“When can we come back?”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

This was our first visit to Foxholm, and I hope it won't be our last. We had a really fantastic stay. What a lovely welcome from the new owner, we would never have guessed he was new to the business. Our room was spotless and the bed was really comfortable with a view over the beautiful garden. Our room had a bath which was welcome after being out in the rain, and the shower was really powerful and hot also. Tea and home made cake available in the afternoon in the guest lounge was a nice touch not to mention very tasty.
Breakfast was delicious, I had scrambled egg with smoked salmon, and my husband has full English, all made with fresh locally sourced ingredients, and plenty of toast with honey from two doors down, couldn't fault it.
Location is great for the coast and the moors with some great walks straight from the B&B, and the pub across the road serves great food and good guest beers.
We will definately be back.

We stayed at this BB very last minute and the communications were second to none. Upon arrival we had a fantastic, warm and friendly welcome, Tea/coffee and Victoria sponge which was perfect, were served in the guest lounge. The garden areas were beautiful. The breakfast was superb and no lunch was required that day. This is a lovely and tranquil BB, with fantastic and friendly hosts. The recommendation of Anvil Inn opposite is a must. Thoroughly recommend this BB.

The welcome we received on our arrival was first class, with tea/coffee & cake
served in the guest lounge as soon as all the preliminary bits were done!

Our room - Samburu – looked out onto the beautifully planted rear garden.
The room was immaculately clean & the large bed, covered in Yvonne’s African style handmade quilt, was superbly comfortable with plenty of drawer space as well as hooks for hanging clothes
There was a variety of drinks to choose from for an early morning cuppa, with fresh milk supplied every evening in a thermos flask - much better than those awful cartons- and Yvonne or Julie were always happy to make you a brew when you got back from your daily travels.
The large en-suite shower room - with a full sized shower and hot water whenever needed - was spotless. A large cupboard gave extra space for hanging clothes & hiding suitcases. Large fluffy towels & complimentary toiletries gave that it a special touch.

Breakfast was sublime with fruit juice, various cereals, fresh fruit, a choice of English, Continental or American style, and plenty of toast with jam/ marmalade, tea or coffee
Thanks to beautiful weather we had ours served in the conservatory & so were able to watch the birds feeding & a pheasant walking around the garden!

All in all this is a heavenly place to stay - Julie & Yvonne work really hard to please their guests - so much so that we have already booked to return!

We stayed at this B and B for one night I wish it could have being more ,it puts a lot of top hotels to shame. The attention to detail was second to noneThe room we had ( Sambura) was lovely with a African theme which was understandable after talking to Yvonne and listening to her interesting story's . The lounge is very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day. I would certainly recommend this B and B but don't take my word for it give it a visit you won't be disappointed

Room Tip: Sambura garden view

We were lucky that you decided to stay over on you 'car review' weekend and found Foxholm. I'd love to have heard more about your vintage/veteran car(s) and hope you'll stay again when you are next in the area so we can catch up. Thank you for your kind comments. I look forward to welcoming you in the future.

We stayed in this delightful dwelling for just one night and would have loved to have stayed longer. Julie and Yvonne have gone to great lengths in their attention to detail to ensure that your stay is an enjoyable one. It began with really good communications, adding flexibility to our preferred check in time. We were given a warm welcome by Julie who showed us to our delightful "home from home" room, explaining all about all the available amenities. The room had all the amenities that one would expect from any good 4 star accomodation (with some extra touches). There are hot and cold refreshments in the room, however, we were offered a tea and coffee and a slice of Homemade cake (a speciality of Yvonne) and it was delightful. I dont want to imply that this is the "norm" but is was much appreciated. The breakfast is first class, you will not be disappointed and this was served in a lovely Conservatory setting over-looking a beautilfully kept english garden. These two ladies have very good knowledge of the area should you need guidance. There is sufficient off-road parking. There are a couple of really good eating houses just about 15 mins away and Scarborough Sea Side Resort is around a 20mins drive. A perfect location / retreat away from the noise at sensible prices and top notch service by two very nice genuine people. Recommended.

I can thoroughly recommend this great B and B in peaceful Sawdon. I was welcomed with a pot of tea and delicious lemon cake served on the terrace overlooking the beautifully maintained garden. Fascinating African art and artefacts complement the en suite rooms which are well appointed for your every need - including a flask of fresh milk with the tea and coffee making facilities.

The deliciously tempting breakfast menu is so comprehensive you are spoilt for choice, sadly I could only stay one night but I hope to return.

After all the trouble with double booking elsewhere its great to hear that Foxholm fitted the bill. Thank you for taking a moment to write a review, especially when I imagine you are busy with the final wedding details. Here's hoping all the plans come together and you all have agreat day.
Your positive comments are very encouraging and, of course, we'd love to have you stay again in the future.
