Mum and I had two nights at Bryn Elltyd. We arrived and were greeted by John. A cup of tea and cake later, we went to our room; Twlc a Mochyn. Great twin room with wet room. Not surprisingly it was the old pig sty, very apt. Celia made us a three course meal the first night, amazing value at £16 per person. After enjoying pate, braised chicken and posset we bedded down for the night. The room is extremely warm thanks to the insulation but theres big windows to keep the temp down. Next day we walked down to Blaenau, had a day in charity shops, tea room and pub. Service bad in both eateries. If you stay at the weekend Cell will be open, we recommend going there for drinks and food rather than the pubs.
Do not go for food at the 'Queen's Hotel', we had off prawns and got our money back. The Chippy was great food across the road and very friendly service.
Back at the b&b we had a windy night but woke to a sunny morning. Got on the ffestinog train, station just 200m away from Bryn! Great train ride.
Our advice?? Eat breakfast and dinner at Bryn Elltyd as both are excellent. Definately use the suana, great added addition to the house.
We're planning on coming back in the summer when walks and the reservoir are less bracing!More
