It's not often that as a couple you get a house to yourself in a holiday location. But that's the deal with Indulgence Divine. And this is a particularly lovely old house beautifully located in the winding cobbled streets of Birgu in the Three Cities area of Malta. It has been decorated and designed with love and care by its owner. It has a fully appointed kitchen and bathroom, a bedroom with a canopy bed and - the crowning glory - a lovely roof terrace to spread out on, with a view over the rooftops.
We deliberated whether to stay in Valleta (the capital) or just over the water in Birgu. We're glad we chose Birgu, not just because of this particular lodging, but because it's a wonderful place to wander around, dotted with lovely restaurants and a spectacular waterfront. Getting to Valleta is also very easy, either by the half-hourly ferry (10 minutes); or by the buses which go every 20 minutes and take about 25.
We spent 5 days on Malta which was about right for us. There's lots to see in Valleta - the National War Museum at Fort St Elmo is a must. Recently upgraded, it provides a fascinating insight into 5 centuries of Malta's history and the museum is spread right across the Fort, which offers splendid views across the harbour. The State Apartments were also worth seeing, as too was St John's Co-Cathedral, with its amazing Caravaggio painting of St John the Baptist. We did side trips - on the brilliant public transport system - to Mdina and Rabat - and separately to Gozo all of which were well worth doing.
All in all a great stay, both at Indulgence Divine and in Malta itself. Highly recommended.
We really enjoyed our weeklong stay at this beautiful house. The house is beautifully decorated with great attention to detail. Every little detail is very well though out and tastefully designed. The house has a great character and the use of bright colors throughout the decor, makes it a fun place to live.
The house is located in the heart of Birgu. The location is quiet and yet close to the Birgu center, the waterfront (to catch water taxis to Valletta) and some very good local restaurants.
Thanks Aldo for sharing this wonderful creation.
We've stayed in more than 30 apartments in dozens of countries and Indulgence Divine is by far one of the highlights. The character of the 16th century townhouse combined with the tasteful, thoughtful modern day comforts made for an exceptional stay. The town of Vittoriosa is an absolute delight and perfectly located to enjoy the surrounding areas and then return to the peace and comfort of Indulgence Divine.
We recently celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary at Indulgence Divine.
The house is a work of Art and the town of Birgu is steeped in history.
We really enjoyed visiting Valletta and Mdina. There is so much to see and do in Malta.
The local restaurants are great and the people are warm and welcoming.
The owner and his team are very helpful and caring.
We had a great time.
What a fantastic stylish home in a wonderful location. Minutes from the Grand Harbour and little boat rides to to the other cities
The house was designed beautifully. Joseph the house manage picks you up from the airport and genuinely cares about making your stay the best it possibly can be.
We went for my wifes 40th Birthday and couldnt have asked for more. Beautiful accommodation, warm locals and lovely weather
Back to the house... It's loved, clean, colourful and modern with its historic features. Everything is wonderful, from the cups of coffee on the roof terraces to stepping over the road into the tiny restaurant.
Will certainly be returning.
The owner Aldo really cares, and attention to detail is a must for him.... From a welcome pack, phonecall during the week, and emails from initial booking on where to visit
On one hand I want to tell everyone how good this place is.... On the other hand i want to keep it a little secret so its not booked the next time I want to stay... A little Gem... 10 stars out of 5!!!
We had a fantastic time at Indulgence Divine! We stayed here for our honeymoon, and are so glad we did. The attention to detail in the house, in terms of both design and comfort, is second to none, and the photos speak for themselves (if anything they don’t do it justice). As a former arts student, I loved that we were really living in a beautiful work of art.
We were greeted by the house manager Joseph who showed us everything we needed to know, and were given a generous welcome pack which means we didn’t have to rush off to the shops to have our first cup of tea.
The kitchen is a great feature, perfect for making dinner for 2, however they are also a few lovely restaurants doted about the narrow medieval streets of Birgu. Our deposit was returned 1 day after our trip. Aldo is concerned about your stay, so everything is labelled and there is a ‘bible’ that explains EVERYTHING in the house.
We would recommend this place to anyone thinking of staying in Malta, and we have been raving about this dream house to everyone back at home. It is 5mins away from Valletta by Water Taxi, and in its own quiet charming location. Our only regret is that we did not have enough time to ‘stay in’.
Thank you Aldo and team for making our honeymoon so special.
We stayed one week in October and it was great. The lovely historical building, the rooms' design and decor, the modern kitchen and bathroom, the terrace, the secret place. What was as great was the location. Birgu is the place to be and this apartment has the best restaurant across the street.
