Great view over the bay in this simple outdoor restaurant/terrace. Lovely fresh fish and we enjoyed the fresh grilled anchovies to start and the whole Merlu (hake?) with garlic Spanish style - yum! Friendly and welcoming and it seemed full of locals which says a lot!

The food was amazing. The steak for two was massive and was cooked perfectly. I got the octopus special and while it was good, it was not as great as the fish looked(but it was a "for two" portion and no one would split with me). They weren't flexible, I wanted frites instead of roasted with my octopus, although I got plenty of my mum and brothers that came with their steak. The Greek salad was average, but the desert was outstanding. It's a small seaside bar restaurant and I really would give it a try. The waiter Alex was really nice.

Despite having booked a table for 4, we had to wait an extra 40 minutes before getting seated with no explanations or apologies.
Then, we had "couteaux" as a starter: overcooked, full of sand, we were near to throw them back to kitchen...
For the main course, we had gambas, quite average, also overcooked and not even shelled...they came with 1 potato, no other veggies...
Wine came after we finished the starter...
All in all makes it a no place to go.

A typical tourist trap with standard, boring food and crazy prices served with complete disinterest. Overlooking the beach this restaurant is one oercrowded places that tourists can go to in Guethary and is like all the restaurants there overcrowded. Guethary is a beach town that is generally underserved by restaurants and other facilities and a reservation is definitely needed in the summer time. The average quality food was served by an arrogant waiter who was for more interested in chatting to his friends than paying attention to the guests. This restaurant is a typical example of the dramatic slide in the quality of food and service that is evident throughout much of France now.

The restaurant location is superb and evening dining can be a real pleasure .
Visited this time with family and the vegetarian in our party was able to eat from the main menu.
We ate very good starters and puds , one veggie main course of omelette with Greek salad and another excellent main course of very freshly caught fish with chips . However, the shared mains of merlu a l'espagnole ( hake cooked with a garlic and vinaigrette sauce ) was well below local standards with a watery sauce , cold fish and what appeared to be uncooked pickled garlic slices . This dish is normally served with fresh garlic fried and sliced and a substantial sauce over a hot fresh whole fish.
To be fair to the restaurant it was an extremely busy evening and the dish may have been hurried in preparation - although that's not really acceptable excuse.
As with anywhere is the port area of Guethary , parking in season can be a nightmare so best leave your vehicle up in the main part of the village and walk.
Booking necessary in main summer holiday evenings but lunchtimes more relaxed. The restaurant is normally closed in winter
