We booked one night here via a Very Chic promotion. We were notified by a phone call several days in advance of the stay that on the night we were booked in (a Sunday in early February) the restaurant would be closed so did we want to consider a different night. We thought it very kind to inform us but due to travel restrictions we had to stick to our original booking. We were greeted kindly and informed that we were the only guests in this night so after we checked in, the lady took our breakfast order, showed us how to operate the sauna, hammam and hot tub, gave us 2 glasses of pineau des Charentes, the key to the front door, and said see you tomorrow. This might not work for everyone but for us was perfectly fine. We were upgraded to a deluxe king room with a nice view over the flooded Charente River. The room was very fresh, pleasant and comfortable, and free wifi. The spa area is small but pretty good - be careful though when the floor gets wet it is VERY slippery. There is water and nice tea to drink while you're there. The bed and linens were very good, and we had a great sleep. Our breakfast was delivered to our room the next morning and was perfect! So while we didn't get to see any dining rooms, bar, etc we enjoyed our stay very much. The exterior of the building from the verandah side is a little blah and disappointing but from the parking lot and swimming pool sides is quite pretty. We were very pleased with the promotional value for this stay.

We did enjoy a break at this lovely typically French hotel.
Beautiful gardens and public rooms. A very comfortable spa and lovely swimming pool.
We did not eat there as the restaurant was closed on the first night of our stay . We also thought it overpriced.
We definitely gave breakfast a miss at €19 per person

Having booked at the very last minute (as a surprise to my wife) we drove from Paris to the hotel. We were greeted by a perfect welcome, they had encountered a problem with our booking which meant our second night had been double booked. The solution - they had arranged for us to stay in another top hotel in central Cognac instead. Initially I was a little concerned at having to 'up sticks' and check out and in again; time can be so precious. However, they agreed to upgrade our room (to a suite) and when viewing the room we fell in love with the idea. They agreed to let us stay at reduced rate for another day.
Value for money aside, we chose to dine with them. That turned out to be a monumentally wise decision. Each mouthful of our seven courses, including two or three surprise courses had been carefully crafted by a purveyor of considerable skill. Fabulous indeed.
The sauna, steam room and hot tub served to add to our luxurious relaxation away from our toddler son for the very first time, their enchanting garden and the cognateque added layer upon layer of sumptuous enjoyment.
Bravo.
When we returned after a night in Cognac, we were still unable to eat a full meal, having been so incredibly well fed two nights before. Instead we sipped champagne and took oysters in the bar. I'd have no hesitation in returning at all. The staff were just so... assuring, measured, complementary to the ambience

Room Tip: The suite in room 23 is wonderful. If it's not booked, try to make an offer. We got it for €150...

I stayed here for one night in November whilst on a work trip to Cognac. I found the hotel to be very nice and tranquil. The rooms were lovely and comfortable and I found the staff to be most accomodating and helpful.

I would happily stay here in the future and would recommend this to anyone who may be wanting a base to visit Cognac and the surrounding areas.

Room Tip: A great base if visiting Cognac or surrounding areas.

We have stayed in Chateau L´Yeuse for two nights on our trip to France. The property itself is beautiful with stunning garden and lovely terrace. The staff was helpful and nice, the room decor is cute and cozy. We really minded the restaurant being fully booked mostly by locals - the management should know better and try and keep a few spots open also for the hotel guests. By the way, finding a place to eat in Cognac is a nightmare, which only added to our irritation. Also, the opening hours for the spa are highly inadequate as guests are mostly interested in these in the evening, which is, however not possible, as the hotel closes the spa at 7.
I would really recommend having a look at the beautiful cognacotheque. The hotel has a great selection of cognacs that can be enjoyed on the terrace. The breakfast is expensive, but contains bio and local food. My boyfriend had to ask for his coffee cup to be changed though, as it had a spider web in it - looks like the corner tables are not dusted as often as they should be. Overall a lovely experience with minor hiccups.

Things didn’t get off to a good start when we were shown our room. I’d requested a quiet room with shower but ended up above breakfast room/terrace area and no shower just a bath. WiFi access is available in room. A walk around their gardens is definitely worth the effort but unsuitable for people unstable on their feet.
Dinner was so-so……..my foie gras was excellent but of course we are in France so that should be a given. My husband’s starter “Sandwich de l’Ocean” was average bordering on boring and it attracted a supplement of 10 Euros. Why? I have a real irritation with hotels who add greedy little supplements to their menus. I had the lamb which was very pink in places and hubbie’s beef was medium/rare – a little too rare for his taste but again, he ate it. Why do restaurant staff bother asking how one would like meat cooking if they don’t follow your request?! We travel through France a lot so understand that their idea of medium cooked is not the same as the English version so we always compensate for that when advising how we like the meat cooked. Service was chaotic to say the least and, at times, the staff appeared to be arguing between themselves. There didn’t appear to be anyone in charge and overseeing the whole operation.
The bed was large and very comfortable so we both slept well. Towels and toiletries were adequate.

Breakfast at 18 euros per person is ridiculously expensive and bordering on London hotel prices. We voted with our feet, checked out and stopped off in Jonzac for a super 10 euro per person breakfast.
Standards have dropped and prices have increased disproportionately since our last visit so, on those grounds, we won’t be staying again.

We arrived late afternoon for this part of our France tour for a three night stay in August. I had booked a garden view, but I was very happy to be offered a free upgrade to the river view. The garden view should be renamed the car park view, although it’s a very nice car park I would suggest you try and get the river view too as it’s much nicer and like us you might also get one of the very large rooms with the bay windows. We were shown the room first to see if we were happy and the room was very large. You came into the entrance with a separate toilet and bathroom on one side and wardrobes the other. You then go through another door into the large bedroom, with a telly that closes into a closet and the usually mini bar etc. There was a lot of storage and an excellent ceiling fan instead of the very annoying air conditioning, which I never like.

The second night was our anniversary so we ate in the hotel and had an absolutely fantastic meal. We spoke to the chef earlier in the day as I am vegetarian and there was nothing on the menu I could eat. The chef was very accommodating and came up with a menu for me including sea bass, so that was great. What I hadn’t anticipated were all the free bits and pieces we were going to be served in-between the courses we ordered. Firstly you get appetisers, and then you get your first course, followed by a second first course, then your main meal. After the main meal we got an extra dessert followed by the dessert we ordered, we then got cheese, followed by chocolates, I think that came to about seven courses!!! All for 50 euros which was a bargain. It was such a lovely restaurant very posh and the staff were very attentive and explained every course to you as it was presented.

Where they let themselves down is the breakfast. I suspect it’s not the same staff as the evening meal at its worlds apart. The selection is not very wide and there were lots of dead flies in the fruit salads, so I just couldn’t eat it. You couldn’t get any drinks at all without asking as there are none out. When asked for you get a tea or coffee with an orange juice. Not sure if you can ask for anything else or a further orange juice as the staff were so allusive we were lucky to get the first drink.

The parking is easy and to the front of the hotel, we went out and ate out the before coming back to the hotel on the other two nights we were there so I don’t know if there is anywhere walkable to eat other than the hotel but here is another hotel opposite that has a restaurant.
