“What a Gem!!!”
Reviewed 23 June 2008

It's tough to write a good review, for selfish reasons... but if I did not, it simply wouldn't do justice to all the good hard work that the folks at Tosson Tower Farm put in to make their farm such a lovely place to stay.

The farm is about 2 miles from the little town of Rothbury and has gorgeous views of the countryside and farmland. For anyone who needs a little time away from city life, this is it!

The rooms are lovely and well-equipped. Beautiful conservatory at the farmhouse where you have breakfast. Delicious breakfast while staring at the picture-perfect scenery. You pretty much have a sensory overload! The breakfast was so good, it wasn't enough! That says a lot for someone who usually doesn't care for breakfast at all.

Many thanks to Ann for making all 4 of us and a little baby so comfortable! She's extremely attentive and helpful, and of course, a great cook!

The B&B has a wonderful setting in this hillside village looking towards the small town of Rothbury.

The care and attention to detail here is second to none and puts many hotels to shame.

There is a wonderful breakfast room - essentially a glass-walled conservatory overlooking wonderful countryside. It is a fantastic start to the day. And the food was great: fresh and friendly service.

The room was clean, bed was great, bathroom perfect and the room had a flat-screen TV and tea and coffee-making facilities.

This was really a beautiful stay in wonderful countryside and I will return.

Stayed one Saturday night early in December, it was a totally spur of the moment last minute booking so were nervous about what we'd find... Very pleasantly surprised & thrilled with the overall ambiance of the B&B which pays such attention to detail.

We were accomodated in one of the recently refurbished barn rooms away from the main farmhouse which I would recommend for its privacy & tranquility. The room was spotlessly clean, warm & well furnished with a well equipped bathroom & super comfy 5' bed.

We had access to a fridge on the landing which was just what we needed for an evening watching XFactor! It was just too cosy to contemplate going out. The view from our window the next morning was breathtaking & something we'd missed on our arrival in the pelting rain the night before...stunning views & I'd recommend Rothbury to anyone visiting Northumberland.

Breakfast was taken in the conservatory of the farmhouse, lovingly prepared & presented & just wonderful!

Thoroughly recommended.

On arriving at Tosson Tower Farm, two miles out of the market town of Rothbury, in the small Tosson hamlet we were greeted by Ann Foggin and were shown our room beautifully decorated, well equipped with all that we needed including a hospitality tray. We used the quiet sitting room with TV and open fire.

Having had a very good night’s sleep, we had a full English farmhouse breakfast in the conservatory off the sitting room with magnificent views of the Coquet Valley. There was a good display of “places to visit” in the area and Ann was very knowledgeable to help us on our decision on our visit to Northumberland.

We are looking forward to returning to Tosson for the “home from home” visit that we had.

We arrived at Tossen Tower Farm to a very warm welcome by Mrs Ann Foggin. We'd booked from the website and wondered if Tossen Tower really could be as fine as it looked -- but it was even better! Our en suite bedroom was very, very comfortable and the breakfast delicious set in a cosy sitting room with views to Simonside Hills.
There's so much to see and do in the area, our days were full of new sights and excitement from exploring Rothbury on the other side of the Coquet River to a great day out at Alnwick and its Castle. Another day we went to the Coast and Bamburgh, spectacular beach with Bamburgh Castle towering on the hillside above.
Mrs Foggin is now the honourary Aunt of my son - and we have already booked (to avoid disappointment!) another visit in September!

We recently had the pleasure of staying 3 nights bed & breakfast at TossonTower Farm near Rothbury,Northumberland. The farm is a working sheep farm and is set in beautiful Coquetdale where the River Coquet meanders through the valley. We were made most welcome and the accommodation was first class in all aspects but still retained that homely feel. The views fron the breakfast room were breath taking! We were also given plenty of information about the area and most importantly places where we could eat in the evening and the nearest petrol station! (remember this was a countryside holiday!)
We were able to visit Alnwick Castle and Gardens which offered a whole day out. Also we took a drive east to the coast and the impressive Bamburgh Castle standing high above the golden beaches across the most wonderful countryside and easy, empty roads!
If you can make the visit to Northumberland only once, we certainly recommend TossonTower Tower Farm.

Tosson Tower Farmhouse B & B has become our spiritual second home. A wonderful place and locality that you never tire of , there's always something new to do or see - a new route to walk or cycle, new places to eat or snack and the advice from Ann and the family about the area is invaluable.

We have visited other B&B's as we travel about the UK, have to say Tosson Tower has become the yardstick by which other places are measured - location, facilities including bedrooms and lounge, the welcome from Ann & John, and those breakfasts in the garden room with a fabulous view acroos the Coquet Valley - none compare.

Our last visit in February we took over the whole place - all 6 rooms for ourselves and extended family to celebrate a special birthday - it was a perfect birthday treat - now thinking of another excuse to visit again - don't need one - its the perfect place - peace, tranquillity and hospitality in five star abundance - come on, try it but leave us the odd weekend or two.
