“Satsified Parents”
Reviewed 26 August 2013

We took my parents along on or our annual visit to the area to visit my partner's family. I booked this nearby hotel for my parents to stay in on the strength of it probably being the poshest hotel in town, it has English speaking reception and restaurant staff and it's in the pedestrianised centre of a lovely town. They stayed eight nights and were most satisfied. Their room could have been better appointed in that it only had a skylight window and no view, but it was air conditioned and the beds were comfortable enough. They enjoyed their meals in the restaurant and people watching from the outdoor decked area of the bar at the front of the building. They thought the location was perfect and both the room and meals offered very good value for money. Were they to come with us again I'm sure they wouldn't object to staying here again.

positive:
The hotel has private parking space, carefully guarded. Furniture is old-fashioned to other countries' travellers, but in a very good condition! All premises were clean.
I stayed in a suite, that was spacious.
Bellboy, receptionist was helpful, waiters did not smile at all, looked like robots.
negative:
Breakfast was terrible: dry bread, small portion of "ham plate", dry (i.e. a day old) pancake. I stayed very hungary after it.
I paid a hell lot of money for a hard matrace, and for a breakfast that was below all expectations.
All in all this is not a 4 star hotel.

Stayed there for the 3rd time in 3 years. This time the air conditioning in the room was broken, no way to open window, as there were 2 powerful exhaust fans in less than 2 m at the window level.
Receptionist Ljudmila was unfriendly and unprofessional. My friend (and later me) were having constant problem with wifi in our rooms. But! Their breakfasts! That was a real fun. Restaurant waiter demanded for 10 hrv for espresso, which was included in the menu. Espresso was made by changing cup to a smaller one, and pouring a half of my big coffee they brought in the beginning to the cup. To say nothing of the bored waiters showing up they didn't like us at such an early hours... etc etc

Stayed here for two nights in June 2013.

Excellent location in the pedestrian area of the city centre.
15 mins. walk from the bus station, 20 mins. walk from the train station.

To get to the parking lot of the hotel by car, the entrance is on Yaroslava Mudroho/Ярослава Мудрого, between the intersection with Felorova/Фелорова and the intersection with Miru/Миру. Follow the sign "Готель СТАР".

Friendly & helpful reception staff, good English spoken.

Elevator available.

Slept in a standard single room (317). Airconditioning provided. This room is in the back so not the greatest view but no issue with the noisy billboard.

Wifi is provided free but quality is low, many interruptions. It was certainly more stable during the day and late at night (probably less users connected).

Bathroom was clean, hot water at all times. A bit of a drain smell but nothing really disturbing.

Breakfast is an awful experience, very unfriendly staff, almost no English.

Ordering is complicated (despite English menu) because you need to make a combination of items following rather strict rules. An impatient waiter standing by your table waiting for you to order does not help...

Quality is so so...
The pancakes I received were cold. My question if it was possible to heat them was ignored.

Conclusion : good hotel but have breakfast somewhere else.

Price was 397 UAH (35€) per night.

Breakfast awful!! Personal incompetent! And if anyone says that it is the European average four-star hotel, so you are not right ... Maybe in the U.S.A. or North Africa... ( By the way, do not use elevators)

We stay a night there traveling from Budapest to Lviv.
The staff was close to excellent. All taken into account, the hotel is not at the level of its 4 stars. The breakfast is quite poor and served in an empty pretentious restaurant. Wi-fi connection was dropping all the time. The room was very small. The water in the "hot" tap took a lot of time to get at least warm.
The room was also very noisy, and my roommate had trouble getting asleep because of the neon sign just above our room.

The only nice hotel we could find in Mukacheve. Great location located in the centre of the small town and is within walking distance to great restaurants and coffee's shops. Our room was functional and very clean with a king size bed flat screen TV and a separate living area. A little noisy in the morning due to the huge electronic billboard they start up in the AM constantly playing Bruno Mars across the square!

The hotel is basic as far as amenities go , it has its own restaurant with a very good wine list and great food. We had a terrific bottle of cabernet sauvignon from France , bottle of Crimean champagne , appetizers, and great entree's all for under $45.00. You can not charge meals to your room a common issue in the area of the Ukraine. Breakfast was not included either in the room rate. The value proposition was not here as compared to the Old Continental Hotel just down road 25 minutes away in Uzhgorod which was an amazing place to stay with very fine dining!
