“Potentially very good”
Reviewed 18 September 2013

Stayed one night in a "Superior" room. The room had a balcony with a lovely view. The room was clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom attached. Some attention to small details however would greatly improve the experience of staying here. There was no blind or curtain to cover the large bathroom window making you feel very vulnerable when using the loo or shower especially at night. Agreed that the angle of view from houses close to and the houses across the river means that you cannot be seen actually sitting on the loo but standing and using the shower exposes the top body to view - perhaps unlikely but disconcerting nevertheless. The lack of a loo roll holder - again not a major issue but fiddling around with a loose roll irritates and it is surely not a major expense item or effort to provide one? A shelf above the sink that threatens to damage your forehead when shaving. Lack of mains plug sockets in the room to enable charging of phones/tablets etc., which so many travellers need now, as well as keep the lights on - a couple of cheap extension sockets (£5 from B&Q) would be the answer. Silly little things like this are an irritant but could be solved so easily and cheaply. In our 2 week trip staying at many different places we found that most B&Bs, hotels did think about such conveniences and detail.
The bar and restaurant were good and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food was fine. Breakfast was good too. Overall a pretty good place to stay but sorting out those little touches would make it better.

We were staying at nearby north leading in our caravan and my husband walked along the beach to the hotel where we had been for meals when in this area. On this particular occasion he had gone to enquire if the football was being televised that evening the 28th August he had our two little field cocker spaniels with him so he tied them up together outside he spoke to the chap at the bar who confirmed it was on going back out to get the dogs they were gone he shouted to a man in his car to ask if he had seen them the answer was no he was very anxious by this time so ran back into the hotel to be told by a member of staff that it had only been done for a laugh ( not in the least bit funny) when he got inside they were being ushered behind the bar out of sight unfortunately he did not have his mobile phone to call the police but if management can condone this what kind of establishment is it not one that ourselves or our family will ever frequent again

We were shown a budget room for £45, bit grotty: door didn't shut on ensuite and shower stopped and started but hey £45 we didn't complain. Next morning we were presented with a bill for £90!! because we had breakfast!!
Avoid this on and go round the corner!

Due to the unusual lovely weather, my husband and I set off on Monday morning for Oban, but it was asusual overcrowded and overbooked, so drove over the Connel Bridge and by accident found this hotel. What a stroke of luck this was, we had a superior room with balcony and the food was excellent. Stayed two night and had dinner and breakfast both days. The staff were all so very friendly and helpful. As I am a Travel Agent myself, I will definately be recommending this hotel to my clients. Prefect location to visit most of the West Coast places of interest.

Room Tip: The Loch Views rooms are well worth any extra money, the views are wonderful.

Don't understand some of the reviews on this restaurant, this is the third time we have eaten here twice this week and once in November.
We have never been disappointed, staff are very friendly, food is excellent and good value for money.
Would I recommend?? Yes without a problem.

Just returned yesterday from a three night stay here. Lovely room, we had one of the superior ones. Pity the weather didn't play ball! All of the staff were brilliant from top to bottom! Food was abolutely brilliant, our daughters had paid for our our lunuh on our last day which was a surpirse but very good. It was our anniversary.

We will certainly be back again, hopefuly soon, our thanks especially to Jennifer, Colin, sorry did not catch your other half's name, and the boys on the bar on Friday and Saturday night!

Thank you again.

PS: only one wee complaint: as one non smoker all my life and my other half who quit about seven years ago, check your ashtray on the balcony, bit offputting!

Room Tip: go for a loch facing room!

We went back to the Loch Nell Arms Hotel for a third time and we were not disappointed! We received a lovely welcome from the friendly staff. Our family room had recently been refurbished and had beautiful views. We dined in the restaurant and enjoyed the lovely food and prompt, professional service. We had a fantastic three nights there and will definitely be going back!
