Thanks for carrying out the extremely complimentary review, it is very much appreciated. We are delighted to hear that if you return to Snowdonia you would come and stay with us. Also thanks for commenting about the breakfast, it’s definitely something Pat pride herself upon. Nice to hear that you thoroughly enjoyed you time in Blaenau. Many thanks again, Pat & Alister

We booked a night here, having been turned down at the Eco-lodge in Blaenau Ffestiniog who would not accept a one-night booking, it proved to be a very good move. This is a lovely Victorian slate quarry manager's home on the edge of Blaenau Ffestiniog with wonderful mountain views and within site of the steam train chugging along the track to Porthmadoc. It was a brief stay as we arrived just after 9.30pm and were away again by 8.45am, even so, it was long enough to recommend this B&B. It is beautifully clean, decorated in keeping with its Victorian roots, and the beds are wonderfully comfortable. The electric shower ensuite proved to have good pressure which is somewhat unusual. Breakfast was nicely presented, with fresh fruit salad, yoghurts a selection of cereals and an English fry-up. (We were very grateful that the Welsh breakfast offerings of cockles and laverbread did not put in an appearance!!). Pat (Welsh) and Alistair (Irish) were very relaxed as were their two elderly pooches who are very well behaved and are not allowed to enter the dining room or kitchen. If you need a home from home on the edge of Snowdonia, then we would recommend Dolawel to you.

Gorgeous little BNB tucked in the heart of Wales. Visited this spot with three other friends all in our early 30’s. Pat and Alister were very welcoming and helpful hosts with a raft of great recommendations on how to experience Wales.

The accommodation itself was quiet, comfortable, spotless rooms and delicious breakfast!

Thank you for your hospitality Pat & Alister!

Dolawel Guest House was recommended to me by a friend who has been numerous times and it lived up to its recommendation. Pat and Alister immediately made us feel welcome and at home. There home is a beautiful spacious Victorian House, with ample space for guests in either their room or the guest lounge. We stayed here for two nights, on our first day we were walking up Snowdon with our 9 and 11 year old. Alister kindly loaned us a map and advised us the best route to take and where to park up. He has years experience in mountaineering and was a great help to us. On the 2nd day we went to Zip World which is a ten minute walk up the road. This guest house is a perfect location to use as a basecamp to visit lots of beautiful and exciting areas. There is ample parking at the back of the house attached to a large spacious garden in which the children played. The breakfast is delicious and it sets you up for the day. My daughter said” I know it’s not a hotel but it’s the best hotel I have stayed in’. I cannot praise Alister and Pat enough for the hospitality they provide.

We stayed here as part of my birthday present where we had booked two days of activities at zip world. In terms of location this was perfect and was only a 2 minute drive up the hill.
Our room was comfy, with all the normal bits and bobs in the room. It was very clean and we slept very well with everything being very peaceful. Parking is great off the road and safe around the back of the property. Breakfast is great, with a good range of cereal, yoghurt to start and then a yummy cooked breakfast to follow.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful, giving us advice on where to eat and helping with anything else we asked. The co-hosts also greeted us with wagging tails every morning and evening! I would highly recommend staying here and hopefully we will be back soon!
