My girlfriend and I stayed for the weekend whilst visiting alnwick only a 25 min drive away. Great location really friendly staff and nice food . We would certainly return and recommend . The young lad who we think was duty manager even played tom cruise for us :)

Hi Colinmaso

Thanks for this! Its always good to here people have had a good stay, and that the staff have gone above and beyond to make that happen.

I am presuming by Tom Cruise you mean James!

Thanks again.

thought id add my comments after being asked to write a review by the hotel receptionist
not a bad little place staff and management trying there best to please everyone, saw one lady there 24hrs don't think she goes to bed.
restaurant food was fine service was steady , bar area lacks a little something very plain looking,
but I would return and recommend the Hotel to other travellers I was told its under new ownership
and lots going on .

Hi Jonathan

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. It all helps to improve our customer experience.

We are currently refurbishing the hotel and would have loved to complete the bar before the season began, however we have missed that boat. Therefore we are closing in January to complete the bar and restaurant area.

I will pass your comments on to the team as it always gives them a boost to know people are happy with there efforts.

We would love to see you again to see the improvements that have been made. If you sign up to our newsletter you will receive all the upcoming events news and also any special offers.

Take care

Lovely area. Perfect location for me. I just feel it needs a little attention to detail. The decor feels tired, wallpaper peeling, paintwork cracked. Room was large and airy with a comfy small double bed. The window banged when open which was irritating. Fresh clean towels were fluffy. Toilet flush button was missing, cracked tiles in bathroom and poor water pressure. Free wifi was great. Staff were pleasant and breakfast was perfectly acceptable. With a little attention to detail it would be first class, as it is now it was adequate.

This was my second stay at this hotel. The food in the restaurant at dinner and breakfast was very good. Staff very good and friendly. Our room had an old tube TV and should be replaced. The door was difficult to open/close due to the carpet. Overall the room was OK. I understand that the hotel is under new management and I would expect they would invest in improvements in the infrastructure. Still a reasonable hotel though.

Hi Denny

Thanks for taking the time to review your stay.

I am so glad you had a good stay. With regards to the carpets, we have just had them all replaced throughout the entire building. its commercial carpet so its a lot thicker than the old worn carpet, therefore it just needs a bit of warring in. With regards to the TV's they are only in 2 rooms and we are aiming to replace them sooner rather than later.

If you are looking at travelling to Rothbury again soon, feel free to sign up to our newsletter Facebook or twitter to see what's coming up or latest offers.

Best regards

Went to this hotel for afternoon tea (with fizz) on Saturday 26/04/14 through a Groupon deal for £19. The food was nice although it stated that it would be a selection of 'finger sandwiches' which turned out to be very tasy 'doorstop' sandwiches. The selection of cakes were nice along with a rather large quantity of very hot / strong coffee. However the cream tea was spoilt by the cheap, rather runny and funny tasting cream and margarine type spread for our fruit scones. I had to scrape it off the scone in order to eat them and as with other afteernoon teas I have had, the cream should have been 'clotted cream'. Other than that the food and 'FIZZ' were good.

Hi Powbug

Glad that you took the time to send this review.

So sorry to hear all the good things were ruined by the substandard fresh cream. I have passed your comments onto the kitchen team and they are going to look into this. We would certainly like to put this right, therefore we will honour the price you paid if you would like to come back, and have another afternoon tea.

If this is something you are interested in then please contact me direct on lee@coquetvale.co.uk

You MUST go to this hotel - we loved everything about it and will definitely return. Comfy bed, nice decor, great staff, quiet and relaxing.....need I say more?? The ONLY issue was my fault - I booked twice for the same night and missed out on staying a second night because by the time we'd realised, all the rooms had been taken :(
