My wife and I vacationed at the Marriott Jan.13th to 20 this year. It was our second stay at this resort, the 1st time was six years ago. We enjoyed our stay then and we even enjoyed it more this time. We found the resort a lot quieter this time, last time we vacationed in February. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. At the front desk a gentleman by the name of Alexis helped me clear up a few things on my room bill. All wait staff were great, but Laurean and Loriel stood out.
Food at the resort was exceptional. We were all inclusive so we did not eat out at all. Blu offers great seafood, Cucina has great Italian dishes and the Royal Grille is the place to go to for a great steak.
There are three pools. The main pool is always pretty busy, so when we wanted to lay by the pool we went to the north pool, there is also a south pool. Large pools, lots of lounges and not to many people, and quiet.
We had a suite down by the ocean. We had an ocean view on the main floor. It was a great room. Staff kept it very clean. We had a gentleman by the name of Wilson care for our room most of the week. If we needed anything, he was happy to get it for us.
When we arrived, Craig took us to our room. He took the time to make sure we knew were everything was. The ice machine, fridge, safe etc.
The beach is huge and very clean. It is dragged by a tractor every morning, clearing any and all debris. Lounges were plentiful.
When when we go back to St. Kitts, we will be sure to make the Marriott our home for a week.

Room Tip: Ocean view down by the ocean.

Overall this property was clean and the staff friendly. I would compare the atmosphere to a nice all inclusive hotel in Mexico. The hotel is located on the Atlantic side of the island and therefore is extremely windy. Even though the air temperature is in the 70-80 degree range you should light sweaters or jackets for evening. We stayed in an Ocean View Suite and our friends stayed in a Regular Garden Villa room. The Suite was quite large. Our Suite was located in the main building, which is located in the front/middle of the property and was convenient to the front desk, front entrance, main pool and casino. The view was of many roof tops then the ocean beyond. The air conditioners from the other buildings were extremely loud so if noise bothers you, you probably won't sleep with your doors open. The bed was very comfortable. The Garden Villas were nice too, with a good size bathroom. If you ask for an ocean front room make sure you request an upper level because there is a wall on the beach that blocks the view on the ground floor. For breakfast, there is one choice; the Calypso. To dine in the restaurant is expensive. We found getting coffee and a breakfast sandwich from the counter was a better option and just as good. The pool restaurant was good for lunch and there is also an option to order a pizza near the pool.

The property is located on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. They have finally gotten some new beach and pool chairs (which were needed as there were a lot of broken ones) and there is plenty of shaded seating poolside and beach front.

One of the best-kept secrets of this hotel is the 7th floor. It is a small lookout area all of the way at the very top of the hotel (there are no rooms there). When looking at the hotel, or at photos, it's the part at the top with the arches -- maybe looks a little like a bell tower. Ask at the concierge desk for an escort up there (special keys are needed to use that floor in the elevators) and take your camera for spectacular island views. Catch both the Caribbean and Atlantic in one photo! Go around 5:30pm and catch the colors as the sun sets behind the mountain - or see if you can catch the full moon rising over the Atlantic. For the early risers, you might catch a sunrise -- but it's been overcast in the mornings during our stay here.

The ugly:

The property has improved some since last year, but still needs some work in many places: there are definitely sections of peeling paint, unkept/unweeded/unplanted gardens, and dirty walkways. The hotel ownership seems to be working on that and it really depends on the part of the property you are staying in as to how nice/unkept the property is. In our building, the finish is peeling from the entryway doors, and just 2 of the 3 entrances have had the trellises in the entrances redone. The other is an eyesore. The birds come to the trellises above the doors and sit, so there is bird poop in the doorways -- this is not swept up regularly for reasons I cannot understand. There were also times when we noticed that litter had blown into the gardens. It was there for the whole week and not one of the maintenance or garden workers picked it up.

Housekeepers are hit-or-miss. Their carts don't seem to be stocked appropriately and we had some difficulty getting hand towels and wash cloths -- although the bath towels were plentiful. I think my biggest issues with housekeeping though were these:
1) they broom sweep the rooms, which really just stirs up the dust on the floor (the scatter rugs shed horribly!) and coats everything (esp computer screens) with a film of dust.
2) there were several times when the housekeeping staff had collected soiled linens, trash, and room service trays and then piled all of that in the entryway of the building -- presumably for pickup. On 2 separate occasions, all of that sat outside our door for 3 days waiting for pickup. It did not enhance my visit to have to pick my way through soiled linens and trash to enter and exit the building.

The bad:
There are too many rooms on the property without any balcony at all -- which is a negative for me, as I love to enjoy my morning coffee or an afternoon cocktail out in the breeze on the deck. If this is something that matters to you, be sure to include it in your request when you make your reservations.

Happy Hour at the pool is limited to an hour and only half-sized beers and rail drinks are discounted -- sorry, frozen drink lovers.

A few nights a week there is live entertainment in the lobby bar area. This is loud and travels upward to all of the rooms in the main building. Also, there are times when corporate or other events have live entertainment on the stage just outside of the main building. I believe all of this shuts down around 10 ish, so it's not really late, but front facing rooms just over the lobby bar may have competing music up until that time. The detatched buildings to the north side might be quieter. Also, there is a beach bar next door to the Marriott that played loud live music well past midnight on a few occasions and also set off fireworks around mid-night, so I suspect that would disturb folks with water views in the southern set of buildings (numbered 1 - 9). My Mother awoke and was afraid the fireworks were gun shots, so that was disturbing! I was told police were called to the bar -- which is off of Marriott property.

The good:
When it's not too windy, the fountains are turned on and are lovely. It is too windy through the first half of January.

The restaurants are generally good.

The Royal Grille is a steakhouse located on the first floor. For reasons I cannot understand, it's not listed as a st kitts restaurant in the restaurant section of trip advisor, but you can find more comments under general hotel comments. The center cut is 7 oz, I usually order my meat cooked medium but here I would recommend medium rare. it's served with au jus and over a bed of reheated mashed potatoes and is accompanied by a stalk of asperagas, a slice of carrot and one broccoli floret. The portions are adequate, but small by US standards and so I wouldn't recommend planning to share a dish. The 16 oz cowboy steak is a very thin cut. Both steaks were cooked and seasoned nicely. Expect to pay $40 - 46 usd for your entree. We enjoyed the chocolate Royale dessert -- I recommend it if you like chocolate and mint. A nice treat at $9 usd and you can get it to go if you like it enough to return for more! Make a reservation, or see if you can sit at the bar. It's closed a few nights a week, so plan ahead.

The Marriott restaurants offer 3 nights when there is an all you can eat buffet for between $38 - 40 usd. We walked through 2 of these and decided for the value we'd prefer to order off of the menu. The BBQ night offered salads and coleslaws, cheesy flatbread or regular breads and butter, mac-n-cheese, potatoes, 1" slices of corn on the cob, jerk chicken, mahi-mahi in sauce, ribs and a beef carving station... and dessert selections.

The Italian restaurant offered a chef station where you choose what you want to go into your pasta dish: meat, fish, chicken, broccoli, onions, pasta and a choice of 3 sauces. It also had a bread and salad bar and is all you can eat. Both of these looked ok, but we didn't eat there.

There are 3 pools on the property. The main pool is next to the bar, plays music all day and tends to have the kids there as well. It's a fun scene and easy to get poolside drink or food service. If you want something without all of the splashing and music and bar scene, check out the pools to either side. During our stay, these were quiet places for reading, napping and soaking in the sun.

I would come back again... this is my second trip.

We stayed at this hotel for five days and were very impressed by the staff. Each person we cam in contact with was extremely helpful pleasant and gracious. The grounds were kept in excellent condition as well.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to get away to the tropics and spend time at a well kept and enjoyable resort.

I would have rated this property higher except I found the food a bit disappointing. The peel and eat shrimp at poolside is very good. We had lunch once at the Calypso that was very good as well. The problem was with the evening meals that were catered in a buffet style for our group. This food was usually cold and mediocre.

Loved my week on St Kitts, good snorkeling, good food, loved Nevis...
The St Kitts Marriott - nice but something is missing, the foliage? the hotel layout?
Had a lovely room on 4th floor - trouble twice with noise next door which was taken care of with a phone call...
food - a problem - breakfast was fine although overpriced, ate at Steak House and the beachfront restaurant ---mediocre food, high prices,
made it to outside restaurants most nites which were generally lovely and had very good food
used an Interval International special package to come .( although I happily upgraded as soon as I arrived got 4th floor oceanview... not sure would want to pay full price...

Room Tip: make sure to get a room on an upper floor which faces the ocean

Have stayed here twice and love it here. The rooms are wonderful (get ocean view) and everyone is so friendly. There are some great restaurants nearby and also some very rustic places with great food. Try Shipwreck bar and grill...very rustic and right on the beach. They rent snorkeling gear too. The casino is small but lots of fun. Would come back every year if we could!

This resort by far exceeded expectations for a Marriot Hotel Chain...Everything you could possibly need is here...restaurants (high end to low end). Duty Free Shops, Boutiques, Sundries, Casino...POOL, BAR, BEACH (the last three are all I ever need)

The quality of the room is good...not 5 stars but good. Spring for the ocean views...the mountainside view isn't much to look at....

Room Tip: Don't stay by the staircases....you can hear the echos from the lobby...also cocktail parties ar...
