“Perfect surprise!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 March 2014

Booked it a surprise getaway for my partner and I. Told him we were going to the pub but prebooked a room in secret. Instead of going back home afterwards, he was given a key by a super friendly stuff. Perfect surprise! The pub was excellent (especially those VIP seats by the fire!), the room (we stayed in Bayham) was quirky and super clean. The shower was one of the best ever and I liked the idea of a split-level accommodation. The lounge was small, I admit but the bedroom seemed roomy with high ceiling and exposed beams. The terrace is a nice touch and it must be perfect in spring/summer. The only downside was a noise from the road in the morning (Bayham is the closest one to the road) but maybe because I am a trouble sleeper.

Room Tip: Bayham is the closest one to the road; traffic noise can be heard in the morning

Fab rooms...clean, modern and well appointed although a couple of issues- the spiral stairs of death...rickety and very slippery and the volcanic towel rails that can burn your bits if you lean against them. The food used to be better...now it's all a bit straight out of the freezer. The breakfast was excellent though....

Great pub. great accomodation.

Accomodation is private and modern and has great attention to detail. Bathroom is beautiful. No expense spared - John Lewis items used and make it a great stay.

Pub food and drink is beautiful - complimented by great service.

Will stay again.

(Road noise could be an issue for some, wasnt for me)

We decided to book a room and dinner for the New year celebrations based on previous visits. We had a wonderfull evening, the room dinner and disco were excellent, and the staff made us very welcome. The owners and their staff are to be congratulated on their high standards of service. We look forward to our next visit.

We booked a room and meal at short notice and what a great little find it was. The rooms are in a small outhouse and are all newly decorated, very tasteful and to a good standard with very comfortable beds and bedding. Its worth noting however the bed ( at least in the room we stayed in) was located up a spiral staircase so may be tricky for those with mobility issues. Our room also had a large shower but no bath which would have been nice. Lovely Bayliss and Harding toiletries and teas and coffee left in all rooms on a small tray. We had a delicious meal in the restaurant, two european ladies looked after us very well and couldn't have been more helpful. Lovely buzzy atmosphere on a Saturday evening. My only suggestions would be a) a few more non cheese based vegetarian options would have been welcomed and b) we paid £130 for a room for the night which seemed a little expensive as it was an additional £20 for breakfast. Don't get me wrong the rooms and the restaurant are both lovely but as they're not really big enough to comfortably chill out in nor have a leisurely bath in £130 room only seemed a touch steep. That said we do hope to return and wish them all the best with their lovely new rooms - this is a great little find in a lovely part of Kent.

This is a lovely pub with a great outdoor eating and garden area. Awesome for Saturday afternoon drinks and Sunday Roasts. We had dinner on Saturday night and recommend booking. The food was lovely, service excellent and friendly. It is a gastro pub style so higher than country pub pricing but we thought it was value for money . They have recently built guest accommodation overlooking the garden. We stayed in The Bacchus Suite, which as a split level was very nice but wouldn't call it a suite. The pictures make the downstairs space look bigger than it is. It is very well appointed with lovely bedroom furnishings and the bathroom is large with a rain shower and automatic lighting. Unfortunately maybe because the accommodation is so new the bathroom smelt. The rooms also have emergency lighting so when you turn the lights off at night you are surrounded in a bright green glow. It is too bright so bring an eye mask. At the pricier end of the market in this market I don't feel it was value for money.

With the lovely weather this summer, we decided to take a two-night minibreak at The Vineyard in Lamberhurst. They have recently extended their dining space, refurbished the outside terrace and converted the old buildings overlooking the garden into four separate guest accommodations. We have always loved eating at The Vineyard so when the new rooms opened we were very keen to give them a go. We were not disappointed. The refurbishment work has been done to a very high standard. Our room (Bacchus) consisted of a small snug with leather sofa and TV on the ground floor and a lovely high-ceilinged bedroom upstairs, reached via a cute spiral staircase. The rooms are not big but are extremely comfortable and furnished to a very high standard. The bathroom was very modern, spotlessly clean and featured a walk-in wet-room shower. Great tea and coffee making stuff meant that we could relax on our personal terrace before going across to breakfast on the restaurant terrace. All in all, we had a wonderfully relaxing weekend in the country and at a very reasonable price. The staff at The Vineyard are lovely and made us very welcome from the start. We will definitely be staying there again :)
