Description: Being fascinated by the beauty of La Gomera with the warm colors and pleasant climate, where one can enjoy and feel the natural energy of the Island everywhere - we want to offer our guests the culinary flavors from such a special place. Our fine dishes are own creations inspired from stays in Thailand, India and Bali combined with typical Canarian specialties and local ingredients. And for the final touch, there are sinful homemade deserts, just like grandma used to make. Abraxas combines the flavors from various places together for a festival of the senses. We rely on the best quality and carefully prepare only selected ingredients for your enjoyment, such as using local products whenever possible and natural mineral water (we do not use the strongly chlorinated tap water). Every dish is prepared freshly at the time, and if it takes a little longer, it's worth it! Last but not least, we recommend our separate desert menu, a cocktail or exotic fruit juice liqueurs from our own distillery, which can also be bought in bottles as a very special souvenir. Welcome to the Abraxas experience. We wish you a great time here and a relaxed vacation! Kerstin and Wolfram

“First night fusion fright”
Reviewed 10 March 2014 via mobile

We visited on the first night of our holidays, weary after a long journey. Unfortunately our visit to Abraxas did little to revive us. We ordered pimentos pardon which were tasty and showed Balinese/Canarian fusion in a good light. However we also ordered squid, tuna with unidentifiable spicy sauce and monkfish in a similar if less spicy sauce. The fish dishes demonstrated a basic misunderstanding of how to cook fish and the sauces smothered any fresh flavours of the sea. Having sat opposite the kitchen and seeing the dishes being plated up, we witnessed said sauces being splodged directly from a number of squeezy bottles. This compounded with the chefs frequently popping out for a fag next to the front door did little for our appetites. The only redeeming factor was the staff who were attentive and eager to please.

“(Con)fusion rules”
Reviewed 16 February 2014

In the hands of a skilled chef fusion cooking can be some of the most interesting and tasty around;in the hands of an amateur, however enthusiastic, it is invariably dreadful. The german chef at Abraxas attempts to combine balinese and canarian cooking and , almost inevitably, fails miserably. The resultant dishes are unbalanced and show no appreciation of how to use the subtlety of spices in a harmonious way with the other(often odd) ingredients, tasting more like something from "Uncle Ben" than Bali.
If you are planning to travel to La Gomera and think that you might like something oriental whilst there pack a pot noodle you'd enjoy it far more than a meal at Abraxas.

“Not as good as we expected.”
Reviewed 21 November 2013

We were really looking forward to our visit to this restaurant. It has lots of excellent reviews and an interesting menu with lots of choices for vegetarians. The welcome was very friendly and the atmosphere is, as almost everywhere in Valle Gran Rey, very informal. We opted for the vegetarian starter for two, and baked goat cheese and vegetarian vulcan as main dishes. The ingredients are undoubtedly fresh. But the dishes lacked identity and tasted nearly the same. The vulcan dish was described as spicy on the menu, but the taste was rather flat.
So in the end we find it difficult to recommend this restaurant, especially since there is ample and much better choice for vegetarians in Valle Gran Rey.

“"Support their cooking talent and enjoy a great dinner"”
Reviewed 13 October 2013

In recently planning my already third vacation to Valley Gran Rey, one of the main things I looked forward to was to first arrive at Tenerife, then taking the ferry to San Sebastián, driving to Valley Gran Rey, checking into the rented apartment and then, going for dinner at Abraxas! I was so happy that the taxi arrived in time so that I wouldn't miss my long-awaited treat after traveling.

Abraxas is my favorite restaurant on La Gomera. The reason for this is basically their menu, the friendly owners, and how they prepare and serve their food. The food is always fresh and super tasty. The cook really has talent and the variety of their dishes will keep you coming back for more, as the consistency of the quality remains always on the same high level.

So, if you really enjoy quality food, and don't mind waiting a bit for the gourmet preparation, then I'm sure that like me, you'll only be grateful and satisfied for picking Abraxas to quench your hunger and thirst! After all, this restaurant has such delicious food, that I happily ate there practically every evening!
