The Haven
Ranked #9 of 12 Rothbury B&B and Inns
Reviewed 28 July 2011

I stayed at The Haven for two nights while cycling and hiking in this area. My room was spacious with a lovely view and with well thought out extras for travellers. The bathroom was spotless and included very nice amenities. The breakfast was excellent with many choices in a nice setting. There was an outside seating area for eating or relaxing with view and the town of Rothbury was only a few minutes walk away. The owners were friendly and went out of there way to make sure I had an enjoyable stay. This was one of the nicest B&B places I stayed in while in England and would come back for an extended stay.

We had read the reviews but this was even better than we expected. Lovely airy rooms, tasteful decor and lots of quaint features. It had that real old England feel: sliding sash windows, beautiful gardens, the village clock chiming the hour. The lounge was a virtual treasure trove of information as were the hosts.

As mentioned in other reviews the breakfast was amazing with a choice of dishes not seen in many five star hotels. Simply the best.

We also commented on the lovely beds and furnishings, we had the best nights sleep in months.

Needless to say before leaving we booked to stay again... that's how good it was.

Do yourself a favour and book it now.

The haven is a lovely place to visit, great food, lovely rooms, and best of all Roz & Ian are great hosts.the hotel sits overlooking Rothbury in a lovely secluded position yet only a few minutes walk to the centre of town. It's also very central for seeing anywhere in Northumberland with it's wonderful roads and hardly any traffic. Thanks Roz and Ian for a great stay. Pat & Chris Dalby.
We will be back!!!

Room Tip: The Haven is a first class B&B

Stayed at The Haven while on a walking holiday with a friend. We had a spacious and very attractive twin bedded room with excellent views over Rothbury and the hills beyond. Although close to the centre of the village it is quietly and pleasantly situated. The front garden is a nice spor to relax and admire the views. Excellent breakfasts with a v aried choice including traditional breakfast, crab omelette and superb porridge with whiskey.

Also very handy for the NT house Cragside which is well worth a visit.

The B&B is a family run business and feels very welcoming and relaxed. Roz the owner is a great host and very easy to get on with - she gave us lots of 'insider tips' about tourist attractions in the areas and was very helpful.

The room was very well kept and had an amazing view of the village and surrounding valley. Luckily the weather was nice and clear so we had a view of the Cheviots and the Simonside Hills.

The breakfast provided was incredible. Homecooked food was on offer - the menu inclouded breakfast dishes such as a full English breakfast, pancakes, smoked salmon scrambled eggs and even crab omlete.
The eggs are so fresh and Roz was telling us that she collects them daily from the hens roaming around the bk garden - delicious.

We had a very relaxing, quiet trip. A big thank you to Roz and her family who made it extra special for us.

Turned up at The Haven after being let down by another B & B who knew nothing about our online booking despite taking our deposit. We are so glad they did. We were made very welcome at The Haven with a nice pot of tea and cake. Food, accommodation, facilities, setting were all fantastic. our hosts were friendly, welcoming, and extremely helpful and it was a pleasure to get back after a hard days sight seeing. Unfortunately we had to cut short our stay for personal reasons but when we go back to Northumberland our first port of call will be The Haven
