I visited this beautiful area this time last year, on a sunny day with blue sky. Yes it really was blue.
There is a car park with a tourist alley one side for all your souvenirs and somewhere to eat. Good food, and no hard sell for once. I enjoyed myself.
Then for a modest fee on the other side of the car park, we went through to look at the tower, which includes many attractions.
There are brass models of the earlier versions of the tower, a house, with displays about the tower and its supporters over the centuries.
Many inscriptions in stone for those interested in Chinese calligraphy, and more.
A small building where the women used to sit during the day and do their needlecraft. Now you can buy examples of what they used to make.
Then climb the tower for breathtaking views of Dongting Lake. Its not that the tower is tall, but the view itself.
There's also a small buddhist temple below the tower if you're that way inclined.
