“Not be be missed if you're anywhere in the vicinity”
Reviewed 20 June 2014

During a day trip to visit the medieval villages of La Roque-sur-Ceze and Aigueze, we decided to stop at this restaurant for lunch after having read the reviews of the restaurants in the two villages. The superlative TA reviews were right on the mark. This is a very good restaurant. First, the outdoor terrace was nearly full, but we were given a table and the two waiters who served the entire terrace were excellent. Friendly, knowledgable and fast. The food and quality of preparation was excellent as was the value. My wife had the plate du jour which was a generous piece of grilled chicken breast, a wedge of pate de pays, roasted potatoes, salad and chantal cheese. Also on the plate was a small bowl of the most outstanding ratatouille I have every had. Full and veggies and it must have simmered for hours. As my wife couldn't finish everything, I used it to dip my bread it. I wish I had the recipe. All for only E 12.50. As I wasn't that hungry, I ordered an entree of diced zucchini with diced red pepper, and diced ham and cheese, with parmesan crumble. A unique dish and excellent. With wine and a shared dessert and expresso, it was a perfect afternoon. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit if you're anywhere near it.

“Stretch the palate...”
Reviewed 8 June 2014 via mobile

So a Canadian goes into a restaurant which has a menu item ... Pieds Paquets... and, after a brief explanation from the owner, rolls the dice. I have tried tripe a couple of times, at dim sum, I think. However never had lamb's foot. These two pretty much offal ingredients combined with a delicious stewing broth to make a surprisingly fine slurpable meal. The meat just falls off the knuckles (which are pretty small, it's a lamb for heaven's sake) and, while you have to work at the tripe, it's worth the risk to your conservative palate. Madame had some turkey parts (like the tender little oyster bits near the butt, I think) which she enjoyed. As with many meals in the region, there was an over abundance of food but you're your own ingestion cop! Dine well and not necessarily too wisely...

“OK food in pleasant environment”
Reviewed 14 June 2012

This is one of the few warterside restaurants to be found in this lovely region. Above the river and close to stunning la Roque suer Ceze and the dramatic cascades the location is unbeatble. There re 3 menus from €17 to 28 with a reasonable wine list. The welcome and service is good, the food is honest and well cooked countruy food - Pieds et paquets, Rognon de Veau, magret etc. Nothing spectacular but perfectly aceptable. More fish or veggie dishes would be a help.
