Stopped here for 5 nights. Very comfortable room and very quiet.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Food in the restaurant and bar was extremely good quality and very reasonably priced. The service was 10/10.
Great breakfast with a fab Northumberland full monty.
This is a great place to stay and I would recommend it very highly.

Room Tip: We had room 20, very quiet and comfortable

My husband and I have just spent the night at The Queens Head. We had a lovely newly refurbished room, finished just 2 days ago. The staff were very friendly.
The evening meal was excellent. It was the best selection we have ever had for breakfast and again excellent. We would certainly stay again .

Hi Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review, you stayed in the refurbished room that the folk above gave a very poor review to, its confusing as the room had already been redecorated a week before they left their review. Hope you will be able to come and stay with us again.

Stayed here for 1 night on 16.8.14 for Simple Minds concert at Alnwick Castle.

Welcomed by a very friendly chap who took us up to room 15 which is at the front of the hotel overlooking a nice high street. The room was large with a very comfy bed and was well equipped with everything we needed. We did not go for breakfast as we had a late night at the concert and we were very glad of the hotel bar which is very nice and served local ales. Bar man was very friendly.

I would also like to mention the taxi firm that we used - booked online who arrived on time to take us to Alnwick and also collected us after the concert. Friendly driver and very clean cab. They are called Cheap Alnwick taxis and you can get costs and book online.

Rothbury is lovely and we wished that we could stay another night but alas this was not the case.

We would definately return to this hotel if we were back in the area.

Room Tip: Room 15 was very quiet and good location at the front of the hotel.

Hello,

Thank you for the lovely review, so pleased you got a good cab company to get you back from the concert, I thought they sounded wonderful, but you never can tell. Hope you can come back and visit us again.

I have stayed at the Queens Head over 15 times with birdwatching groups, but this most recent visit was for a short family holiday. The hotel is ideally situated for exploring the Northumberland National Park, Druridge Bay Coast and NT Cragside House. It is refreshing to stay somewhere with a personal touch, where you can get to know the staff and where you know any special requests you have will be accommodated. This is what you get at the Queens. Over the last few years the interior decor and rooms have been refurbed and the menu is the best its ever been - plenty of choice and served in a friendly atmosphere in either the formal restaurant or the bar. We like the bar just because you get the ambience of a traditional rural hostelry, though waitresses always very attentive in restaurant and will bring drinks to table. Rooms were usual clean and comfortable standard, food was consistently good on the three evenings. Our steak meal on the last night was a holiday highlight! Also, travelling with our 2 year old daughter, we welcomed the presence of a high chair that didnt need disinfecting before you could put her in it, and a menu that didnt just have nuggets and chips on it - sausage mash and yorkshire was delicious! Thankyou to the staff for accommodating all our needs with a young child. Will be back next year.

Room Tip: If travelling with children ask for the family room with two adjoining rooms separated by a door.

We wanted to stay conveniently for Cragside, and the satnav said two miles as we headed for it. In the main street of Rothbury, a pleasant town, with convenient parking immediately behind.
We noticed that there was a singer that evening and were somewhat concerned that our rest could be disturbed, both weary after a drive from Scotland and a steep and hot walk on Cragside's wonderful estate.
Dinner was good pub food, with local excellent sausages and friendly and attentive service. A local blonde beer washed it down. Our room on the second floor was quiet and we didn't hear the singer. Breakfast was good.
The room was a little tired with the bathroom light failing but clean with a comfortable bed. Would stay there again.
