This hotel was one of the highlights of our honeymoon in SL. We were in a jungle chalet which was nicely furnished - very comfortable and had a superb shower.
The experience here was unlike anywhere else - a wild elk decided to come and enjoy the kids pool one day for example!
The staff were very good, efficient, attentive and friendly. The poolside was one of the highlights - loads of areas to sit, poolside bar service and a very nice pool too. Access to the safari is very easy with onsite drivers - an absolute must!
We were here for 2 nights and were genuinely sad to leave.

We decided to have a break from busy city life during August school holiday period with the kids. After many arguments all members agreed to visit Yala.

Usually we take Ratnapura route , but since Matara highway is there this time decided to travel via Matara. The drive was excellent and we reached Yala within 4 1.2 hrs.

We stayed at Cinnamon Wild for three days ( Two nights). Even though there is a severe drought in the area ,as a holiday maker I really enjoyed the entire stay. Even though hotel was full , and place was very busy ,GM Roshan ,Executive Chef Namal, F&B Amila & the team provided the best possible hospitality to my entire family and ensure that we were well looked after until our departure.
The rooms were comfortable , services amenities etc was quite good. Through out the stay the quality of food served was of very good & good variety. The service staff was well trained and good to see some village youth providing professional service. Hats off to the Training Team.
I as a veteran hotelier & hotel operation expert ,my eyes are well trained to find faults always ,but I must congratulate the entire team for the excellent work.

The negative points were that .
Yala is very dry & no rain for past six months, it was frustrating to see the animals suffer. Kirinda to Yala road is under repair, dusty but motarable . The Safari was not very pleasant , not many animals were seen ( except the beautiful leopard) The issuance of the entrance ticket to Yala is quite chaotic. Jeeps are quite noisy, and drivers should be more educated on jungle safaris. The place by the sea where we stop for the break, does not have any toilet facilities and area is full of garbage dumped by the visitors.

Room Tip: In my opinion Garden chalets towards the sea is better.

An excellent hotel on the edge of Yala national park. You can walk down to the lake next to the hotel, but beware of the crocodiles. After dark you are advised to be escorted by a member of staff when moving between your chalet and the restaurant.
Late afternoon, the monkeys come down to the swimming pool for a drink and then behave like a bunch of delinquents racing round the pool and climbing on the sun loungers.

Arrived here after staying at Cinnamon Citadel Kandy in a group of 9. The chalets were lovely and completely in keeping with the beautiful surroundings. They had everything you could wish for. The meals were not as good as the Citadel and the staff not as friendly. The actual resort was terrific because of the wildlife and the atmosphere it created. Well worth going on a jeep safari to see leopards elephants bears etc.
The beach is also next to you and worth a walk.

Room Tip: All well located either near the water hole or beach.

If you like to see Yala National Park and you can affort it, than definitely go to the Cinnamon! The luxurious chalets, the restaurant, the service but of all the location (at the border of the national park) amongst many animals is unbeatable! Elephants sometimes visit the resort but more often you see wild boars, snakes, iguanas, birds. Under our chalet, no 168, a sambar deer was sleeping every morning! Next to the pool is a small lake with many crocodils, birds, monkeys and buffalos. The staff is very friendly and they even sent a car to Tissa to get us a medication after a small accident.
In all: wonderful!!

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in July 2014 and it was incredible. The staff were all friendly and the facilities were great. The chalets were well equipped, comfortable and clean and each room had its own balcony. On our first night we had a family of monkeys sleep on our roof which made for an interesting wake up call in the morning! We also had a large family of wild boar run around underneath our balcony, deers roaming free but the best bit was the wild elephant that decided to take its afternoon stroll past the swimming pool area in the afternoon.

After sunset you have to be escorted to and from your room due to the free roaming wildlife and although we didn't see anything past night fall you can see why they say this.

We went on 4 safari's whilst we stayed in Yala and this hotel was a perfect location to reach the national park. The jeep picked you up from the hotel and it was only a 10 minute drive to the park entrance. In between the safari's we spent time at the big outdoor pool or on the roof terrace both of which gave fantastic views of the nearby watering hole and more wildlife.

From a vegetarian's perspective it was also great- all of the veggie food was labelled and there was loads of choice.

If you enjoy spotting wildlife but also want a relaxing eco-friendly, comfortable hotel this is the place to go.

Well what can I say, this resort just gets better and better.
I have just returned from another memorable stay at the Cinnamon Wild. This is my fourth visit to this resort and there have been some changes in staff and additional facilities added, since my last visit.
The resort now has a spa. Although it is small at this stage, it offers a fair range of treatments. No gym yet though.
What makes this resort standout from all the others are the staff who are so committed and motivated to please the guests, that nothing is too much trouble.
The resort has on some evenings BBQ's around the pool, and a regular buffet dinner everyday.
Myself I prefer to eat in the bar, and the new chef is very open to creating personalised dishes, without a question. Well done chef.
Once again the guys in the bar excelled, along with the staff in the restaurant at breakfast.
There are so many people that I would ;like to thank, but there are couple that go the extra mile.
If you get a chance to meet, Ishan, Chamara and Saman(Samy) you will never forget the experience. These guys make your stay a memorable one.
A special thanks to Mr. Roshan De Silva, the General Manager and Mr. Amila for looking after me once again.
Will I visit again - YES of course.
Good luck to everyone at the Cinnamon Wild. My apologies if I did not mention your name.

Room Tip: The Jungle Chalets are the best. They are all the same size so it does not really matter which jungl...
