“Great Way to Treat Yourself”
Reviewed 30 August 2014

Although more than I usually spend on hotels, Chateau de Salettes was well worth the treat. We had a very commodious suite with beautiful views of the countryside and nearby vineyards. We awoke to roosters! The room was spotless and well apportioned; I found the beds to be very comfortable, the bathroom a great treat (jets in bathtub!), and the overall vibe was chic and modern but respectful of the classic chateau concept. The restaurant is incredibly pricey and perhaps if we did not have to drive, we might have walked to another place for dinner. However, the dinner was good - perhaps a little too precious in its presentation (lots of foams!) - but fun. The staff was very nice and helpful. It was a little too cold otherwise we would have tried out the pool.

Room Tip: The hotel supplies slippers, robes and plenty of towels for the pool.

Over the last few years we have stayed here twice and we shall be visiting again in the future.
The location is beautiful and peaceful. The chateau has been very well renovated with a sensible strategy of going for a modern touch, thereby avoiding the pitfalls of a "period" approach. The staff are always very friendly and helpful and the restaurant is, of course, superb; summer evenings under the canopy are very pleasant! Their own wines are delicious too.
The swimming pool is practical and the valley walks refreshing.

Chateau de Salettes has good intentions. They have tried to marry a stunning Medieval fortified building with modern decor and have missed the mark in the process. The furniture looks like it is from Ikea, the bathroom fittings are plastic and the overall care of their clientele is far below a hotel of this standard. But they do try and I don't think they are aware of their shortcomings, which is why I am compelled to write this.

No one to take our cases to our room s (one flight up).

Bed pillows are synthetic (not very nice ones at that) and request for feather or down was not accommodated (in the middle of foie gras country you would have thought goose down pillows would be easy to get).

Breakfast, at €21 is indifferent at best and grossly over priced. Scrambled eggs appeared to be made with frother. Paper napkins in a Michelin 1*, even at breakfast, is not what one would expect.

We came back on Sunday, after a tiring day out , to find our rooms had not been made up. There was no one available to make the rooms up.

I hope they take note of these comments. Many of the party we are with are scattered around local B & Bs and we wish we had saved our money and done the same and we might have considered trying the Chateau's restaurant.

Our stay in Chateau de Salettes was very fine. We stay in a room 'Grand Comfort' and everything was so good, better than we could expect. A nice and clean room overlooking the valley with lots of vineyards.
In the evening, in the 1 Michelinstar restaurant, we could choose between three different menu's, each of them full of taste according the wines of Chateau de Salettes.
The Chateau runned by friendly people as Cathy and her staff is a wonderful place to stay and explore 'La Douce France'

I have rarely been more won over by a hotel than this - our Grand Comfort Room was stylish, minimalist and spacious with a wonderful view - we simply could not ask more for more . Just wish we could take the room home!

Not to everyones taste maybe but it fitted ours

And as for the food - it was superb and excellent value . Ok not all the dishes worked but the combinations were intriguing and I would recommend you add the wine option to the Toulouse Lautrec Menu .

We cant wait to go back

This wonderful chateau property is in a magnificent situation with the countryside ressembling a Tuscan landscape. The location is less than an hours drive from Toulouse. The nearby towns of Albi and Gaillac with their extensive heritage and culture to offer the tourist. Magnificent hilltop villages such as Cordes sur Ciel are only a fifteen minute drive away. Not to mention the choice of Gaillac winemakers, many offering free visits and wine tastings. The chateau itself also produces its own quality wine, which is served in the restaurant.
Gastronomy is of a very high standard. Breakfast is all made to order guaranteeing fresh produce.
The 'Adventure ' dinner menu is a culinary experience not to be missed. This pleasure is further enhanced by the sommeliers choice of wines to match each course.
The rooms are ultra modern, tastefully restored inside the walls of a renovated chateau. All comforts are catered for guaranteeing a restful nights sleep,
The professional staff offered excellent service and in a friendly inobtrusive manner.
The gardens and the outdoor swimming pool offer perfect relaxation.
Yes, we would be delighted to stay in Chateau de Salettes at a future date.
