The facilities in Gwalia cottage are outstanding; washing machine, dryer, dishwasher all came with appropriate liquids/powders. Several types of cleaning liquids and cloths are stored up and downstairs. The beds and bedding are all very clean and comfy. The whole place was spotless and had everything our family of 3 plus 1 small dog could wish for. Even bread, cake, teabags, coffee, sugar and milk waiting for us.
We walked to the Co-op in the town, a 15/20 min walk, there's also a McColls. Ian's fish and chip shop is next to the Co-op - tasty fish n chips here and a lot cheaper than we're used to in Essex.
Gwalia is in a good geographical position for the coast and the mountains and it's a few minutes drive to the Llechwedd Slate Caverns.
The only downs to this mostly up review? When you open the front gate you step straight onto the road and the garden is very steep with slate steps that can be slippery. Apart from that, perfect.
Lovely well furnished and equipped cottage in an imposing location overlooking the old slate mines. Beds were a little soft for our tastes, however this would suit others. Be aware that this cottage is on a busy road with no pavement. There was no space to park outside the address, however there was a car park a minutes walk away.
