“Nice renovation, still details to take care of”
Reviewed 17 August 2014 via mobile

We stayed several times before, Dutch owner sold hotel and nice (and needed) renovation was done

+ points:
+ Very nice renovation of the hotel, was nice surprise
+ the lady who took orders for breakfast was very friendly and service minded. She just has right spirit!!!
+ hotel has all the means to become good hotel, needs to get the details right.

- points:
- please cut the grass behind the swimming pool, gave bad impression to me.
- very basic feature of hotel is warm water for shower. Nothing worse then shower with somethimes cold and sometimes warm water.
- no elevator available although friendly help of reception.
- made reservation for restaurant at least 1,5 months before but got impression that local french were more important....
- breakfast should be included in rate. 19 eur p/p for small breakfast is NOT value for money
- service at hotel, restaurant and the bar could have been better, quicker and more pro-active.
- when charging this amounts of money the customer should be better taken care of.
- cannot buy wine anymore at reception.

- points:
-Please cut the grass next to the pool, leaves bad impression.
-Value for money related to breakfast is quite poor. Should be included within the overall rate.
-Pity you cannot buy wine anymore at the reception
-Hamburger and chips should be banned from kits menu. Before this was NOT the case....
-Made reservation for restaurant al least 2 months before but still put away somewhere at the side...Preference for local french people??????
-Service in restaurant could be faster and more pro-active.
- At the end price for hotel plus restaurant is quite expensive and for this all should have been perfect.
- Still not used to french arrogance.
- in general service levels could be improved for price.

+ points
+Lady who took order at breakfast very friendly, she has the right spirit !!!!
+Very nice renovation of this hotel, done with lot of class.
+ this hotel has all the characteristics to be a top hotel and restaurant, has to get it right with the details as it is not cheap and should meet those quality standards.

The Junior suite was excellent. Lots of space and the air con worked well in 33C heat.
The Rouge et Blanc restaurant is outstanding with great service from Guillaume and his Team.
The Chef prepares superb meals to a very high standard.
Friendly but professional service from both hotel and restaurant.
We will be returning before the end of this year.

Room and ensuite were a bit on the small side but very clean and the bed is comfortable.
The restaurant Rouge&Blanc is a good restaurant and serve tasty regional food.
Les Maritonnes is just on the opposite side of the road from the Hameau du Vin Duboeuf (wine museum) which makes it very convenient to spend at least a couple of hours learning all about wine in Beaujolais before dinner!

I have known this hotel for a long time. Recently it changed owners and most of the hotel and restaurants were renovated. It looks almost new, while retaining its stylish, classic style.
Room was small but very comfortable, reasonably priced. The restaurant is outstanding, good value for money.
The location is very good. Not far from the autoroute. Parking is gated with ample room.
Very friendly, helpful staff.

Room Tip: The standard rooms are perfect, but probably a little small for a couple.
