The hotel looks great from the outside, welcoming and polite staff on entering. The room was larger than average and in the bathroom, the only thing missing was a shelf to put your 'stuff' on.
Dinner was outstanding and not over expensive. Breakfast was superb. We had a brilliant weekend there and would highly recommend it. All the staff were kind and considerate and the area is beautiful, ideal place to stay and explore.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a front room, nice views across to the mountains rearing up above you across the r...

Me and my husband stayed there for two nights on the 12th/13th October. Breakfast was lovely the first morning, but more like supermarket bacon and sausages the 2nd.
Room was big and comfortable but the bathroom could have been a bit cleaner and so could the drawers in the bedroom. Need a mirror I can see into, the bathroom one is too high for my 5'1" height, I could only see my forehead, the one on the wardrobe wasnt well enough lit.
The local pub, The Merion doent shut till 12, on returning to the hotel we found they shut at 11. We were locked out until a guest came and let us in, so make sure you ask for a front door key!
I'd stay here again if I was in the area.
P.S. The Bistro in the town we were hoping to eat at, is shut and is going to be a kebab house and the chippy closes at 9, the Alam Tandoori was lovely though, just so you know.

Just got back from a break in the stunning Blaenau ffestioniog, the hotel has just had a refurb and with a mix of modern and old which was nice, the staff a friendly and helpful.

The town is coming to the end of a major refurb itself. With modern slate structures all round the town which are very interesting

We visited the slate mines and had a trip on the Ffestiniog Railway which we could see from our window, with the mountain range in the back ground, stunning. We also visited the new Bike centre near by and were grateful that the hotel had its own bike shed.

We ate there on both nights with the food of a good standard and the locals were friendly, it was interesting to hear the Welsh being spoken at the bar, it gave it a great sense of place.

We will be returning with our friends in the summer, thank you Beth(manager) and her team for a great weekend

Just back from a mountain biking trip, riding at Antur Stiniog. We decided to stay in the great looking Gwesty Ty Gorsaf Hotel that looks like it has had a ton of money spent on doing it up. We were meant to head home that night but having had a great lunch there earlier in the week thought we would stay one last night before heading home... How we wished we had just gone home!!!!

There was a bike lock up back of hotel but looked like my five year old could have broken into it plus no washing fascilities were available. The hotel recomended we park round the back in a pitch black half finished car park, but decided to leave our car in the parking bay at the side of the hotel. Bottom line a very expensive bike was stolen from the locked roof, plus car smashed up in the process.

Could you believe how angry we were when we reproted to police when we were told this was not the first time and the hotel did not seem to bother. They have a state of the art security system in the hotel but nothing outside.

We parked the car in a very well lit square that was very public, I have little doubt that this was witnessed but nothing so far. The staff were incredibly "sheepish" in the morning.

What is more although the rooms are a fantastic size, nothing quite worked from the dvd player, the flat packed furniture that felt like it was going to fall to pieces, the sink that leaked, the dinner that we had that was such a disapointment after the lunch before.

Be very careful of your belongings if you do go, the hotel felt out of control of its guests or the bar...

We had just spent a great deal of money building the new bike shed, with british standard locks on for the new bike centre up the road we now that people want there bikes lock in a secure shed, so when I was informed that a guest had opted to leave his bike on top of his car in the middle of town i was absolutely amazed that he had done so. We did every thing posible to help this guest and my feeling is that he feels a bit of an idiot for leaving it out side and is taking it out on our Hotel, who as you can see by our previous reviews is of a high standard

Have just returned from a 2 night stay at Gwesty Ty Gorsaf. The staff made myself, brother and 9 month old daughter feel very welcome with friendly check in and great service at breakfast.

Rooms were very big and clean and ticked all the boxes for a good night sleep for a 9 month old. Hotel is in excellent position for railway, walks on the Manod and Moelwyns and the refurb has certainly made the hotel an attractive find in the heart of Blaenau Ffestiniog.

The town itself looks to be also having a refurb which can only add further to the charm of this hotel.

Locals seemed pleasant enough and the owners are creating a smoking area out the back in order to keep to entrance clear. Would definitely visit again.

Stayed four nights at Ty Gorsaf and it was a thoroughly pleasant experience. Room very basic but very clean and comfortable. Had heard mixed reports about the attitude of the Welsh speaking North Wales people to the English, but found both the hotel staff and locals to be friendly and helpful.
There is a lovely bar downstairs and the breakfast was also good. Would thoroughly recommend this little hotel to anyone looking for a base, whilst exploring Snowdonia.
