Review of Roberts' Camp
3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 29 Aug 2018via mobile
Stayed three nights in one of the larger tents. This place is apparently one of the budget options in the area. On the plus side is the great location and outlook and the main staff are actually quite good. On the downside there's little tent housekeeping and the meals choice is limited to a few western type meals - fresh isn't on the menu. Still intrigued why nearly all guests don't stay more than a night.

I spent 2 nights in a small Safari tent for 2 person. While it was quite small for two beds ansd the price is quite high, I think it was worth it. The proximity to Lake Baringo is a huge plus!!! You will hear hippos at night and may even see them grazing around your tent. During the day you can watch them in the water and may be even see some crocodiles while enjoying a cold tusker next to the water. The Restaurant is not Special, but good. But the whole atmosphere is the best part. You can charge your electronic devices at the bar and can make a fire next to your tent

Thank you for getting back to us with a true and genuine experience about Roberts Camp Lake Baringo.
We are trying much to keep the "The thirsty goat Bar and restaurant " to the standard irrespective of the ever rising
    level of the lake water.

We appreciate and welcome more views from our guests.

    Regards
    James

I visited the camp with 3 friends and we stayed in the two small tents. Best part of the stay was uninhibited closeness to the lake. We saw crocodiles within less than 5-8 feet on the shore. At night time, hippos were grazing next to our tent. It really provided a very wild experience of the lake ecosystem compared to Naivasha which is a lot more touristy. Tents were quite comfortable with thick mattresses and pillows (it's not very hardcore camping, to be honest). Food and drinks at the restaurant were decent. Although, there isn't much else to do in the camp or the town, except to enjoy the surroundings. Will not recommend to people looking for a very active stay. But recommended for a relaxed and off-the-beaten track experience.

We stayed in the cottage in Roberts Camp in October, it had three double rooms, was clean, comfortable and good value for money,
The camp was a lovely change from hotels and Lodges, the cottage had a big verandah for relaxing and enjoying the peaceful surroundings, staff were friendly and helpful, menu wasn’t big but food was tasty and plentiful and the bar was a sociable area to chat to other travelers, also we got to wash our clothes, drying lines available,
A nature walk is available which took two hours and was very informative, also a boat trip on the lake in the early morning...superb bird watching and for both trips Louis was an excellent guide,
Overall a good budget option...the cottage is best of both worlds, camping feel with a roof over your head! Tents and Bandas looked tight on space, can also bring own tent

The safari tent is very nice and clean. Shower is amazing. You can sleep in the middle of hippos (don't be afraid!). Staff is friendly. Although, We think the place is overpriced and meals are very small, considering the price.

Room tip: Safari tent are good if you want to see hippos very close during the night
