Ante and Miranda are super helpful and friendly.

They built the house for themselves and it is close to perfect: enough space everywhere, LOTS of room to hang out, beautiful garden (with a cute turtle in it) and very interesting and inventive stuff all around the walls: a nice sunclock, old and new fishing equipment, boat models Ante built - everything in proportion and with taste. Lots of shade to hide from the sun when needed - thats our usual problem with beach hotels, even with expensive ones.

The private beach is wonderful. You really are alone there, have enough space to swim, sunbathe, fish and snorkel at the same time. I tried spearfishing with a polespear but not so many big fish around this time of the year. The kids caught lots of smaller fish from the shore though, using mussels they found on the buoy as bait. There is a sea kayak that guests can use and not very far there is a small sea cave that Ante showed us which was really cool. There is another boat that only Ante uses, he showed us the neighborhood while telling us lots of interesting things, it was as good for a half day program as it gets.

You can get superb sea food in Ston, 20 kilometers from the house (try the black risotto at Bakus). Dubrovnik is also 20 kilometers. We cooked for ourselves. Bread, fruits, vegetables can be bought in Slano (5 km) and meat etc in Dubrovnik.

The whole experience was twice as intense (hence, fun) as our previous beach vacations. It was great for the kids, we could leave them out of sight and they were never bored.

Important. As they say in their ad, this place is ideal for 2 adults and 2-3 kids. 6 adults would be a strain. The beach has a very shallow part for toddlers and a rather deep one that starts at 3 meters where you go in, on well-built stairs, with a current. This is great if your kids are confident swimmers, because they wont get stung by sea urchins etc. If you have small kids who want to swim but can get scared in deep water, this place is not for you.

“LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION...AMAZING LOCATION!”

What a perfect location! It made it easy for us to travel to Dubrovnik, Ston, Kotor, Trebinje and of course the Pelijesac Peninsula. Additionally it is perfectly perched within easy reach of the Adriatic. The steps out of the back of the house lead down to a beautiful area designed for swimming and taking in the beauty of the Adriatic. The table outside allowed for multiple wonderful meals al fresco and the stargazing at night was, well, out of this world!

The landlords, Ante and Miranda, efforts to make this house a great place to stay have really succeeded. Ante met us at the airport and was so accommodating. He escorted us to the house, which locating could have been an issue, given it was the evening when we arrived. Miranda made sure we had plenty of fresh grapes, apple strudel, water, wine and grappa on arrival! They were great!

I do think there needs to be a few clarifications and comments. 1) It does indeed have the potential to sleep six, just be aware it is the form of two US full size beds and a pull-out sofa bed. 2) It does not have wireless internet access, which we found a real inconvenience. I asked if there was wireless internet before we arrived and I was told there was. When we arrived we discovered they had purchased a USB wireless internet antenna for the local cellular system. The problem? We travel with Apple iPads, so no USB port. They really need to get a stand-alone wireless internet system. 3) It is about 45 minutes from the airport. 4) It is about 20 minutes to Dubrovnik. 5) It is about 20 minutes to Ston. 6) The driveway access from the main road can a real adventure. The turnoff is hard to find and not marked, so at night it is easily missed. Thank goodness Ante showed us where it was!

It really is a nice enough house and the landlords are amazing people. They were a true delight to deal with from the US. I was a little nervous renting a house sight unseen, half a world away, but after this experience I would truly do it again.

My husband and I, along with my in-laws, stayed at Villa Tica in July and we were absolutely blown away by the hospitality of the hosts and the beautiful property. Out of the 4 weeks we spent in Europe this summer we all agree that the 4 days at Villa Tica were by far our favorite! The secluded location and the tranquil waters made our stay in Croatia very memorable. The owners even dropped off a bottle of wine and some fresh vegetables for us to enjoy. Would most definitely recommend this property!

We have just returned from an 11 night stay at Villa Tica and have had a brilliant holiday. Antun met us at the airport and once we got our hire car sorted which was pre booked in the UK, he took us to a supermarket and then we followed him to Villa Tica. On arrival we were blown away by the stunning views of the Adriatic and the surrounding area. He gave us a tour of the villa and explained how everything worked. The villa has steps down to the rocks below and there is an area where we put the sun beds and spent many hours relaxing, swimming, snorkelling, fishing and canoeing. The sea in this area is incredibly clear and beautifully refreshing. The weather was very consistent, waking up everyday to beautiful sunshine, temperatures of about 30/31 and enjoying breakfast overlooking the Adriatic. The villa is well equipped, we cooked most days and ate outside enjoying the view and the stunning sunsets. Antun is a retired engineer and the bbq he made was brilliant, easiest one I have ever cooked on. There is air conditioning in the downstairs room and in both the bedrooms, it was very effective at cooling the place down. Nothing was too much trouble, Antun and Miranda were very kind turning up with nectarines, melons and wine for us and popped in to check we were ok every few days. We had the use of their canoe which was great fun for exploring the coast and going off snorkelling. There is a lovely beach just a few minutes drive from the villa where you can hire sun loungers and umbrellas. I would recommend a day trip to Korcula, it takes about an hour and a quarter to drive to Orebic and the Jadrolinija ferry runs every hour. It cost us (family of 5 and car) 312 Kuna for a return ticket. You purchase the tickets before you drive on to the ferry at the ticket office situated to the left of the ferry docking area. Its also worth factoring some time to call in at one of the vineyards on this peninsula, get some mussels from the mussel farm and stop at Ston on the way back and head to a restaurant called Bakus that Antun recommended. We had a thoroughly enjoyable meal with really good seafood. Cost around 500 kuna for family of 5. Dubrovnik is about a 25 minute drive and is worth a visit but try and avoid going when the massive cruise liners are in to avoid the crowds, evenings probably would be best. Its the kind of holiday that there is lots to do but you will want to spend some time just relaxing at the villa. Another really nice place to visit is Cavtat which is close to the airport so is great to spend the day there if you have an evening flight. We found a lovely restaurant called Kolona. It is set slightly back from the seafront ones but has a terrace with fans and the food is lovely and service very attentive. We would definitely return to Villa Tica.

“Stunning sunsets and beautiful views inspired the muse”

We loved our stay at Villa Ticca, the house is very comfortable, with good beds, plenty of hot water in the spacious bathrooms and a well equipped kitchen, there's also a big barbie oven downstairs which we didn't try out, but looked great fun if there's a few of you staying. Antun is a wonderful host, he turned up one morning to cook kilos of mussels for us, shared over a bottle of wine and great stories because the weather wasn't so good that day, if he could he would have ordered sunshine every day, however May is known to be 'turbulent'. We had lots of sun anyway (escaped the English cold) and the water was warm enough to enjoy a leisurely swim most days. My partner wanted peace and sea views to help him get into his writing and we had that, the Villa is just off the main highway, so it's very accessible, though there is a little traffic noise from time to time, but on the garden terrace all we could hear was the sea washing the rocks and deck below. At the back of the house the sea is sprinkled with islands on all sides, it's very beautiful by day and at night when lights twinkle up and down the coastlines from isolated houses and groups of dwellings. I loved to just sit and watch the yachts sail through. Dubrovnik is an easy drive away, and Anton recommended we visit Ston - which was a good call for a memorably excellent (and good value) lunch and a look at the famous 5km of walls. It's a great place to stay and soak up the sun, and my partner at least found it inspirational.

We really enjoyed our stay at villa Tica. It is a perfect location for holidays. The sea is just a few meter from the house, the water is so clean and you have a direct view on the Elaphites Islands. the owners were very nice. The house is well equiped and furnished. It is not too far away from Dubrovnik so we went there a few times. We spent a really great time at villa Tica and just regreted we had not rented the house for one more week !!!
