We stayed in this hotel for a week early in July and were very impressed Completely refurbished at what must have been substantial cost last year, everything is new, modern and works including very efficient a/c throughout the hotel.
Situated in Slano a small sleepy village with a small harbour (right next to the hotel) in a bay with some very acceptable restaurants/bars and a couple of supermarkets all within a 2-5 minute walk from the hotel gate, the hotel is only 3 storey's high but spread out over a large area including a big private "pea-shingle" beach. Best rooms are on the third floor looking straight out to sea and the rooms are well appointed although disappointingly using dark furniture of the type many hotels prefer making the room appear a bit dark/dingy even though it isn't. This is a quiet hotel and village - ie no major night life that we noticed - which suited us well. Also because the hotel is newly refurbished occupancy when we were there was perhaps 35-40% which was brilliant as you could sit anywhere, no queues, plenty of staff. Believe they are fuller in August and no doubt will do better next year as word gets around.
The manager and his assistant were always in attendance making sure all was OK and were always polite and attentive ready to lend a hand or answer any questions if necessary. The breakfast buffet was good (not necessarily the best I've ever had but certainly very passable) and dinner, also buffet service was extremely good surpassing our expectations.
Unless you want to spend all your time in their spa, pool (indoor and outdoor) , beach or the sea you really need a car to see the countryside, apart from Slano itself there is nothing in walking distance except some other restaurants at the other end of Slano about 1km away. However there is a bus to Dubrovnik which stops right outside the hotel being the end of the route.
Presumably this place is relatively undiscovered for the Brits as no mainline tour operators yet offer this property. We travelled independently and the hotel arranged a car to collect us from Dubrovnik Airport - about a one hour ride. Very easy and no hassle. Surprisingly it ticked all the boxes for us and we are thinking of coming back in Sept for a long weekend break and would certainly recommend it without hesitation.
