“Great view and good chowder”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2014

We just checked into our B&B and they recommended that we head to the Oyster Inn for dinner. We showed up just before close after a long day of driving and sightseeing. The server must’ve seen the looks of desperation on our faces when we asked if the kitchen was still open! We scanned the menu quickly and decided that we would make it easy: 2 chowders and 2 beers. We had to take advantage of being just up the road from Scotland’s seafood capital! We sat at a table inside and watched the gorgeous sunset while eating delicious chowder and drinking cold Guinness.

“Fresh caught local seafood”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2014

We wandered into the Oyster Inn because we saw the sign from the road. We were pretty much the only patrons which is usually a bad sign but it was between lunch and dinner. I ordered the seafood pie. Everyone was extremely happy with the food. The seafood was apparently plucked right out of the ocean that day by a nearby fisherman. How awesome is that? And it really tasted fresh like I haven't had in a long time. Apparently the restaurant has had some bad luck with a manager recently leaving suddenly and the staff has tried to carry on without experienced leadership. I think the cook almost burst into tears when I told him how much I enjoyed the meal because he was so happy to be appreciated. It was the best meal I had while visiting the UK (London, Lancashire, and Scottland).

Thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed informal atmosphere and good food and wine. Something for everyone. New staff were friendly but perhaps slowed service down a bit but the view from our window seat made up for that.

“Better service required”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 June 2014

Food is excellent, but service is unbelievably slow. Heaven knows what it would be like if they were actually busy. Prices are reasonable, with the exception of their ice cream -£5.95 for 3 scoops, and even that we had to wait for, coffee arrived first!! Owners really do need to take note of these reviews and seriously up the ante.
