom. The hotel is in a quiet location (but convenient for the town) and our room was quiet, despite the fact that the Italian restaurant was very busy in the evenings. We ate there on both evenings and had very enjoyable meals - food good, House Wine fine, ambiance perfectly acceptable and price quite reasonable (compared to what we pay in Hampshire). Staff fine, parking OK and the wife didn't complain about anything - what more can I say - 'you get what its says on the box'.

We had a superb 3 nights at the Coquetvale in July 2008. A lovely location in a nice village. The only reason we haven't given it a top rating is because the bedroom was a bit tired, but having chatted to the owner as we were leaving apparently this is in hand and indeed one of the rooms was being decorated while we were there.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The restaurant is excellant, with a good range of food at a good range of prices. You can pick whether to splash out and select the more expensive dishes, or you can select cheaper options and eat quite reasonably. We felt either way the prices were competetive.

We wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to friends.

Lovely hotel in a good location in the wonderfully picturesque town of Rothbury. Arrived at the hotel early but despite this made to feel very welcome and although our room was still being prepared, we were taken up to see it whilst our bags were being taken there for us. Lovely room with good facilities. No air con but the windows opened so that was good enough for me! Some building work going on in a new housing development to the side of the hotel but no noise or distraction from it whatsoever.

Superb Italian restaurant on the 1st floor of the hotel with great decor and a very good menu selection. The service was excellent as was the food. However, it was very warm in the restaurant as it was warm outside and busy inside so could benefit at some stage in the future from air con. Other than that no problems and the meal was very reasonably priced.

Breakfast next morning was superb. If you like a cooked English it's all sourced from local produce which I always like.

As this was a short break for our wedding anniversary we always like to go somewhere that is relaxing and this for us definitely fitted the bill. We both thoroughly enjoyed both the hotel and Rothbury itself so can easily recommend this hotel if you are looking for somewhere to stay that is relaxing, in a good location and of course is reasonably priced.

We stayed one night at the Coquetvale Hotel, in one of the luxury rooms. Room was very spacious, very light, with very large sliding sash windows, and was also very quiet. Good night's sleep in the supersize comfortable bed. Very spacious bathroom with good fittings. Staff very friendly. Enjoyed very much the breakfast. A real pleasant stay.

Stayed here for three nights and found it to be very clean and comfortable. The building is quite old but the decoration is okay. The breakfast was good with a selection of cereals and fresh fruit and then a large cooked breakfast. We ate every evening in the hotel restaurant, Italia + and were well pleased every evening. Would recomend this hotel to anyone visiting this area.
